The role in which you will set yourself in will be up to you. My experience with the FWL has always been of a casual professional. We usually don't make people pick roles and/or mechs, but that's not to say we don't mind losing though. We expect you to be good at what you do because it's your playstyle and it's how you enjoy the game. We do expect you to learn about mech tactics and to be civil to new people and willing to teach what you have learned without raging Posted Image.

If you have any questions at all please feel free to ask away and I'm sure one of us on here will be able to answer or at least point you in the right direction.

Welcome to the FWL!

That's exactly what I was hoping to read from an experienced FWL player.

Handle - 'Shakespeare' (Previously 'Pirate Pettit')

No previous Rank

No previous Unit

BT Experience - Just the games, really - MW2 (first exposure, no online), MW3 (no online), MW4 and MW4 Mercs (some online pub play), MP3.1 (no online) I've been reading up at sarna in preparation, though.

Timezone: GMT -5 (East Coast USA), from 17:00-23:59 weekdays; my SO will likely be making use of my weekends.

Interests: Piloting, Medium to Heavy. I suspect I'll be spending more time in the mechlab than on the field, depending on how it works!

As you can see, I'm quite green. But then, this is a new game, and I learn very quickly. My only worry is that my medical internship might require me to drop off the map for a fair amount of time after initial release, not for studying, but just because I won't have my rig with me!

The valiant never taste of death but once."

Experience: MA (and its sequel) for the Xbox, Dabbled in MW4 Mercs, MW clix game, limited CBT experience (did assemble several small lances, understands the basics)

Timezone: US Eastern Standard

My time might be somewhat limited in the near future...it's a long story. But I'll be around when I can.

Wow, lots of new recruits into the BT universe! That is so Awesome! Hope you guys feel at home here in the FWL and again, if you have any questions please ask away! We're getting close to open beta and it's best to get some of the more general questions out there and thought about before getting into the nuts n bolts of the game!

I have no experience I have no unit. I am new but what I lack in experience I make up in with my willingness to learn and my loyalty to my unit. I can be counted on.

Hello members of the Free Worlds League,

I'm wondering what non canon merc units you guys would be joining if any, with the recent news that canon units are locked out so to speak. I've been looking for Merc units working for the FWL to join, or grouping up with like minded people to create one. Any help would be appreciated.

I have no real mech warrior experience. I played the board game. Does house Marik have units already established or are we still working that out? If they have them already established is there a roster or a volunteer list for a unit? Is there a way to ID Mech type short comings for a unit or a need list?

@lattimer As of yet we have no established units that have been formed. We're still not sure how they're going to implement that into the game so we're kind of in a holding pattern til beta. As of now, it seems we might have quite a few looking into being scouts to start, but don't feel like you need to be pigeon-holed into a play style that doesn't suit you. Pick whatever it is that is most comfortable for the way you play, there will always be room!

Well, it's good to see so many FWLers around! Makes a guy feel all sorts of loved and whatnot. ;-)

Callsign: Igorius

Previous Callsigns: Different from game to game. Used to majorly frequent the official BT forum (under yet another callsign), but haven't in a year or so due to RL kicking me in the butt.

Previous Experience: I've played the board game for years, MegaMek and the MechCommander series, and all the MechWarrior games. I did a bit of mp with MW4, as a member of Clan Snow Raven. Did a lot of mp with MW2, and actually cofounded a (very) short-lived Clan. Good times!

Unit(s): I usually end up playing as either the 1st Orloff Grenadiers, the Head Hunters mercenaries, or Romanov's Crusaders mercenaries when I "wear the purple." I'm not saying "OMG, must play Orloff" or anything like that. If we decide to organize like that, I'm down for whatever.

Timezone: Mountain.

Play Style: I used to be big into Heavy and occasionally lower-end Assaults, but now I've got a yen to try out a Light, or even a low-end Medium. With the promise that they can go toe to toe with the bigger guys now (if, of course, I don't whizz away any advantage), it's sounded like a fun change of pace.

So anyway, there it is. Looking forward to watching our flag spread all across the Inner Sphere!

Not really since he is one of the Known original members of the Marik Command staff from MW years ago and has earned it.

This is Not the first "Rodeo" for a lot of us and we have all been keeping in touch one way or another. All original 5 Houses have their Past and Present House Leaders that their community knows and even their oposing House knows. MWLL units are new units put together for MWLL not from the Original Organized MW days of combat and Planet capture.

Laughable. We had this same exact thread in the Davion forums. Long story short, save yourself some time. You havent earned anything in this community or this game. You would be wise to go read the CoC thread in the Davion forums and understand this. If you dont incorporate all the communities, both old and new, you will splinter your own faction. Learn and adapt. Keep your holier than thou attitude, and end up like the guys who tried it in House Davion. Likewise, since you cant run the house, isnt the conversation dead to begin with?

Leave it to a FedRat to make a post like this, quoting something from November, and then insinuating we are the dumb ones that can't realize when a conversation is dead...

Name: Zakatak

Rank: No last rank

Unit: No last unit

Experience: MW3 (campaign only), MW4 Mercs (campaign, mekpaks, some MP), MWLL (short time), various non-MW simulations

Time Zone: GMT -7:00 (Mountain Time), generally available from 7:00 to 10:00.

Interests: This is a tough one, and I really like to mix it up. I won't be using Assaults however, and I won't be doing Command roles, if that narrows it down. I am very much multi-role, but I generally like close-to-medium range fighting in fast mechs ranging from 45 to 70 tons. I will also be doing fire support or recon if the team needs it. Expect me to be using Bushwacker all the time when 3053 comes around.

I'll admit to not being as in tune with Battletech as most of ther other members on this website, and I have very little experience with Mechwarrior in terms of multiplayer (I started with MW3 when I was 5 actually). However, I plan on putting a purple eagle sticker on my uncles F/A-18C helmet, with "3rd Legionnaires" on the side. This will, obviously, make me play better.

MPBT history: Got into the TT in 1992. While I mostly only played with my dad (who introduced me) a few times, I spent the majority of my time studying every source book I could get. The TROs, the scenario packs, my copy of The Compendium is falling apart from use (not the softcover, the hard cover. ). I read all of them dozens of times over. Read a few of the novels too, but not many. Played MW1 and 2 (plus all the x-pacs) as well as Mechcommander 1 and 2. Never played online though. Also played the CCG quite a bit (proud to say I completed all the sets). Kinda phases out of BT before the whole Jihad thing though, however since the announcement of MWO I have been catching up. :D
Throughout all this, and since he beginning, the FWL has always been my favorite faction. Looking forward to a game were I can finally play on my favorite side.

TimeZone: EST

Available: All evenings plus some days depending on work
Interests: Piloting (not really sure which role yet), but I'm willing to help as needed.

Wheres Paul at when you need him so much good stuff to troll here. Since Paul hasnt been keeping up his trolling part of the Forums, we have all enjoyed in teh past I wonder if we can apply for that part of his job. This will allow him to concentrate on the more important stuff like getting the game into open beta sooner. Where do we apply?

be aware all applicants must purchase and read the trollers bible "Trolling with Finess" by Paul Inouye.

Oh to subject I applaud you guys getting the word out to all the people in the past connected to your specific house. I think thats a good thing. Put out the call so your house has some good number of pilots for the coming game I wouldnt exclude anyone strength in numbers and all that. From what I have read so far though and such seems that Devs will running the houses, and will make most of it an automatic system. You fight and grind away at battles you get so much experiance, so many loyalty point when you have so many you get rank on up you go. If you play enough and have certain criteria as in rank winning % whatever the game will allow you to transfer to an elite fighting group perhaps. This seems a fair way to do things everyones equal at day one. Doesnt matter how many years you have played mech games, or who your buddies are, everyone has to prove themselves.
. . . .The main drawback of this system is little Jopo who is out of school adn able to devote10 plus hours a day playing the game, because mommy thinks its great that the game is baby sitting her boy so she doesnt have to, will prob end up to be a high level ranked player yelling at you older folks on how you lost the match because you didnt follow his orders over team speak. It will be intersting to see how this all fleshes out.
