What you see are the results of a imperfect world aka practically no matchmaking. At all.

I'm just so surprised to read people complain about group size of 4.
In a Mechwarrior game.
Is it just me or ist the smallest unit in any Mechwarrior or Battletech game (disregarding the Clans) always a so called Lance that consists of 4 Mechs?
Actually, as I started out in closed Beta I was more surprised that they had an 8vs8 going instead of a 4vs4.
Not very Old School if you catch my drift. Still, it works so who am I to argue with that.
Now there's all kind of people in this game. Some prefer hunting in packs, some sneak around on their own. Dogs and cats I guess.
So the 8-pack is reduced to lance size. I guess it takes time to get used to that. Quite an irritation.
And on top of that the lonely wolfs, or cats maybe , didn't get nerved at all because obviously their game hasn't changed. More irritation if someone bothered to think about it. Which actually you shouldn't.
A Lance is still a strong formation. It leaves lots of rooms for tactics.
And as it has been mentioned before, you still can 2-Lance most of the time if you get your timing right.
Thats what you got teamspeak for. You can go 3-2-1 "Press the button" with 8 people simultaneously, right?
Ok, I'll admit that I'm neither an expert on Teamspeak nor on teams and guilds as such.
YOU try Voicechat with your girlfriend usually sleeping about 2 meters from your computer.
YOU try finding a team without it.
So I'm not going to tell anyone how to feel about the size of their team.
I simply tell people the same thing I tell myself in the bathroom:
"It's not the size that matters...."

But wouldn’t that imperfection be divided rather evenly/randomly on both sides?

Sometimes Win, sometimes Lose. At least, its no longer getting stopmed in 90% of all Puckteamgames and have some Fun from Time to Time. Nice, i like that.

I was in a pug drop that I managed to get 5 kills in before I was taken down. This game was a loss.I killed 5 of the 8 enemy mechs and my team still lost.
I should have taken a screen shot of the scoreboard.
First name was an enemy player
Second name was mine
next 7 names enemy players
rest were my puggies with a combined damage output less than my total.
There is an amazing amount of terrible combined with terminal stupid in the puggie pool.
Out of frustration with almost always being the only player on my team to do anything other than go AFK,suicide or run uselessly into the jaws of death I went back to 4 man premades and boring LRM fueled pugstomps.
Well at least match maker phase two will put 8 man premades vs 8 man premades I honestly want challenging fights.

I am no expert but wouldn’t it be unwise to release a game under these conditions? And I say that with the understanding that "Open" is pretty much release (or am I wrong?). I would think the new players experience would be vital to game success and money making.

I remember a game, playing Fatlas and scoring 4 kills an 1 assist with more than 1200 pts of Dmg.
The team still lost. I facepalmed myself till bleeding.

I'm Pug, but i have been on numerous groups since patch now. all pug groups need is a *bit* of direction, which being joined with a 2-4 man team provides. Doesnt even need chat/TS, just seeing half your team go "left" is enough normally.

YOU HAD BETTER BE READING YOUR FORUMS YOUR GAME IS ON THE ROPES AND YOUR ABOUT TO LOSE YOUR MOST IMPORTANT CLIENTS, and its still only beta!
I hope from a business standpoint you realize that your core of hardcore followers (your bread and butter your residual income for years and years) are already here. We are the players that will get new players to stick around BECAUSE they will discover that this game ONLY!!!! shines with coordinated team work. This style of combat does not accommodate pugs w/o communication and typing to a bunch of kids you don't know and don't give a **** is not going to cut it.
I know your working on it and testing beta, but hey i'm a beta tester and i'm giving you feed back. I loved this game pre patch, now i can't bring myself to play.
My suggestion ROLL BACK AND RETHINK
Oh and I remember hearing in interviews that you guys were pretty familiar with lore.. how then could you forget that Artemis is not indirect fire but ony line of sight
Also please fix this LRM fest ASAP you **** enough people for a 2 weeks and your going to lose many for life and it will be months for many others to come back to give it a try and at that with a bitter taste in their mouths.
again FIX LRMs, ADD MORE GROUP MAKING FUNCIONALITY DON'T TAKE AWAY THE ONE!!!!!! FEATURE THAT MAKES THIS GAME TRULY GREAT FULL TEAM PLAY OR G. T. F. O.
p.s. this is the forums so using familiar language and tone for flaming nerd rage, I'm a beta tester and my testing experience of 1 evening of this patch has left me wanting to kick puppies... in the face.... into lava or blenders i'm not sure yet... i love you guys this game is great i love it pre patch it was ammmaazzing and soooo close to balanced.. if you keep this lesson learned in mind you will have a great game on your hands and dedicated players for years...

I put together a few thoughts in this thread: Playing Together. Let's help them out by telling them what we want and not only complaining that it's broken. I think it's clear that it's broken... maybe they need some help figuring out what to do with it?

No, it was just a bad choice of how to fix it, a really bad choice. If they continue to pander to puggers they are digging their own financial grave.
So for the next two weeks the game will be much less enjoyable I don't want to just pub stomp all day i want good team v team competition. But, I do not think this was the way to do it. With so many pug players just suiciding for cbills , afking etc there is little incentive for me to even play through these next two weeks i played for a few days before realizing that I did not want o play as a pugger because I do not find it enjoyable to play team based games with team members you can't rely upon to work with you or communicate.

Why not just do premade vs premade? Non premade vs non premade? Doesn't seem that hard.

Lead: "Roger, firing LRMs"

Scout: "A is dead, locking and TAGing B"
