I gotta wonder exactly what would happen if you do choose to go down the path of a decentralized, alliance-based chain of command and an admitted alliance simply stops performing to a level of satisfaction accepted by the other members. Would you be able to kick them out or would that situation betray the principles of equality the group was founded on? It's not inconceivable that an alliance might see member burnout as time goes on. In fact, it's almost guaranteed.

And a CoC doesnt experience member burnout? A CoC suffers from the same problems that any Alliance of units does, and unfortunately the more people you add, the more problems you have...

There is no additional benefit from a Chain of Command vs an Alliance, because that is what a chain of command is. A Chain of communications, to me, is a bit more loose and something that is less of an alliance, and more of a tool to be used if you need it, but without leaders, who can enforce the call to arms? Different problems, same outcome.

Without solid, fair, level headed leaders, a CoC will never work. If the leaders are Egomanical, they will be selfish and foolhardy, in which they will make horrible mistakes on the basis of ego alone, will often be rash and abrasive to those underneath them that do not do exactly what they want, how they want, when they want, and will only have other leaders who support their point of view or are too spineless to say anything against them....it is for this reason that we have chosen not to participate. Why is this a problem? We would love the House Davion community to come together under a competent, fair, level headed chain of command. Thus far, no one has shown me (or a bulk majority of our community) that they have the right "stuff"

The question was more about the situation in which one alliance is falling far behind the rest in terms of skill or ability, I was just using player burnout as a possible origin for that situation.

Actually I think he makes a very strong point Fil.......Regardless, I am more than capable of having a civilized conversation about the topic....I just dont respond well to ignorance, excessive egotism, bullies or intimidation.....
