I just popped in to say that this topic would be vastly improved by the inclusion of a picture of the spreadsheet in use, in the first post.

Also, thanks a lot for putting this together and making it available to us, 3rdworld.

Okay, here comes Mech Lab v1.74.xlsm
  • Added more metrics, comments contain the discriptions
  • Added the ability to hide comments
  • Added Map heat (Thanks Bubba Wilkins), just select the map you want from the drop down.
  • Updated the MWO Heat Scale.
  • Removed the CTF-3L and Added the CTF-4X.
  • Updated CTF costs (Only missed it by ~300k, not too bad).
  • Added BAP
Let me know if you guys think it is getting too cluttered. If you think it is, I may let you hide some of them.

Thanks guys.

BAP should take 2 crits, not 1. Other than that and the aformentioned UAC5 damage/recycle stats, it looks great.

Whelp, it appears the heat scale has been altered again...

Gonna be a minute on an update guys. Thinking they lowered the missile HPS value right now, will take me a bit to track down.

Here is Mech Lab v1.75.xlsm
  • Updated LRM damage
  • Added CTF-IM
  • Added Mech Art (let me know what you think, if no one cares/likes it I will remove). The comment on the model will display the MWOnline Concept art for the chassis.
  • Corrected the MWOnline heat scale
  • VBA optimizations, Loading should be smoother and Copy Current should work better.
Heat Scale Changes:

They reduced the HPS values as they apply to the heat scale on several weapons. Currently only the Small Laser & Medium Laser use their full value.
  • PPC & ERPPC decreased by 25%
  • SPL & LPL decreased by 8%
  • MPL decreased by 6.5%
  • LL decreased by 2.5%
  • ERLL decreased by 1.5%
  • Ballistics & Missiles decreased by 25%

make it seem like they buffed the weapons?

An uninformed pilot sticks a ERPPC on his mech and says "wow still a 1.4 effeciency". Then overheats in ~20seconds.

You mean like their apporach to the trial mech training wheels.

Set the training wheel on fire and force people to jump through them.

OK, not sure if I'm losing it or not but looks like a problem with the MWO heat scale and the AC2 and AC5

I was playing around with the CTF-1M. I had 3 AC5s loaded with other weps and the MWO heat scale was at 1.02. I swapped out the AC5s with AC2s and each one caused the scale to drop so that 3AC2s plus the same other weps the MWO heat scale was at 0.83. The only change in loadout was the AC5s for AC2s. Seems the Ac2s are hotter then the AC5s?

I'll check it out. they would have had to just changed them, I am pretty sure they were accurate before Tuesday. I only checked my AC/20 & gauss build, it is possible they changed them and I did not notice.

Thanks.

Thanks for such a great program! Been using it since the first release.

Got some request (don't know if anyone brought it up).
1. Could we have a second row for the weapon stat to do quick comparisons
2. Perhaps add an ammo/shot counter for some of us brain dead guys (or at least add a value in the stat section for those who keep on forgetting how many rounds/shots a ton of X ammo holds).

Thanks again!

The AC/2 actually produces more heat than the AC/5. The AC/2 produces 1 heat every 0.5 seconds or 2 heat per second, the AC/5 1 heat every 1.7 seconds, or 0.59 heat per second.

But I wasn't aware that the MW:O heat scale even took this into account.

Update: Excel Mech Lab v1.76.xlsm
  • Added ECM (just says BAP / ECM as they are identical for Mech Lab Calcs & Price)
  • Added 20 more Save/Load Slots
  • Added a second weapon lookup dropdown
  • Removed Comment Mech pics, seemed little fan fare, and It reduces the file size.
To use the new Save/Load, simply select the slot you wish to save the mech Press "Save". It will prompt you to enter a description for the save, you may choose to enter a discription or press "cancel" to stop the process. There must be some value entered into the description or (default is a single space) the process will stop. There are now a total of 24 possible save locations. When selecting a new save it will pull the description and model of the mech saved into that slot.

Enjoy.

3rdworld - you are The Greatest! Thank you for all the save slots! Now I can have one file instead of 5!

EDIT:

Is it possible to list the save slots using description? Because now that I have all my save slots filled I have a hard time searching for a specific load-out.

BAP / ECM as they are identical for Mech Lab Calcs & Price, BUT only 4 mechs can equip ECM. So it may give somebody a wrong impression, that they could mount ECM on their Jenner :-)

I could probably do a drop down for the descriptions, that would update the save mech slot, but it would likely do something wonky if 2 descriptions were the same.

I think I will "red" out the second BAP / ECM on mechs not capable of using ECM.

EDIT: Just thought of this, how about a display that shows all save mech data? then you could just look for the mech you want?

the weapon compare info shows the stats for the weapon selected in the first row for both selected weapons.

Question: Is there any way to copy a configuration from an older version of the document to a newer version to benefit from bug-fixes or corrections like the heatscale etc.?

I see some features which might do exactly that (the "paste" field), but I have yet to figure it out. Can you help me out?

Ya, load the mech you want to bring over. Then click "Copy Current". This will put a build string onto your clip board. Then paste the build string into the paste box on the newer version of the mech lab. Then click "Load Temp". Loading Temp loads the build string located in the paste box. You can then save it where ever you want.

So really its just a matter of copying the build strings into the new version, loading them, then saving.

Note: The strings changed when they implemented Artemis. If your build you want to copy is older than that it won't work.

Indeed, that works like a charm. :) And for a while I guess. I just hadn't that many mech builds as of late so I simply rebuild them all once a new version was released. But that changed, I made many more and it would be a pain to rebuilt them all.

So, again, thank you very much.
