That was the last time that we saw a QuadMech (Tarantula) in a official MW/MC game.
Time to bring the quads back to the scene.

Both the Goliath and the Scorpion would need make-overs from the frankly poor TRO art, but if anyone can make them sexy FD can...in fact I think it's a long overdue job within the franchise

And if we're going to talk make-overs for the Quads we might as well fluff them as having turrets for the sake of FPS-Sim gameplay (so no extra code and animation such as sidestepping), after all we are talking about only 2 'mechs here, IIRC 1 an unseen, the other a butt ugly AT-AT.
I'd take a Scorpion anyday over a Panther and even a lot of mediums, shot for shot it can last to get some criticals in, and when we get to the falling over stage the Scorpion is going to win. As for folks not seeing the hardpoint potential of the Goliath...sometimes I weep for the future of 'mechkind

Although there's only 2 of them right now (but more as the time-line progresses) they would fill 2 weight classes with Quad options....something that would be great of added gameplay.

Anyway, I don't see why not, I probably won't pilot them often if they were included, but after doing a bit of research, the Tarantula looks like fun (although unless I missed something, apparently it doesn't exist yet)

Here is a fanmade design of a GOL-5D Goliath. It isn't FD art, but it gives lil impressions how it could look. I agree and i'm sure FD could turn ugly TRO designs like Scorpion and Goliath into sexy quad redesigns. The Tarantula is a beauty and doesn't need many "facelifts"!

Well, you've pretty much covered it.
Part of it is more theoretical, as I mentioned earlier. I get that Battletech and Mechwarrior are science-fiction, so the suspension of reality is a given. But the designs of the quad 'mechs and how they relate to armor, weapon loadouts, and especially speed are stretching creative reason. A 55 ton Scorpion with a side mounted leg design can hit a top speed of nearly 100 km/hr... ha ha, really? And that's not even the fastest quad.
Not to mention obvious disadvantages like the space they take up (shipping, transport, city fighting) and how vulnerable the legs, again in theory, should be. If there were any reason for quad 'mechs to be viable, you'd think it'd be armament, but it isn't.
To me, there's pretty much a good reason quad 'mechs aren't common. I don't care if they make the game, but I wont pilot one. I'd personally rather pilot any bi-pedal 'mech.

32 years is a long time! Only 5 years until I get my ZPH-1A Tarantula. I would also pilot an IS Scorpion, but the SCP-1N desperately needs a redesign by FD.

Should be nuanced differently from bipeds, piloting, targeting etc.

You obviously did not look up "Dougram: Fang of the Sun", a japanese ANIME made from 1981 to 1983. (ummm, that's a little before the TT game - launched in 1984) Quads were first seen in Anime decades ago so your assertion that this was me "Attempting to compare them to anime in some mad attempt to discredit them is really disgusting" makes you a tad inattentive to what you are reading or actually what you wanted to see. The genesis of the quad mecha in BT is wholly found in Anime so there is no comparison being attempted - it is simple fact. And the use of the term "disgusting" tells me you do not like being told something you were not aware of. As if you are actually physically repelled by the information (which using the term "disgusting" implies).
As for mechwarriors piloting quads, I doubt you can find one instance of a passage indicating Mechwarriors actually piloted them. Every account in print indicates that Mechwarriors are trained to pilot Bi-pedal mechs. To that, I say, "Show me" evidence to the contrary.
Here is the extract describing the "Crabgunner" from Dougram: "Abitate's F44A "Crabgunner" was a 12-meter, 4-legged walking tank"
A tank - even the Japanese modelers did not consider them mecha.
And I do not care that they are Canon, it doesn't mean they need to be in the game. They were included to bring in guys like yourself. And my point of view is just as valid as the next guy (which you are - the next guy) and I believe the quads to be too wide a platform to use anywhere other than wide open spaces. So present a rational, cogent argument about why the things should be in MWO - just cuz they are cool looking does not cut the mustard with me, though. And choose some of your words more carefully next time. "Disgusting". Really? "Presumptuous" I could have bought. (Maybe you should take up reading and broaden your vocabulary beyond teen-speak)
If a quad appears on the battlefield, it will be the first thing to die. Imagine the rage quits of the quad pilots. Their tears will be delicious.

Still does not specify that Mechwarriors were piloting them. You make an assumption. Oh, Really! As for getting my @$$ kicked, it is a game. I did not worry about getting hit when I was a tanker, so a game frightens me not.

Y U NO MAKE SENSE??? Mechwarrior-is a pilot of a battlemech, Quadruped 'mech-a mech that uses it's "Arms" for legs which gives these designs some additional stability and maneuverability, i thought you could add 2 and 2 together, but i guess i was wrong >.>
