I find Catapults ridiculously easy to kill - aside from the Unavoidable Lagshield of Light Mechs, I find it's actually harder to hit the CT than the head if they're actually looking at you.

As has been said, keep on moving, turning torso and general active for better survivability. Yes it's harder to shoot people but it's all part of the skill. Oh and practice shooting, practice shooting, practice shooting.

I brawl in a laser catapult just fine and headshots are quite rare when you pay attention to current situation and move accordingly. Stationary mech is a dead mech and every mech has a weakspot.

try getting a headshot on a stationary atlas. i've plugged both the eyes with dual gauss and still havent managed to find where the "head" is supposed to be on that thing (my understanding is its the right eye, but that registered torso hit).

The only other mech with as prominent a head is the commando (the whole head is the head), but its a bit difficult to hit one of them thats moving. Its pretty easy to get a headshot on a catapult even when its moving at full speed if it isnt twirling its torso about like crazy.

Left eye from the Atals POV, slightly higher than the light apparently.

Is that his left or my left? probably not practical anyway, better to focus on RT (esp for the trials) and take out ballistic/XL engine instead.

I only headshot Awesomes all the time.
And Cat is one of the strongest mechs in the game anyway.

I seriously think that the CAT headshots come from the fact that there is no risk in attempting to headshot. If you try to headshot a Cent or a Hunchback, you have to aim high and possibly miss from the top. This discourages trying and makes you aim somewhere else (right arm for Cent, RT for the Hunchback). This feels balanced, as a cat is one of the best mechs in the game at the moment (nice tonnage, many good configs).

Anyway, I always headshot people if they overhead before me, pretty much regardless of their mech. I do have to admit that the head of a Raven is the hardest to miss in that situation, though.

When the Cataphract is out, people will have more options for a heavy mech, namely a true brawler.
Also the Ravens head is the glass and roof, much bigger than the Cat, but faster too.

To go to basic game mechanics, every 'mech's head has the same internals...sensors, life support, a cockpit, and a couple slots for things such as heat sinks or whatever. Every 'mech SHOULD have the same size head hit box, to make the game fair. Base the size on the size of a light (recon) 'mech's head area and make it the same size for everyone, including Atlas pilots. Having the Atlas' head hitbox be the size of one eye is ludicrous as the cockpit is only one small part of a head's interior.

-Irish

So every Mech should be able to mount dual Gauss to make it fair? Wrong. All mechs have strengths and weakness. Battletech and MechWarrior are not "FAIR".

Im not try to be mean here.

But seriously, Cats are extremely hard to take down now for some reason...unless they sit still.

With a Cat moving its torso from left/right its very difficult to land a shot on the section of the torso your aiming for (let alone headshot).

Ive headshot 3 K2's in the last 5-6 hours of play. Every headshot, they were sitting still trying to aim a headshot at me.

This is with a Hunch 4p.
