the matchmaker needs to be much more weighted on group sizes. unless there are no other groups in queue it should never have a game with one 4 man on one side and no 4 man on another. Many times games are decided before the mech startup sequence ends just due to a premade and that needs to be accounted for.
If I wanted to be social I would go outside and meet people? I play video games because it is easy and convenient and I DON'T HAVE TO RELY ON OTHER PEOPLE BEING AVAILIBLE TO PLAY. I play casually, sometimes i get on at 1 am to play a few games, sometimes i play for 4 hours straight. I have a very inconsistent schedule (and I know I am not alone) and that shouldn't make me unable to have a competitive online experience. There is a place for team play and a play for casual gamers. There is no reason they have to be mutually exclusive. That being said I also group with 1-3 other people occasionally.

A very bad idea.
In any case: I do occasionally use teamspeak when I play with friends. But I cannot be arsed to look for a group of strangers to join, especially if I'm already in a TS channel with friends having a nice chat on the side that said strangers don't need to hear. I'd use properly implemented in-game voicechat if it was available for pugs, as I do in other games I play.

I shouldn't have to join a clan/guild/whatever just to be able to do this. It's already given these groups an inflated sense of ego and self-righteousnous as they apparently are the only "teamplayers" in the game. Ignoring the fact that Pugs still can operate like teams, with people doing certain roles autimatically as they wish to do. Maybe eventually I will want to join one of these groups, as the game gets more content, but right now it's a beta and not a finished product so pugging should be just fine. It always should be just fine.
Game's that can't have functional Pugging will fail. It's 80 percent of play and it's how people learn and get better on their own.

Also, if there's an integrated chat coming, why should I waste my time setting up the Flavor Of the Month chat software?

1) other - dont want to listen to kids scream about not getting support when they rambo or get killed by "cheese" builds (seen trial mechs get labelled cheese even)
2) nothing, it detracts from the game IF YOUR PUGGING.
I'm fine using it when im playing with friends on a team or something, but absolutely dont want to use it with the random ******* that you meet pugging, either on your team or the other one.

On the other note the way you wrote this topic name makes me never ever have anything associated with clans/groups especially the one you are in. You make it sound its the only way to play and your the only one knowing how to play it but believe me its not. I had many bad experiences with people in other games and it seems you classify like one of them. Nothing against you bro but the way you wrote just rubs me the wrong way. Cheers.

This. Open voice chat will just be a source of all kinds of crap.
EDIT: oh, and once we get a EU server, there will be people speaking 20 different languages - fancy that on voice comms.

This is not rocket science game design. Since the late 90's we've had voice chat. And since then, we've had 'mute player', and 'mute all players'.
Depriving the game of a basic, standard function based on asinine player preference is well...asinine.

Get some skill and stop whining when other team mates can't carry you through the match.
