Two LRM boats? Position them about 400m apart. Jenners swarming one? Have the other guy nuke the Jenners. I have been killed with a single salvo from a C1 - That didn't happen pre-patch. We can't even split targets like we used to - Previously this would mean they all die because you have two options:
1) Lock the Jenner on your lancemate and die quickly to the Jenner stood behind you as you must maintain facing to get a lock.
2) Try to avoid dying to the Jenner on you.
There was no winning for the LRM boat - Even if he got a lock and fired before being killed, it would take 3-4 salvos to kill a Jenner which is more than enough time to get cored from the back. Not now, we just can't survive coordinated LRM boats any more. We die. Fast. We've completely changed tactics, we can't scout any more out of fear of being the first target. Alpha always dies. The first thing the Cats can lock will get pelted until it's out of lock - If the first thing they can lock is a Jenner then goodnight Irene. Cover doesn't work. The LRMs rain in from the skies above! Hide behind that mountain all you want, they fly up and over. The ridiculously sharp angle means they deal more damage to rear armour than front armour because of your velocity, too.
So to emphasize the point:
Pre-patch we devoured LRM boats for breakfast. They were free kills. We targetted them first because while they threatened the team, they meant nothing to us.
Post-patch we daren't peak our heads over the hills for fear of an LRM lock against us. The Striker is scared of the Missile Boat. This is a problem.
Actually I try and make myself alpha so I can do the lrm dance (as in dodge them all, easiest to do in the start as they are all from one direction although if they use A4 direction is not rly an issue so you can do it at any point of the game) and have some of my team make it halfway before I push....if i am feeling team friendly. But the spirit of your post is right

Using what a "decent player" does is bad because a "decent Jenner" should have no problems dealing with an lrmboat but a "decent lrmboat" has no problems dealing with a Jenner....
