Yea, I look forward to get my hands on the orion, I am going to mod the frak out of that, at first I think I will replace the AC with a Gauss rifle, then get rid of those srms and up the lrm for some heavy duty stand off and get the lasers to pulse. It will be awesome.

That being said I dont really care about most heavies, the only ones I ever really liked are the Penetrator and Tempest. I was always more into either mediums or assaults.

Axeman, even with out the axe it's got a good look and a good load out. I like to see both the one with the AC/20 and the twin LRM launchers

Interestingly, for all you Orion lovers, is how absolutely destroyed it got in the 75 ton 'Mech poll. :(

In my experience the adage that "Majority is always right" is absolute horse ****. The majority is fickle and dumb. I point you to Act 3 Scene 2 of Julius Caesar. So accurate in its portrayal of the masses it's scary.

The Guillotine (Irian), downgraded Flashman (Defiance Industries), and downgraded Black Knight (Kong Interstellar) should all be fairly common...

According to the unit lists, the GLT isn't terribly uncommon - about 3 out of 100 heavies in FWL space, where the GLT is by far the most common. Second most common is the Flashman, with a commonality of 28 out of 1000 in Kuritan space. This is boosted by Operation Rosebud, where ComStar gave the Kuritans many downgraded SLDF machines. The Black Knight is a distant third in commonality, with a commonality of 7 out of 1000 in the Federated Suns, where the BK is the most common.

Total commonalities across all three are much lower when considering a "throughout the inner sphere" point of view. Basically, while these 'Mechs may be "in production" as downgraded variants, their actual output is on the order of 1 or 2 per year.

So you see, knowing this, seeing the field of battle filled with such units would be immersion breaking. Which is why I hope to see an alternative that does not include making rare SLDF 'Mechs as common as, erm, certain other 'Mechs.

I was once partnered with a MAD-5D(CM) with the Davion Heavy Guards. This model came out just prior to the 4th SW and it had the Streak2 replaced with a Guardian ECM (CT) and Beagle probe (LT). It was given to my company commander, and man, he survived everything that could be thrown against it. If it was availible, I drive it too. Max armor, jump jets, and all energy weapons, now that's awesome.

Whoa, you confused the heck out of me. 4th SW started in '28. Beagle and Guardian were prototyped in '45, and the -5D was prototyped in '47. How was this prior to the 4thSW?

Top heavies in my mind from the 3025 era:

DRG-1N Dragon
QKD-4G Quickdraw
CPLT-C1 Catapult
ARC-2R Archer
GHR-5H Grasshopper
WHM-6R Warhammer
ON1-K Orion

Among them, I find the Archer, Grasshopper, Warhammer and Quickdraw being my personal favs.

I want to drive an Orion so bad I loved that Mech in MW3. It's a faster Atlas which i love and i think it would update nicely. I'm not even going to mention it's most famous pilot...

The Grasshopper it's original TRO art may be fugly but I always use this mech in Pre 3050 TT games.

Also the MW Tactics guys did a nice redesign in my humble opinion.

Or the Quickdraw. I love FD's work!

Aside the conspicuous lack of large laser and presence of the ever mysterious LRM-8, that's a nice one. I bet FD can do even better.

Wow, that's the first Tactics 'mech that I've seen that wouldn't look completely out of place in MW:O. I like the cartoony, over-the-top feel of the tactics 'mechs, but some of the designs remind me too much of what Dark Age did to the Atlas.

You know the horrors of which I speak... T__T

well considering hell isnt freezing over any time soon, it might be a while, at least on the thor. warhammer we might see if they make the art different enough from the macross version (the only supposed reason we dont have it listed yet is that its a potential point of legal contention of the chasis appearence) thor is clan tech, you wont see one in the inner sphere for a couple years yet.

Harmony Gold didn't flip out over the Mechwarrior: Reboot trailer.

I started getting back into the tabletop version of BattleTech, and found that I started loving the Hammerhands in fights. It's quite the brawler and it flies. :D

There's a lot of flak scattering over the Orion, and I have to say it's getting a bit tiresome. The main claim to fame for the Orion is its survivability with its max armor configuration, and it's got a weapon for every occasion. You really can't be in a situation you can't fight your way out of in the thing. It's a multipurpose mech that deserves respect.

That being said, I'd like to see the Thunderbolt make an appearance in this game even though it's an Unseen. In my little group, a 3k battle value group of a Thunderbolt, Centurion and Valkyrie hasn't been beat yet.

This problem is precisely why we need to bring back the Age Of War-era heavies. Say a Star League cache was found, or a small company is doing a limited run for 'collectors'. The following would be perfect for filling out the Heavy class with 'Mechs without having to dip into the Unseen quagmire.

BKX-7K Battleaxe: 2x PPC, 2x LRM-5, 1x SRM-6. Similar to a Warhammer, but instead of the 2 Medium lasers, 2 Small lasers, and 2 Machine Guns, you get LRM-5s. Plus it's got Jump Jets!

KSC-3I Koschei: 1x AC/10, 2x Medium Lasers. Something for the Capellans to get excited about. Fast for a heavy and 12 tons of armor makes it a more dangerous design than the weapons would indicate.

HMH-3D Hammerhands: 2x AC/10, 2x Medium Lasers, 1x SRM-6. The 'Mech that made the Davions love their Autocannons. Basically an assault 'Mech with a speed of 54 kph.

CRS-6B Crossbow: 2x LRM-10s, 2x Medium Lasers, 1x PPC. No, I will not stop promoting this 'Mech in every thread! A beautiful mix of long-range firepower and speed, and it's one of the better-looking 'Mechs in my humble opinion.

I'd like to see the Cataphract, and I'd really like to see the eventual redesign being based on the CTF-1X.

6-8 months maximum from 2012 summer release. Clan Invasion starts spring 3050 and we are in spring 3049 already so far sooner than you think.
