I think a skin , and Winner's Page so everyone can see . Most of us like to have something very few have and we can show off maybe a skin with a golden gun cover for weapons. ;)

further thoughts:

enough MC credit for one additional mechbay.
a 5% (or so) bonus to xp/cbills until the next tournament has a winner.

or even a list of some of the many of the options in this thread, and pilots get to choose what they want.

Once a month would be fine

...and once per year make the twelve winning teams have a proper tournament with live streaming and and...

...I'll stop dreaming, for now ;)

For what rewards given I put "Other-Listed in my post." Not sure if they actually read these but i think that a specialty skin for the winner would be cool. A skin that is only unlockable by winning tournaments such as these.

You know, it would be interesting if we had the Clans around and you could award the winners with a piece of Clan tech.

On prizes I voted other because there was no "anything" as a choice. Really I don't care if it is cbills, MC, cockpit fluff, special tags where the founder tag is now, certificates, mech skins, anything at all is fine. Beck I'd even play for no prize so long as entry is free

I love this idea, gives new players something they can jump into with out any handicap, and be part of a

challenge of skill rather than just "best mech wins".I voted MC as reward, but maybe there could be a match

every 2 weeks, and a championship once every month or 2.

I don't think you have to worry about "having it too often" because of schedules, not everyone is going to

be able to compete On the decided match days, and more matches just means more participation, and you

can always choose to wait for the championship matches as long as you have earned a place by winning

enough matches during the "league" play (maybe have to participate in at least 2 matches a month and

have high enough scores to qualify) to participate in championships.

As far as having only "fluff" rewards, just realize that means you won't get as many participants, offer

something (a small amount of course) real value, i.e. name on the front page, C-Bills or MC and you will

see A LOT more participation.

Trial by fire shoudl be a once a month deal and reward for the overall winner should be something you can't get otherwise.

EG, a special skin, a different looking mech (eg a Dragon with two ballistic hardpoints, one in each hand...) etc.

MC or CB rewards are *meh*

Possible prizes:

A mechbay slot's worth of MC (300)

Small decals that could be cumulative (akin to kill symbols Aces had on their fighters)

A unique skin, as long as it wouldn't eliminate a customizable skin possibility for the cash store

Maybe a little dashboard trophy for participation.

The game is in no way ready for trial by fire.

Phase 3 I think would help legitimate the tourney. Also, MC would be a great reward for anyone winning the tournament. I think a trophy bobblehead might be an idea in the future, once the tournament gets bigger. But phase 3 should tell us a little more about the matchmaking quirks....I'd wait.

I'd say you should hold one every trial cycle, that way its practically assured that someone will get to play their favorite trial mech every 2nd event.

I made some suggestions about a similar topic here http://mwomercs.com/...-as-an-e-sport/ which might be of interest.

Konrad my friend my only concern is with the "break" time. This is such a good idea as any player can engage in it no matter how long they have been playing MWO. My concern is if we try to push this to quickly instead of waiting for the matchmaking to become more (For lack of a better word) stable we may take this gem of an idea and loose interest due to "breaks" in the tourney such as the "Run hot or die" tourney is no doubt going to suffer from.

Though I am behind whatever you choose to do with it, just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. I really hope PGi takes a particular interest in your idea as it will attract new (Competitve?) players to the game. Its a great "Welcome to MWO, join the trial mech tourney and win X (MC, C-Bill, XP)!"

As far as how often should we do a TbF? I think depending on how many participants we have in the first one and the time frame it takes to complete the tourney should give you, and the community, a much better idea of how often we should run an event like this. For now, once a month seems the safer route as it gives plenty of time for signups and matches to take place.
