Interesting request. We had a running poll. About 500 players said yes and about 100 said no. If you used this info to represent the whole community that would be about 80% would pilot a Quad if placed in the game.

It's important to note that just because I would pilot a quad and have one in my hangar, doesn't mean that's the *only* mech I would use. I suspect this is true of the vast majority of folks who voted in similar fashion.

Yes but you would at one point pilot it, so it counts ;)

Indeed. I just like to alleviate ambiguity. =)

It's a true shame we lost the poll in one of the mergers. =((

Having one around would be interesting, depending on how they set it up, it could be lots of fun. Given a chance to drive one, I'd do it, at least once, on a Regular basis, I dunno, depends on how its set up.

Somewhat incorrect - at least one appeared as an NPC 'mech in MW2 or MW2 Mercs, I honestly can't remember which. But I know there was a mission where you were escorting a Scorpion I believe.

How can you say they are not part of canon? ;) They first appeared in the "Technical Readout: 3025" published in 1986.

It's MW2 and it was a Tarantula. Someone else posted about that somewhere in this thread... somewhere.

In simple words, Quads are awesome. In complex words... they're awesome, and though you may not like them, they are an intergral part of the Battle-Tech universe, and will undoubtedly be included in this game. If you don't like it, simply don't use them.

Where have the devs hinted at this?

Just wanted to chime in that, yes, if they can come up with some meaningful mechanical advantage Quads have I would gladly try them out. The Tarantula was a favorite of mine in the board game, and I would have liked the Sirocco if its gun choices weren't so astoundingly bad.

Us lovers of LAMs and Quads can look forward to. ", the remains of a long-forgotten Scorpion LAM project were discovered in a bunker on Hesperus II in 3065. Here prototypes were found, but since the project was regarded as "unworkable" and abandoned it is extremely unlikely that these prototypes were functional LAMs."

Does this leave the door open for a LAM/QUAD hybrid in the 3080s.

Edit: Well that would be kind of silly, but id love to derp in one, i can only imagine all the nerdrage from all the LAM and QUAD haters alike

They see me flyin' they hatin'

Not only NPC!
In the Mechwarrior 2-imple for Playstation 1, you could pilot the Tarantula! I loved it and it was very effective.

Quads are NOT (and never will be) an integral part of the BT universe (do you know what integral means?) - at best they are a footnote. That they have been mentioned at all is merely an amazing bit ot trivia . They have never decided the outcome of ANY battle in the BT canon. Shunned by Mechwarriors and relgated to an infantry support role. Thrown into the canon fiction to bring in ID-10-Ts who would not give BT/CBT/MW a second look otherwise.

Integral (adj) - Necessary to make complete; essential or fundamental: "integral sections".

NOBODY can sanely argue that quads are integral to BT let alone "undoubtedly be included in this game". You're smoking dope, otherwise mate.

They were in Dougram:Fang of the Sun because they needed something in that Anime that could maintain a stable platform in wide open environments, like deserts or snow fields, places where a bi-pedal mech would not be as stable. The writers of the BT fiction and TT game must have been bored.

Sure why not i would pilot a 4 Legger. If a enemy raven came by to close at 150kph i would just toss out one of my 4 legs and trip him and watched as he face planted it in the terrain. Then fire a full alpha salvo of ssrm6 into his underside :) well you get the picture ;) .

So i assume you haven't heard of Cochraine's Goliaths?
Third Succession War

In 2990 Colonel Fiona Cochraine took command of the newly reactivated unit which was re-equipped with ‘Mechs found in a Star League repair depot on Tantara. Through this long-lost depot, found under an arctic ice shelf, the unit gained the Confederation's only allotment of Goliath ‘Mechs.[2]
In the 3005 the unit finally saw action in defense of Indicass against elements of the Ceti Hussars. There the Goliaths destroyed two companies of Davion Wolverine and Ostroc 'Mechs, causing the Hussars to retreat.

You've covered that base quite well, no need for anyone else to bother, really.

An historically and canonically insignificant event. A footnote. As I pointed out. Statement of fact is not flaming. Making statements because someoneone does share your point of view is.

@ Willim Peterson, you are just another troll yourself, I have read your drivel. You flame without rationale. Just because you can.
