On the contrary, there needs to be some kind of Last Starfighter "Death Blossom" move available if you're the last surviving member of your side.

It would most likely involve your mech getting surrounded by the enemy, and then the secret move becomes available. Your cockpit hatch opens up, you can crawl out and pull your pants down and moon them!

C-bills mean nothing to me, as I just keep getting them anyway. However, if the enemy has us creamed and offers terms of surrender, if the situation is IMPOSSIBLE, I'll accept to keep from causing them unnecessary repairs. This is only until we actually have some sort of campaign game going. In the average TDM, if it's just me and 3 of them, Nothing really to be gained. Just get the match over with and go to the next one.

Thats all good and stuff, running away, living to fight another day...

Until the "ghost" of your teamate(s) whisper into the ears of the enemy where you are...

Never understood why they do that, and why Devs allow them to.

I usually try to find someone injured and take them out before I go down. Nothing noble about it. It's kinda challenging to see if you can take someone out when you're 1v8. :)

easy answered...because there is a slight difference between "I gave my best but I'm done with my mech" and "I want to spare rep costs and retreat battle in an almost brandnew mech".

When a match is all but won, I always broadcast over chat that if they power down and let us cap they can live... they NEVER have.

Then probably come on MWO Forums to write a perectly articulated post about how they lose c-bills and the game is unplayable without premium.

I've actually had people surrender when the chance was offered. They seemed to appreciate it. Most do not, but a few do.

I've won matches as the lone damaged Jenner against 4 living enemies before. It's rare but it happens (mostly relies on incompetence of opponents though).

On a more serious note why not give the option to EJECT? I'm sure it was available in at least some of the previous games and at the very least was in one of the intro sequences (the Atlas pilot who ejects after getting caught up in the madcat blast, MW3 I think?)

Of course this means there'd have to be some mechanisms in place to prevent abuse i.e. people don't just eject as soon as they join the match or soemthing...

If the game were more than it's current game mode (IE if we had the meta universe in place) and dying actually meant something (like say for instance, mech force depletion on a planet) then yes, I'll gladly go run and hide when I'm outnumbered and outweighed by hundreds of tons. That makes perfect sense and is for the greater good. (gaming-wise)

But for me, since the game is what it is right now... I choose to fight until the end no matter what I'm piloting.

Sure, there are the occasiona lagainst all odds victories, but hoenstly, for every one of those, there are 20 curbstompings. When its down to my criticaly damaged genner versus 5 or 6 healthy enemy mechs, I'm outta there. I'll surrender, and offer it too. I'll always honor a request for terms as well. There's a difference from giving up a hopeless battle, and not playing. I am fully ok with reporting the location of a AFK'r who never moved, or never participated in the battle. But if I'm a spectator, and I see a lone, beaten up teammate running and hiding after obviously fought and done what they could, I'd never say a word about it or reveal their location.

Victory or Death!

I had a game on sunday, I was piloting a jenner as usual and ended up being the last one left against 4 of their team. I had little armor left, and none left on my center torsos or legs. They had an afk jenner, a trial atlas with a side torso chunk in the red, a raven with half his armor, and a streakapult that was barely damaged. Everyone was near the enemy base.

I ended up making laps around the hill, taking shots on anything I could. A couple passes and I ended up grazing the shoulder of the atlas, taking out his XL engine. I then stopped on their base, which enticed the raven to come engage me. I had a signifigant speed advantage over him, and used it to circle around him and take him out when he got stuck in his own base. The streak cat seemed content to hang around the buildings in the water near the base, which seemed ideal for the fight, so I went over there. I ended up getting most of his armor off, dodging behind buildings as he got a lock most of the time, before he finally took me down with a few streaks.

So yeah, I could just called it, but because I didn't, I got two extra kills and came much closer than I had thought possible to actually winning the game. This isn't the first time something like this happened, and I think people are cheating themselves of some truly crowning moments of awesome by just giving up.

Lately, if things have gone horribly against my team (that's about... 60% of the time according to my stats), and if I'm in a position to feasibly get away while the enemy team caps, then I will effectively surrender. To quote the dropship pilot from the intro of MW2 Mercs, I'm not getting paid enough to die.

Find some abandoned corner of the map and power down in case they dispatch scouts looking for me, which I've had teams do.

Cowardly? Maybe. I call it thrifty. Suicidal bravery is expensive.

Usually, however, I end up cornered by an Atlas (it's always a friggin' Atlas) or get pounced on by a recon lance before I get the chance to break off. Usually this happens when my team has all noob-rushed up the middle of the field and left me alone on defense, and a single Centurion does not a secure base make. In those cases I'm going down anyway, so I might as well go down swinging.

EDIT: Anybody notice that all the "zomg i took on four of them an WON!" stories are coming from Jenner drivers? Coincidence, or...

People, lest we forget, this is a BETA. This is an incomplete game. You are playing a simplified version of battle. When it goes live, and all planned variants of battle become possible, you will not have a choice in running away.

And for the record, there are those that value the XP over the $$$ in game. And the fun of playing as a MECHWARRIOR, not pea brained video gamers that just min/max there way through the game, not caring about the rest that do. I'm tired of the lazy good for nothing suiciders that enter a game, and run out bounds as fast as possible to make money cheaply, abandoning their team in the process. I'm tired of the wusses that think, "This is dangerous, let's not aid our atlas against those 2 assualts, let's gank the jenner".

I don't fault a player that runs and shuts down as the last on his team, with 5+ mechs on the enemy side, but I've seen great plays where that 1 player won the game, and earned that large bonus to XPs, and C bills everyone EARNED that fought together.

If you have a problem with playing on a team of fighters that fight on, then just quit out when you die, problem solved.

Riiight, because betraying your teamate is valid when hes incompentent? or cowardly?

When people die in games like these, they should have no influence on the battle there-after...

My story was I took on three of them and lost, which was more fun than giving up.

Yes, this is pure coincidence due to the fact that
1.) Smal mechs are still bound to lag.
2.) falling over is not activated at the moment.

Tis a matter of days/weeks till both come back...and THEN....then the QQ will really start when they understand that 35 tons CAN NOT compare to 50 or 65 or even 100 tons.

but, as allways a ton of Jennerpilots will jump in and tell me to <insert word> :)

Unless you are completely out of weapons and they are guarding their cap you should always strive for victory! It may be unlikely that you will win but every time you try you will get a little closer!
