What is everyones definition of a perfect mech? Im looking for a mech with at least 10+ tons of armor for decent protection, min 86+ km/h + jump jets for mobility, and bap + ecm for detection and evasion with a decent loadout. Does a mech like this exist (without a full blown mechlab for customs). This would be my opinion of a "perfect" mech.

Actually, the Thanatos is pretty close to what you call "pferect". It only lacks the BAP...but has a C3-slave ;)

The Executioner, if you add the BAP and ECM as pods and count the MASC bonus as its top speed.

Otherwise, you could pull some equipment off a Hellbringer to add jump jets and some more armor - those AP pods in particular are largely superfluous anyway

*Edit* Of course, that's your definition of perfect. Mine is more along the lines of Adders, Solitaires, Red Shifts, and Pack Hunters - scouts/harassers with a decent bite.

Agree on the thanatos is what you're looking for (ooops, Fed-Com civil war era), and the BlackHawk may work too (ooops, 3055). Anyway, as usual, the perfect mech is the one which suit your playing style.

Everyone has a different idea of what is a perfect mech. Yours may be clan or at least one of the newer designs of mechs that should be out in production soon. For decent movement of 5/8 bap ecm and 10 tons of armor would need a light/xl engine for you to have any type of real weapons to use.

No, there is no perfect mech, but if there was (and BV was no concern) there are a few Clan omnimechs which might be in the running.

Perfect mechs maybe, but mech? Cannot say there is one that exists. A superior mech can be defeated by a crappy medium mech if the difference in pilot skill is too much. However I would argue you could build a perfect lance of mechs. Anyone that wants to go into battle alone with a perfect mech is going to find himself a smoldering wreck. A mech does not make the pilot. Rather the pilot makes the mech

Perfect mech changes with play style, mission objectives, and the battle situation.

The "perfect" mech is the mech that can be used for any mission, so it's probably a omnimech you're looking for.

Not sure if I'll ever figure out why I love the Sagittaire - it's just so far off from my usual style... But damn, is it a great 'Mech :)

There is no such thing as the "Perfect Mech". It is your imagination of what you think it is.. ;)

personal configuration:
8x clan-ulra-auto-cannon caliber 2 (engagement range 1000m, 1 ton extra ammo each)
2x rocket launcher (engagement range 500m, no extra ammo unguided)
enhanced zoom
LAMS

prefered radar mode: disabled

Outranges practically everything across the board, goes toe-to-toe with LRM range, the only weapon going beyond it is a lightgauss. Clan-gauss and ER-lasers are 800m, so nothing of those can touch you. Ulra-auto-cannons fire twice a salvo with a 0,25 second delay. A single press of the trigger unleashes 16 shells and if you keep the trigger pressed the delay between salvoes is practically not existant. Enhanced zoom makes leading and targeting individual mech parts at maxrange a breeze. Even the heaviest assaults can't stand sustained fire from this beast for more than a few seconds. It runs pretty cool and requires no additional heatsinks.

There are always hotshots who come up close to give you a beating with high caliber ballistics. Thats what the rocket launchers are for. The twin rocket launchers are fired up close in addition to the auto-cannons and it really leaves a lasting impression.

This configuration was inspired from the Kraken mech.

It lacks jets, is a little light on armor and requires a unobstructed zone of fire to work best.
Of all configs i did, this felt the most complete.

Another variant is the 8x rotary-auto-cannon calibre 2 Annihilator.
Posted Image

It puts more hurt down the pipe but lacks the zoom, is a little less on the range side (850m) and the weapons are suspectible to jamming.

A lot of pilots succumbed to these, i have seen entire stars wiped out as they tried to clos to those juggernauts. Against jumpsnipers those are less effective because of the limited firing opportunity, but it is able to totally surpress the snipers - them hiding behind cover and you standing in the open.

It felt good piloting these machines.

Perfect? No. Fits me perfectly? Yes. Of course it's a clan omni - Ryoken / Stormcrow. 55 tons, faster than most designs in its weight range, maxed armour, & I've never found a pod configuration I didn't like. The Mad Cat & Jenner-7F come pretty close, but I can perform miracles in a Ryoken. Although the mini looks better with Mad Cat or Thor arms. ;)
