Running a new T.Flight.Hotas.X and the throttle refuses to work. Well it works but it automatically throws me into full speed and I have to use the toggles on the back to reverse.

Tried all the config files bit the throttle still refuses to work correctly. Any suggestions?

I've been really busy with work lately and I haven't been on these forums in a long time, not since before the game went Open Beta. I used to have an elaborate guide of how to setup the T Flight Hotas, but the thread seems to have been deleted. And this thread is a lot shorter than it used to be, so I'm guessing a lot of things were lost when the Beta forums were opened up.

To fix your problem try throwing cl_joystick_throttle_range = 0 into the user.cfg file. Sounds like that's the problem.

Kinda sad that my thread is lost. Was going to just point you there...

1. Yes

2. cl stands for Command-Line/Client & I stands for Input Device and in this case the joystick.

3. Look at the gp lines in the config. :D

Eternal Core,

Thank you for your response. I've been following this thread since fairly early on. And many of the changes, (especially that concerning the throttle) have been exceptionally helpful. There is truly only one major issue I've noticed that has hampered my enjoyment of using the joystick as my primary control, and that is the what I believe is referred to as the "deadzone".

I've noticed that there is a circular area around the neutral position of the stick in which I can move which does not effect pitch or twist of the torso. Outside of this area, the controls seem fine. But it makes precision aiming extremely difficult.

I hope there is an easy fix which I have just overlooked, but I thought you would certainly be the one to ask. I own a Saitek X-52 controller which I imagine is virtually the exact same controller as the X-52 pro. Any help with this issue would be extremely appreciated.

The standard Saitek X52 has a Dead-zone issue where it doesn't read movement until it reaches a certain point on the stick movement. Now There is a way to fix this but it requires opening up your X52 and modding it; Here's a link on how to do that: http://www.warishell...d-less-deadzone

This issue has been solved for the Newer X52-pro(black ones) joysticks by Saitek but it is still an issue for the standard ones.

Happy Modding. :)

I know it may have been said before (I couldn't be bothered to weed out the one line or so if it's here somewhere).

Couldn't you use a repeater program of some sort to mimic pressing the button at different rates based on the angle of a joystick in order to simulate analog stick style turning of the legs?

I know I have seen programs that do this (I use one called D3Gamepad to play Diablo 3 with my Afterglow 360 Controller).

No because of this:

NOTE:
Remember, turning a Mech (it's feet) is a DIGITAL (on/off) movement at the moment. This means when you press left or right to turn your Mech, it turns just like you're pressing the A or D key on the keyboard. Slight movements on the joystick react like a key press. We know this is not how sim players want it and it should be small movements = slow turns. The problem is, the fix requires a huge code update on Mech movement. This is something we cannot tackle at the moment but it IS going to be addressed. We just can't give you a confirmed date of delivery.

What you posted there is EXACTLY why it would work...

What I am speaking of is a software that would read the angle of the joystick/thumbstick input
and press the A or D keys at a set speed based on angle. so at 0° it would register 0 presses per second
and say at 65° it would register at 8 presses per second
which would provide a slightly "jerky" movement (barely noticeable IMHO) and provide a near analog experience.

I have run into a new problem I am using a flight stick pro 3d on windows 8 and after modifying the user file as described one of two things happens. Either the twist starts spinning wildly out of control at the slightest touch totally ignoring game config settings. Or it stops working at all with zero reaction no buttons, nor movements respond. I am at a loss as to why this is happening nothing seems to help.

it's the twist I am having such trouble with, no other functions seem to be effected.

Thanks I finally figured out I had not set the throttle to the actual throttle in the options in game, it was set to the slider on the back of the throttle.. So a simple mistake on my part.

Now anyone have any suggestions on how to speed up the twist of the mech? I've played with the look settings and honestly they do not seem to do anything, shame there's no training area to test these out, so when you make a change you load in, look iike a noob if they dont work, die and have to start over for the next match.

Actually he is right. The problem is that MWO does not allow tapping to slowly turn the mech. It simply stutters the turn at a higher rate, the turn speed is still solid.

I tried this out with my CH controllers, and believe me its impossible to aim steadily while the mech is stuttering while turning like that.

I have a problem wih stick responce. But first ... oh thank you thank you thank you for showing me how to get rid of the massive default deadzone. That was killing it for me completely.

Now though Im having issues getting acceptable torso twist speed, An earlier poster did mention that the three level dont seem to be working anymore. Did you go back to normal sensitivity and gain as well? I would rather leave the gain alone as I prefer to set that up as much as possible from my profiling software. Since that means I can use button presses to change gain and sensitivity if I like.

But none of that helps if i cant at least get full torso twist speed from my mech ingame?

OK, so, im not sure if the different zoom levels settings are actually working, but setting some gain fixed the max speed for torso twisting issues.

Again, thank you so much for this info.

I'm posting links to this in a few other joystick question threads.

Does anyone have usable user.cfg settings for the Saitek X52? (not Pro)

I have tried all of them listed here six ways from Sunday and can not get better than a laggy mess with the stick no matter what I set the values to.

... and on your typical joystick, but you still created this thread trying to help joystick owners but not gamepad players? Seems a bit random to me. Also not sure what your "designed for PC" is aimed at - don't PCs have support for all kinds of different input devices for more than two decades now?

If my X52 woke up tomorrow with as many buttons and as much functionality as a 360 controller, it'd kill itself :P even in hardcore flight sims I haven't found a use for every button in all three modes. The same for the 18 macro ("G") keys on my G510; in one mode it's too many, in three modes it's just silly. I love consoles, my PS3 has seen its fair share of action over the years, but there's no comparison... PC has far more control and waaaay more input options. I never understood the "console controller on a PC" crowd. But eh, to each their own I suppose.

I tried all of the steps, but my X52 still isn't working. Everything is Y-flipped; forward on the throttle makes me go backward, forward on the stick lifts the nose. And the twist isn't even working at all. I'll try over again from scratch though. I can't see why it should matter, but does it affect anything if the game is installed on my D (HDD 1) drive rather than my C (SDD) drive?

@EternalCore

Man between helping folk like me with poor frame rates and this thread you are really busy.

Which makes me a litle sad to ask but I do not have the x52pro right now, (that would be a couple of weeks off), so I am making do with a Cyborg Evo Force. I know there is nothing to be done for force feedback but is there a way to set up your x52 settings to work with the Evo that will let me use it to target?

There are a few diferences after all like only one top hat on the Evo.

Sorry I am not all that tech savy with this stuff. Heck if you tell me where you learned to do this I will go read up there.

Wish I could get my old as dirt TM F22Pro, F16TQS and Rudders to work with this game. I used to rage in MWII with that set up, but that is 1997 tech and I dont even think they make a converter for 15 pin to USB, (Second edit to add: I stand corrected, they actually do), or a drivers/control UI for Win7/Vista for it, (Fourth edit to add: come to find out you can use a thumb drive as a bootable and set up the old TM DOS drivers on that)...

First edit to add: Though I am really thinking about it. http://www.gamespot....ro-on-windows-7, http://www.warrenern...om/thrustmaster

Third edit yo add: Kill analog pot jitter on old school TM products http://www.combatsim...9/TMdigital.htm

Gotta love analog.

Heh ya I'm also helping people on the Far Cry 3 Forums. :)

Anyways ya mwo has no force feedback and not many games do anymore these days. And You have to manually assign the Axes and buttons in the options of MWO.

Using a really old joystick may get you killed allot as they are very inaccurate to today's joysticks.

Trust me once you go X52-pro you never go back!!!

I have a weird issue with my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick and MWO.

Whenever I use the settings for the user.cfg file in the first post my mech will continually turn it's torso in one direction "left" on the x-axis. If I leave the user.cfg file blank I do not have this problem. I have followed the directions on where to add or remove the ";" at the beginning of the line as stated to do so in the first post for my particular joystick.

I have also tested the joystick in other games without issues. Please advise. Thanks
