THe other three are bad... v bad. imo... I hate missles..s0
anyways...
it would be nice if we could have a "Favorite" trial mech... Ya know, might actually encourage those to play the game... The game is a bit of a grind for a f2p pilot. It would do you well to throw this bone.
WHat I mean by this is I "Favorite" the atlas trial mech... THen when the next four drop, I can look at them and If I dont like one at all I can bring in the favorited atlas.
That way, I can always have the atlas as my favorite trial mech untill I decide to favorite some other trial mech..,,, Its always in the stable.
Btw , that would also provide variety to these tbf rounds into the future...
"Oh look theres, so and so in his trusty whatever the frak" It would illustrate competence in the various chasis' which would serve as inspiration to the flow of noobs you would hope to attract as the game grows.

No MC or C-Bills. If PGI is offering anything to the winner, it should be a skin, s/he could use until the next tournament is over.
How often:
I voted for once a month, but to keep it something special, once every three months would be more appropriate.
As soon, as we know more about the future of this project, I will decide if I enter the competition.
I agree once a quarter would be better. A different skin, or some other kind of fluff would be best.

- Phase 3 : Still much work to do about bugs and gameplay (Heat management, yellow blur, etc...) to start something 'serious' that involve a prize at the end...
- Other: I agree with those who think a bobblehead or a skin should be the prize...
- Once a Month: so it's not too much a regular event... And to gives enough time to do an original and worthy of bragging bobblehead/skin prize... ;-)

Dashboard items... How do you show off what almost nobody gets to see.
Front page space... Excellent idea. The whole idea should be bragging rights.
Skin.. Be still my heart. An obvious skin that all could see for every match until the next tourney.
C-bills, MC... I'm indifferent. Nice, but not a requirement for my interest.

Also perhaps you could give a 'luck' box or something as in an item with the chance to get one of a variety of prizes, one could be the bay mentioned above, perhaps another could be C-bills, maybe a really low chance at some MC, or even lower chance at a 'light mech' or unique 'TBF' prize mech. OR perhaps a few unique Mods as prizes... It seems the most hostility toward 'paying' players and non paying ones is the 'extra c-bills' Mod on the founders mechs, perhaps this is to remain a unique thing for them, cool if it is, but also a neat prize. Anyway those are my ideas on this topic. Thanx for your patients and interest!

I could be wrong, but I think this defeats, at least in part, the idea of the tournament itself...

The Mech should't be over powered but provide the winner with a distinct advantage on the battlefield. One that could not be added to any other Mech for any amount of MC or CBills.
As the winner will most likely be a solid pilot, the Mech shouldn't be easy to use. It must require considerable skill to use effectively. Its weapons loadout should also be locked, but provide enough balance so that any play style could find it useful.
If I make suggestions it will only work against the prize. This should come from the lore.

Blasphemer! This is a great idea an could bring a lot of new customers to MWO. This should be rewarded as such with MC or C-Bills or a mech chassis, IE the winner gets to pick from the current list of trial mechs and gets that chassis. Just saying. ;p

Fair enough - In that case, I say a custom TbF decal would be best.
Consider; Players will be able to submit their own custom decals to PGI for approval, and inclusion in the game, right?
So let the TbF organisers design one (or even open it up to entrants to submit one and take a poll to choose the winner after 1 week), and let that go through the already planned submission process, and this decal can be the prize.
Obviously, this would be a unique design, only available to the winner, and credited to his account in a similar way as the PC gamer/NVidia gear was.
Basically, something external, that one can "show off", to mark you as a TbF winner and then in one stroke, you've ticked all the exclusivity boxes that a unique skin does, while not using any extra man hours or processes than have already been committed to the development schedule.
Perhaps a Gold PGI skull with flames, and a Silver/Bronze one for runners-up?
The possibilities are almost endless, and it can all be done using a simple .PNG file and the pre-planned submission process, and would be far more "valuable" than some measly MCs or a mechbay, since as we all know, scarcity is value..

I'm not convinced about the 'mech prizes, because if it's something that can be acquired otherwise it seems more like a MC or cbill prize in a less flexible form. And if it can't be acquired otherwise, then balance might be tricky for a completely unique mech.
I'm all for MC prizes, and actually having some sort of trophy to put on your dash would be great too. I'd also be amenable to a special skin, though it seems that some are saying that they're tough to implement.

Plus if you make the mech expensive due to it's rarity the repair costs could be such that it would take some skill use it consistently. There may be alternative counterbalance ideas as well for those worried about such things. Although as a once a month prize or once a quarter I don't see this getting out of hand. If you were really concerned you could make it a hardcore variant that once destroyed was unusable or perhaps only unusable until you killed another TbF reward mech and took its salvage.

No rewards needed.
