I did the same thing before knockdowns were removed in my jenner. Some of us, actually are good at what we do... Even now, in my jenner, I still avoid knockdowns as if they were still there. As for laggy, my ping is very low.

Agreed on all points, an unsupported heavy or assault is generally meat for a competent light pilot in a one on one fight.

What we may see is a river of delicious tears from the QQing of all those who THOUGHT they were competent light pilots when collisions are put back in.

Yes, this is pure coincidence due to the fact that
1.) Smal mechs are still bound to lag.
2.) falling over is not activated at the moment.

Tis a matter of days/weeks till both come back...and THEN....then the QQ will really start when they understand that 35 tons CAN NOT compare to 50 or 65 or even 100 tons.

but, as allways a ton of Jennerpilots will jump in and tell me to <insert word> :P

Even with collisions, 35 ton mechs were very comparable to heavier mechs.

The NUMBER of actual pilots who can make them comparable, however, will decrease.

Depends on my mood. Sometimes I feel like being Braveheart full well knowing I'm probably going to get wasted. Other times I'm like, "You know what, I've been bested. I'm in C5/whatever powering down... cap my base or be a D. .i. .C. .K and come tear me limb from limb."

If I voluntarily power down, they honor that about 50% of the time... which can be very frustrating. I then at least tell them just to aim for my head *shrugs.

No disrespect to the fight to the end types; I salute your spirit. I myself, just gain no fun from being the last target standing in a 7-0 curbstomping, and I think I've exhausted all possible learning from that particular experience :P I don't hope for the impossible wins anymore. It's not worth the 1 in a 100 hope, nor the repair costs. Now, close fights are still worth participating--even if you are simpy a distraction. I've circled many a weaponless 'mech as a distraction, or sent an ammo-less missile boat to draw off foes by a capture distraction.

I think it would be good to standardize a mercenary code of conduct. A quick term offerred in chat so a surrender can happen. Individual mechs have to offer to give, and by doing so they vow to move away from their base, shut down, and remain shut down. Powering up again makes them a fair target, and refusing to move out of their base or powerdown immediately after announcing they yield makes them a valid target.

I suggest typing "Yield" thats short, but to the point.

'Mechs that yield won't be targeted. They wont move. They wont start up. Violating that makes them a chump, and a fair target and not eligible for mercy even if they power down again.

Now, the risk is in yielding to a puggie who doesnt know this code, or is the type to shoot on a helpless foe..but then, if you are in a position where you have to yield, things aren't so great and you can't really make many demands.

I wish there were keybind chat binds, Could make one for premades stating "We accept surrender; type "yield" and power down outside of your base if you decide to give and we will not attack you." and broadcast it at the start of a fight.

which of the following sentences sound more likely to be told:

1. "MechFool was such a hero, everytime he was outnumbered he striked his weapons and ran away..."
2."MechCool was such a hero, he fought till the bitter end and gave hell to the overwhelming enemy...before he passed, he defeated 2 more of them ...his name shall be written on 1000´s of memorial plaques..."

If the community warfare kicks in, it will suddenly make sense to retreat from a loosing battle.

Score is 4 to 6, I've got no rear armor left and the remaining enemies are a mix of moderately damaged lights and assaults...

Throttle to full: Here. We. Go.

Win or lose, I make it a mark of pride to always push my mech to being 1-shot away from death and still survive a battle. Anyone can just get themselves killed in a firefight, but to participate and survive is one of the hardest challenges in this game - especially if your team loses. And when I say participate, I guarantee you'll see my jenner in the top 30% of the scores almost every game :)

As general George S. Patton once said: "No ******* ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb ******* die for his country". Everyone here strives for the latter, but it takes a lot more to also live up to the former.

Being a hero is for suckers. I'm out for the C-Bills. :) Get paid, don't get medals.

I'm probably too fixated on getting killshots, but whenever it seems like I'm going down, I try to grab at least one quick kill before that happens...
So, no, I don't usually let up, relent or desist.

I'm with Commander Taggert from Galaxy Quest, "Never give up! Never Surrender!"

I have faced down 3 opponents at the end of a match and won (No not a Jenner, I was in an Atlas). Denying yourself the possibility of an heroic win to save a few C-Bills seems silly.

I would rather have that memory, than an additional 200,000 K C-Bills any day.

Being one of the few Jenner Pilots that get's 1000 XP around and 400-500 damage. I have nearly pulled a 6 on 1 (There last mech got a lucky shot). Usually i get around 3-4 kills a round.

If there team is all badly damaged and showing signs of stupidy, i will try to win. But if i somehow get outnumbered 7 to 1 and there fresh, good luck finding me.
Also depends if there scouts that are left or not. I can't kill scouts nearly as well as heavy's. So if there's no scouts, i might try to win or atleast put up a fight before they cap.

What matches do you remember? the easy win over a team of PUGs playing their first match? or the battle you make it through by the skin of your teeth?

[note the answer to this tells a lot about your personality] i am going to assume most people talk about the hard fought matches.

if you fold when it looks like it is going to be hard you get none of these stories. There are times when it is truely hopeless and its fun to see if the other team plays honorable. but if there is a change i play it out.

My match from last night - i am last man standing (jenner out of SRM ammo only 2 med lasers) vs 2x Atlas, heavily damaged Dragon all 3 are together heading to my cap on Forrest colony. Finish off the Dragon quckly since he already had orange CT. then circle of death the 2 atlases who were set up on cap (water side with the dish). Running high/low circles around them for 3 mins and won the fight. was a tense 3 minutes of play!

You know what would solve this problem? More CBills rewarded for destroying all 8 enemy mechs than if you cap. It makes sense, doesn't it? If you killed all of the enemies, the base is now yours, no?

99% of the time in my groups someone yells out "leg that last guy and cap!" Wtf? Really? Lets spend another two minutes in this game that's already over. >_<

"Never count your money, while you're sitting at the table. There'll be time enough for counting, when the dealings done."

Yeah, you don't quit just cause it gets a bit hairy. I had 3 DC's right off the bat. Full 8 on the other side. They offered surrender. We took them down 8 to 0. PUG LIFE!

What would be better is a larger benefit provided for actually accomplishing the mission (base capture) without risking significant damage to your own equipment.

But then I am a fan of expensive repairs to deter stupidity in piloting, a strong focus on the actual mission and not mindlessly blowing up mechs, the removal of the 'participation' reward and having payouts directly related to actually playing the game, and the elimination of the K/D replacing it with actually team based stats to psychologically reinforce the fact that this is a team game.

All of the above would encourage smarter play and actually create a situation where surrender is actually a reasonable proposition for both the surrenderer and the winning team.

I'd rather yield than fight a hopeless fight.

I see Jenners like the fight on option..but then targeting is broken, LRMs are underpowered right now, and collisions are off. I have a feeling once the game is no longer delivered to speedy light mechs on a silver platter, this spirit may change....
