Perhaps the simplest way to explain things is that we feel our closed beta players have done all they can and simply they are fatigued by closed beta. What I mean by this is that closed beta can be trying mainly because all of their hard work gets wiped on a regular basis and even though we continue to have tens of thousands of unique players playing each day there are many that are waiting to spend their time when it really counts. There are many other reasons but that one is reason enough, it has become time for us to open our doors and allow all of our great players to start progressing towards advancement that they can keep.

Errr... I can progress as much as I want to in 2 weeks because matchmaking is broken and I have a team, which means that I never lose and rack up over a million c-bills an hour. Wiping means nothing to me. And I've got the cheapest founders pack you offer. Buy me 2 mechs with my MC: one to pilot and an Atlas to sell (if it doesn't glitch out and leave me with an empty shell of a mech that I can't use). Take those c-bills, load up my mech with whatever I want and then grind away at PUGs because PGI isn't offering me anything else to do.

Hell, your players are organizing an impromptu tournament with 40 teams because we're tired of this, yet you haven't implemented a working matchmaking system yet. We're going on TS3 and doing countdown drops because the existing system is so wonky.

Here's what you need to do: Create a matchmaking system, give decent trial mechs, implement a basic tutorial and training grounds. Tribes:Ascend and WOT both offered matchmaking that put new players into games against each other while they learned the ropes... in their open betas. Get these 3 things done in the next two weeks and then open her up! I'd love to hear the rationale as to why you are opening beta up without doing these basic things first.

You all want to see a game that is truly hosed go play WOT for a month,,than cry about a messed up MM or content or global conquest or a constant state of "beta". Grind your guts out for a tank and watch them nurf the hell out of it on the next patch. I have spent a whole lot more there than here but that money will be spent here soon. It's the same whinny *** cry babies there only different names but same personality,Either play the game or leave ,,offer constructive feedback and be a help not a hindrance, report problems if you find them,,it's PGI's game and while I have waited a long time for it to launch it's their choice just like yours to play or leave,,I have reported a few bugs and tried to offer a few ideas along the way and will play until it's dead weather thats a week or a year or ten years,,,Thank you PGI for taking on this task and putting up with all the key-board commandos in these forums,,,

Funny, that has been said since WoT went OBT, and has been said over and over again...

But it is not so...

MWO might turn out the same...

Oh...this won't end well. We're not "fatigued." Hells, I just started 2-3 weeks ago-along with several thousand others.
Cut the garbage-you need capitol, and the delays ain't helpin' the bottom line. That's fine. I'm along for the ride. You got my money already. But don't pull this garbage and wrap it in camo and expect us to swallow it whole.

Most of us working on this are from the old school. The one that taught us how to recognize B.S. by looking at it.
And as the saying goes, "If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck..."

I concur with many others here - there are still a lot of core issues that need to be addressed ESPECIALLY for those who have already paid into the game.

Honestly with the cascade of new bugs flying in from the last patch, even the thought of rolling to open beta any time soon seems absurd...

In short, stupid idea. Huge fan of the game, but for reasons already surmised, this is a mistake.

I might agree on that this game needs an influx of new players... But, did you create conditions for them? Is there any tutorial, tips, newby friendly matchmaking? Let's get serious, all the mechwarrior vets/fans already are in the game or at least tried it. Hell, whoever wanted into closed beta could make it. Now, let's imagine the new player (not familiar with BT universe) reaction to this game, when it:

1)Currently lags like hell after 5 minutes into the game.
2)Can't even shut down correctly
3)Current heat mechanic NEEDS to be explained, but there is no ingame tutorial/tips for that. Result? People overheating after 2 alphas because game doesn't tell them even how to configure weapon groups and what which element of HUD actually means. There is no ingame explanation whatsoever of the only game mode available currently. Come on guys, at least post a message on loading screens: "Base assault: Capture the base or destroy enemy mechs. Once you are dead, you are dead for the rest of the match".
4)No matchmaking to speak of.

After 2 games in a row roflstomped by a premade, your average new player who is by the way piloting a trial mech with no clue about heat management, how to configure weapon groups or even what to do in this game mode, will say "F*** this s***" and move on to the next F2P game, there are plenty of them nowadays. And there it goes, your new player, which you hope will spend money on this game and the main reason to go open beta.

This game is nowhere near ready for the general public unfamiliar with BT universe/Mechwarrior games.
I'm trying to be constructive here. You want new players? Create conditions for them!

P.S. Sorry for my english.

And so it begins.
Frankly, I have 2 major concerns.
1. Matchmaking: This needs to be fixed before OB. The current MM is going to **** off alot of new players and alot of them are going to quit over it. And they will bad mouth the game to others.
2. Premium time: I do not like the fact that my premium time is going to start when there is hardly any content (such as maps, mechs, gamemodes, etc), when the MM sucks balls, and when game stability/performance is still an issue.

This is going to end badly if they don't fix the issue with buying a mech and having the armor value bug out to 0.

I do like getting a kill in my no armor Centurian though. That made my day.

"Trial Mechs" should allow for a Random option too. Mechwarriors can choose their mech from a rotation-list, or select "Random" and a chance to get something that's not.

This^
BENEFITS of paying. You get to own mechs. So you get to outfit them however you want. Advantage in game. Bigger mechs/larger payload=more LRM to spam/camp. Lame. Benefit=Advantage=Upperhand

Anyone gets to own mechs. C-bills or MCs. The founder mechs only differ from the mechs they're based on in two ways.

1- Unique skin
2- Permanent +25% c-bill earning bonus

I suspect #2 may be available in "Hero mechs" in the future.

There is nothing we can do with our founder mechs that nobody else can't. If you really believe otherwise, then it shows how much you (don't) know.

Finally, there's been plenty of threads discussing how to defeat LRMs and their launchers. I could throw in some of them here, but I don't think this thread is appropriate for that, so I'll refrain. They're easy to find.

Every new player who gets into the beta and playes as a F2P will end up buying a mech that is worthless, and wasting all of their c-bills to do it.

Do you think they are then going to go back to playing trial mechs again since the time they spent is wasted until the bug is fixed or quit and play a game that works.

Do you think the reviewers are going to just gloss over this issue or grind the game into the dirt hard for that one.

F2P titles rely heavily on thier public image to drive revenue and this issue won't help that at all, it will more likley drive players away in droves.
