great interveiw, cant wait to see the ui interface and how the visuals in the mechbay are. one question, ive read alot and dont remember seein the answer, but with the visuals on mech customization, will componant change visually or stay the same? (ie put a ppc on the arm of a mech, will it change visually to represent that or just stay the same?)

MechSpecs digs out an important nugget

JR7-F Variant confirmed!!!!!!!

But... as I understand the MechLab from last week, you can make a JR7-F from a JR7-D. Drop the SRM and ammo and add 3 tons armour. Done deal. <.<

This is true but he admits he only has a limited experience with MechWarrior 3 and may not be versed in all the variants etc. etc. etc.

Look at that; the main interview was edited to remove that little tidbit of info :D

Nice catch on the info slip! :P

Although yes, it sounds like it's a pretty simple change to make in the Mechlab from the D variant. Not sure why that'd make a special variant for it which you had to gain mech XP for, since it really doesn't change the mech's function very much.

I'm still really wondering if the parts you can obtain and move around can be destroyed and need to be repurchased / salvaged.

Either way, it is interesting that it confirms my suspensions that the parts will be purchased separately for use in the Mechlab, which is neat!

I believe the mechs could be made to model other varients, but if I remember from the mech lab piece last week, they said that different varients would have different hardpoints and different amounts of module slots. So the initial varient you pick could limit you or put you into a better position for your preferred role later on.

Can anyone back me up on this or point out something different?

:D Hmmm makes me think.....Is Paul giving away in a subtle way one of the tracks in-game or hinting at a comical trailer potential with this song? Awesome ideas

Great to meet you all. Looking forward to abusing your work.

And as a database manager I can appreciate the dislike of "science projects";

"Hey, need you to dig out some info for me."
<looks over the list> "Okay, should have a good data set in one, two hours tops."
"No good, got a meeting in 15 minutes. Any way to hurry that up?'"
</facepalm>

It was actually 2400 missiles I managed to load out, needless to say for a brief while I brought new meaning to the words fire support :D at least until Thomas hit me with a few volleys of lasers and I was toast, turns out carrying that much ammo should come with a safety warning :P

When it comes to dispensing death, I'm color-blind.

I'm also a lead farmer, but that's another thing entirely. :D

You could fly into the air just by CASE-ing all that ammo at one time.

So did the variant show like 85/75Tons? What stopped you from putting on more?

Ammo didn't have a weight value set, so he literally just put ammo anywhere ammo would go.
