It weighs more than twin MPLs, does less dps, and only gives you 120m of extra range.

Considering the above-average speed of this build, range shouldn't really be an issue.

(And for completeness sake, sniping with an ER large laser sucks too, don't bother with it, I tried.)

If you own a Jenner putting that 245 engine in the CN9-AL will make it go 79,4 kph.
I think I`ll swap my "zombie" Commando for CN9-AL:
STD245
TAG
2xLRM5 (360 ammo)
2xMPL
CASE
14 STD Heatsinks

You can contribute to the fight using LRMs, TAG enemies and brawl till the end!

270 free LRMs have the potential to do 540 damage.

I got the Cicada 2A and the tonnage of the standard engine 320 (29.5) only let me put 2 ML and 2 DHS with this you get 2.12 heat efficiency, with 2 MPL and 0 extra DHS you got 1.73 and didnt like it. The armor is 161 of 274.

I have Endo Steel, Ferro Fibrous armor and double heat sinks.

The only way is to change the engine to get tonnage for more armor and DHS.

in the end I got standard engine 300 with 121 speed. 4 DHS 14 in total, 2 MPL with 2.04 heat efficiency and 179 armor.

I can easily change it to 6sl and +1 DHS or 5 sl + tag. I think Cicada 2b have 2 lasers on head and 1 on ct you can make 3 ML like this.

6SL might be viable for it, but I guess it comes down to whether you prefer speed over toughness. I'm usually a light pilot but I personally love what a huge beating the Zombie Wang can take and remain 100% combat effective.

Yup trying it now and wow this thing can take a beating, everyone goes for the arm 1st and if you aim well you can just run rings around them, I put a 280 engine in and wow 90kph.

Looking forward to trying this, I rarely use my founder cat so I'll shove that engine into a wang and rebuy it later once I make mad profits.

This is one of those times when I feel like facepalming, if only because I didn't think of it already. I love doing screwed up stuff and tweaking the interpretation of the rules, but this trumps anything I've thought up so far. Damn.

Ok, I ran this in Pugs for a bit for giggles (This has to be one of THE best mech builds for pugging, any Vet. founder should think of picking one up if they like this style) before dropping with it (Zombie Wang) in my unit... I nearly got laughed off teamspeak (ok not really, but it was close and there was some groaning)... 1st or second match I was the last one standing, at something like 8% health... and over 900 damage and 5 kills. Clearly a fluke, but I got the last laugh with the guys.

I played the Zombie Wang all night (about 4 hrs), never scored less then 200 damage (except for a memory leak game where I had 4 fps for part of the match, scored 120 that time). 200 dmg doesn't sound like much, but remember this is a full 8 man drop that is coordinated... damage is spread fairly evenly among all 8 people. Average damage was between 250-350, with games over 400.

This really is NOT a bad mech build even for general play, I'm surprised at its durability and effectiveness. 90 kph and a fast torso twist lets you get into rear arcs and stay there. Well Done... Now, bring on the CN-9D.... mwahaha

Zombie Wang has pretty much become my go-to guy for whenever I realize I need to make a couple million in a few games. Averaging 250,000 a match is really nice, but he's also actually fun to play.

And not a drain on the team... that's the part I was surprised about. Its all well and good if the build is fun, but if you are screwing your team and causing losses then it is defeating the purpose for grinding c-bills.

Yes, this sums it up. These C-Bill grinding guides that I'm posting, I'm only doing so because they are combat effective, while being really cheap to run.

Anyone can just launch without repairs, but 99% of the time they're going to be a detriment to their team. It's only a few builds that can get away with partial repairs, and they can do this while still contributing just as much as a "normal" mech.

Vechs I need to thank you. Even on the first try with your build I was able to keep the attention of 1 Light, 2 Meds, 2 Heavies and 1 Assault for round about 3,5 minutes before they killed me. During this time my team brought down the other 2 enemies and they were able to shred away half of the remaining ones. Sure I died, but with a grinning face about the steamed pilots who couldn't bring me down as fast as they thought :D

An implicit lesson from this build that I thought I should make explicit:

Putting more weapons on a chassis is not always the right way to go; dropping weapons in favour of speed can increase your survivability and effectiveness immensely (without having to use an XL which partially negates survivability benefit you get from speed benefit due to dying from a side torso destruction).
