Once properly built the Yen is a fantastic mech.
Here is the build I use:

AC/20 + 4 Tons ammo
2x MPL
AMS + 1 Ton ammo
336/338 Armor
XL 280 Engine
Endo Upgrade
DHS Upgrade

With this build you can go 90.7KPH while beating people to death with the AC/20 and MPLs. You have AMS, Speed, and Full armor to protect you as well. The torso twist is great for killing Jenns and Cicadas with the MPLs, its also difficult for them to get away. It been a very solid killing machine for me. You just have to be careful your AC/20 doesn't get taken off, you can use your torso twist and speed to avoid this.

I have the YLW also and yeah its not that great but a good cbill grinder. I had decided I would not get any cbills besides from playing, grind all founders mechs + YLW to complete first pilot trees then see how much cbills I have. I have almost completed the YLW but man I so want to upgrade its not funny. What you posted is a good setup but costs a lot. Might be better to trick up the founders atlas I don't know. But 90KPH speed is nice on YLW :)

I only ever grief the Yen-lo-wangs for supporting PGI going pay to win.

Can't win in a Mech/tank that's available to everyone I see?

I'm going to go buy one this evening simply because you made this insipid post. I may never even use it, but it sure will look nice in my mech bay next to my founder's mechs.

Anyone who thinks Yen Lo Wang is pay to win is an *****. The HBK-4G can do exactly the same things and has more hard points to play with... same for the HBK-4H. The Yen Lo Wang can't even move it's arm side to side so it doesn't really get any benefit from having the AC/20 arm mounted... in fact it's weaker because of it because it's painfully easy to blow the arm off of it.

Actually the YLW can currently do something NO OTHER Mech can do. It can slot an AC 20 in one of its arms. This is a unique trait and its made possible by one of the core Mech joints that was removed. But it means little in actual practice since the gun isn't really improved by this and you can simply have the arm blown off. Everyone knows your AC 20 is there so that's the first thing they will shoot at. Once its gone you're reduced to a grand total of 2 crit slots for secondary weapons. Any other Mech doesn't have this problem. If a Dragon loses his wonder arm; it has more secondary weapons/crit slots to fight with. The YLW's unique trait is more of a curse for those wanting to use his boost. People complain P2W not knowing this is actually the worst Centurion variant in actual combat.

Not bad but you can no longer be a zombie. IE this mech is so survivable with standard engine its insane. I have literally been down to a CT, head and 1 leg and stills cored a kill and lived the match. The XL to me is not worth it. The endo steel I already did in mine and the DHS are on order.

That said I paid cash, and I bought this mech. No one has given be hell about it yet. But to be honest its not the best mech out there. So anyone who gives me hell about it really just don't get it. This mech in no way can be considered a play to win mech. Its been implemented in a such a way that I get something different but besides the extra cash, I get no real in game advantage.

Also, the ac20 has been entertaining me more then I figured it would. one game I got 4 kills with it. But its also fun when a jenner dose not realize I am there, comes up behind me and stops and presents his back to me. Just as the guy started to move away in a straight line form me, I fired the ac20. His already damaged RCT crumpled under the shot and he just fell forward cored out wondering what the hell was that.

I have been using the Wang a lot since OB and it is a mean machine. As far as your arm you have a shield on the left one for a reason, between shots you should be turning your cannon out of the line of fire! Not to mention with elite skills and an xl 280 your topping out at 97kph making you a great hit and run skirmisher and scout hunter.

The best way to truly grief a YLW is to shoot off his right arm. :)

I have been in countless matches now where someone is piloting the yen and they are getting grief for spending cash on it and how bad it is...WHO CARES if someone wanted to (not that they can of course) paint there mech pink does it really matter? I may even buy the yen myself because it has a cool paint job, more money than sense? probably but it still doesn't really matter does it.

Lets just let people enjoy doing whatever they want to do please!

People will be jealous over ANYTHING. I remember a very long thread just awhile ago about some founders being jealous that their limited edition founders mechs give 5% less cbills than the YLW. Just laugh at the ridiculousness of it.

Wait, what about a Zombie Wang?

Also, as I just posted in my other thread, it makes absolutely no sense to grief the wallet warriors. THEY'RE THE REASON FREE PLAYERS HAVE A GAME TO PLAY.

As I said in another Thread... Every time I got grief in WoT for being a Wallet Warrior I would ask the Welfare Warriors when they had to stop playing to pickup their Food Stamps.

I have yet to see any thing like this in game no one seems to care when i run in mine and i have not seen any one ***** whine or attack people just since they got a YLW.

As for people talking about P2W you badly need to stop using words you don`t understand.

I've made the mistake of leaving a gimped Yen alone with nothing but his Med Lasers left.

I would own a Yen if I could change its skin.

Im not a fan of XL. I have tried them in a centurion and found it to be too much of a liability. Everyone is already hunting arms and such. Side torso's get mauled lots, despite turning away from fire.

Ac/20 4 tons
2 ML
225 standard
DHS
Endo.

speed is 72.9 without elite. Still works well but has amazing longevity and is still fun to zombie

Wangs aren't pay to win, they tend to be pay to die. They will probably release its varient sooner or later. My big gripe is the "claws". Its just a skin big whup. If your going to bring a buy only mech make some cool cosmetic changes, even if they aren't effective. That thing runs what $13.00, so be a bit more creative.

If they release the varient with no boost/name/skin I'll be perfectly happy and I doubt anyone would griew TLW ever again.

I doubt PGI plans to do this at the moment though as their own advertisement bills it as a "Unique varient" Only if we the community stand up to them selling unique Mech variants for cash can this be averted.

For those of you who seem to be un-informed on the issue, no one care about the boost when talking about it being p2w, we care about it being a variant which is unavailabe for CB, the first step int eh road to p2w.

The YLW is missing arm joints which allow it to mount the AC20, and giving it more criticals than any other centurian. This also actually makes aiming at anything but a light mech EASIER with the wonky "torso always follows arm too slowly even when arm is moving at below troso max speed" aiming system thats currently in place. Also the YLW has higher torso rotation speed and max torso twist angle versus ANY mech in the game right now to make up for the arm joint.

These traits are unique to the YLW and can only be "bought" for real money.

You have no Idea how happy it makes me to know that by posting on the internet I have caused you to waste 30$ while simultaneously showing how immature you are by taking the teenage angst filled stance of "That guy said something I don;t like so I'm going to do the exact opposite out of spite"

Thank you sir, thank you, never before have my words on the internet been worth so much.

I love when they greif me for hawing a YLW.. It gives me a valid reason to send a "papa bear lives you to sweetie" back to them but the matter of the fact is that most other "named" mechs are heavies or assaults and i do not pilot those classes so i saw no harm in getting the YLW.

Also i did promise Draggy that i would do it and he/she/it have been such a special friend that i could not let him/her/it down.

YLW is P2L. It's one of the worst mechs in MWO right now IMO.
I see a YLW and all I can think is easy kill, soon as you blow off that AC/20 they are next to worthless.
Blowing an arm off a 50 tonner, takes me all of two shots with my lasers.
I wouldn't care if they put 50% bonus cash on it.
The founders Atlas is about twice as good and the founders Jenner is three times as good.
The hunchback does everything a YLW can do and it does it better.
Even the founders hunchback is better, although not by much.
For my list of mechs I won't drive, the YLW is on it.

I think they will bring it in after they make a few bucks. Either way its better than WoT where you cant hit a premium tank with a bullet.
