Lances my friend, lances.

What about Stars (once we see the Clans go live)? Or Level IIs for those among us who look good in white robes?

LOL people ranting about the 4 person groups having to drop with pugs... " i only have 6 friends i play with what then?" look at it from another perspective.... RECRUTEMENT !!!!!! first,if you only have 4-7 people in the game that are the ONLY people you play with ... thats kinda sad :) i play with at least 40 with the FWLM. you dont hear me complaining that we dont have a 40 v 40 do you? I see this as an opportunity to make NEW FRIENDS! Its an opportunity to Bring new people into your house/clan/company/merc unit. PGI should leave this as an OPTION no matter what phase were in lol. how do you get pugs to become part of the player base? Turn them into NOT-pugs. Again i feel bad for those of you out there without more than 4-7 friends :) come join the fun @ http://housemarik.enjin.com/home we have team speak, and a lot of good people to drop with.

I say we wait and actually try out the new matchmaking system before having an emo breakdown because it's not the pretty perfect picture that we may have individually envisioned.

I'm glad this thread is giving a guiding light to those who don't follow this game in blind faith like the way I do. :)

Thank you for fixing the match-making. This will make playing the game FUN again. The perfect solution of course is to only have PUG vs. PUG, but this will make it so much easier to play as a PUG vs. the teams that are essentially nothing but LRM boats, nothing but Light Mechs that rush to cap, or teams that have 2 to 4 GaussCats. If those GaussCats only have at most 3 guys on comms that can protect their butts, they will be MUCH easier to hunt and kill now. I just don't understand how people could even complain that are on pre-made teams. Are they upset that now they can't totally decimate PUG players all the time, or that if they have a full team of 8, they have to play another team full of cheese?

With the lag issue getting fixed last night why push the Open Beta back?

Not being able to group unless in 4 or 8 player groups is horrible. What if you have 5, does someone have to sit out every round? How is this conducive to multi-player play?

This.

This matchmaking "fix" is a big punishment for organised groups.
The 12. Donegal Guards are really steamed about this "fix". We have a lot of pilots and create mostly even groups of 3 -8 pilots so everybody can play instantly with several mates.

So, dont punish player, who wanne play together and in organised structures. It´s a tactical team game. Not an arcade FPS.

lag issue isn't finally fixed! there are still lags and rubber banding... less but still there. before the last patch I had neither lag or RB.

I've been playing the Closed Beta for over a month. While the gameplay issues have been what I'd expect at this stage, I've been hesitant about buying a Founder's package because I wasn't seeing what I'd expect from the development team in regard to the several largest concerns from the beta test community. After the announcement today, I have renewed confidence in the development team and became a new Founder. Continued hopes for community-developer close collaboration!

One more comment I'd like to make: I paid for a Founder's package for someone else whose graphics-pushing machine is out of action until a while from now. Glad to know that money isn't getting flushed down the toilet!

When I popped open the email with this news I was ecstatic! I'm very excited for the future of this game and all the cool stuff that will be coming out of it.

Thanks Paul (and gang) this is definitely the right move - love the new group system btw (lances and full groups) can't wait for that. Great work getting the patch out for the Atlas bug so quick, that was a concern!

This is better then what phase 1 proposes. Makes everybody happy : pugs and premades.

I second this. Although I don't have a problem with the currently way things are handled. My friends and I are there just to have fun. I'm sometimes running around with a ERPPC on my Commando cause it's hilarious =P. So even throwing us in with other premade groups we're still gonna get slaughtered probably =P As long as I'm getting slaughtered with all my friends I dont care =P

Well thats largely resolved every major concern I have. As the nights were dominated by pub stompers and that basically stopped me playing largely during the night.Although I feel having a team representing 50% of the force in a match may be a tad too much. Larger maps and larger teams are part of future plans so I guess I have to wait on that. As currently even 50% of the team is a huge advantage. But balancing them against other half pub mixes also seems like a good idea.

This is actually a much more natural blending of the setup groups as there is no teir system like in wot for the phase 2.

Phase 3 I havent really had much experience with though it does seem a natural way for enjoyment of all players.

The premium time for myself will probably start ticking either at the start of open beta or at the start of the phase 1 or 2 of matchmaking

While most of the fixes are fine the matchmaking fix is terrible. The moment the 5th guy shows up to play he can't play with his friends. The matchmaking system you are implementing implies that every group is organized and potentially a very experienced group of players. I play with anywhere between 3-8 friends (some of which are terrible, myself included) and if we can't all play together because people are ******** about pre-mades then I don't want to give this game my money. Half the time these people are probably losing to "premades" that aren't premades, the other team just decided to communicate rather than run off in different directions. Make 2 queues one for "ranked" and one for "normal" is this is such an issue. Put the new matchmaking system which requires static 4 and 8 man groups in "ranked" and leave "normal" alone.

Try and get your team organized. Having them change the matchmaking because you can't work with your team is stupid. Premades can be beaten by PUGs. Your team just has to want to work together.

Never should the capacity for the human race to produce itself a 'champion' who will find a dark cloud inside the silver lining be underestimated... ever.

Seriously. Best example. If we were paid twenty bucks an hour to beta test someone would still gripe they weren't being paid cash. If we were then paid twenty dollars cash per hour to beta test, someone would still gripe the bills were too crisp, not crisp enough, not numerically sequential, were numericaly sequential, not being handed out by Paul Inouye, being handed out be Paul Inouye, being stabbed multiple times in the face by other members of the forums who know where they live... etc... etc... etc... ad nauseum.

PS Paul, if I misspelled your last name, I'm sorry. Very sorry. Please don't hit me with the pink lightning if I did.

I'm glad to be part of the Beta test for this game. I think the game has a lot of potential. I'm disappointed in the upcoming changes to match making and grouping. My gaming group is small and we've been gaming together for many years. If we can't play the game together it's really not going to hold our interest, no matter how much we like the premise and content
