can someone make a moronically simple vid showing how mech controls work so we can show it to all the people who "supposedly" cant figure out how it works...
You know, like a venture brothers type old school sci project movie
by the way ,, I call BS pure n simple on garth saying people couldnt figure it out.

If they truly believe that THIS is the problem with the game well then folks, our dearly beloved franchise is being slowly killed by this team of doctors<devs>
Might as well inquire as what the hospice practices are like at pgi.
"oh, mwo is very comfortable, oh yes, still chugging along... oh yes,, she looks.... strong.. " beep beep beeeep.

No third person view, please. I understand the concern about making an F2P game easily accessible for the majority of gamers, but the interior view has been a staple of the series since release and is an integral part of what makes battletech feel like battletech.

No just No Mech Warrior is 1ST Person Only Please Keep it that way.. If new players are having a hard time finding where the feet are.. we all got used to it VERY quickly..

If you need to Make a NPC battle area where New players can get used to the mech AKA Mech School you could even make a short story from it you get them into the universe

If new players are in fact having trouble adjusting to the simple concept of legs v torso, do something about the new player tutorial experience. Don't make the rest of the community suffer for it.

No, polling people on something they're not likely to participate in is useless, all it does is add 'noise' to your data.

That's why when the professional polsters out there poll our opinions on presidential races and such, they try and limit to "those most likely to vote".

These polls are being responded to by "those most likely to play", and the poll's results tell us that adding 3rd person view is an extremely bad idea.

ALL THAT IS REQUIRED TO MAKE THE GAME ACCESSIBLE IS A FRACKING TUTORIAL THAT ISN'T A YOUTUBE VIDEO.

Definitely do not want 3rd person in MWO, i'd rather not revisit the days of the only viable tactic being pop tarting ala MW4.

Did he REALLY say that?

Wow...

I mean, I figured it out. I'm unaware of any tutorial or instructions anywhere that indicate what's going on. Once I realized my torso could twist, and that there was a key, C, to center the torso to the legs, I started looking for the indicators that would tell me where my torso was facing in relation to my legs, FOUND THEM in the hud, and then practiced.

Yes, you have to THINK about what you're doing. You have to keep a cool head and not panic...

I think there might be a bug where if you try and turn while your torso is twisted more than say 45 degrees from your feet, turning is suddenly extremely slow (not torso twisting, turning your entire 'mech).

BUT, I figured it out. On my own...

I don't think you want players incapable of figuring it out. Those will be the players too stupid to enter in their credit card numbers correctly to purchase MC and you'll never get a dime out of 'em...

This... is adding noise to the data. Stop arguing about the poll and make clear, constructive additions to the main topic and we got progress. Bickering about the poll is pointless.

No, it's just ancilliary data. It can add to your +/- factor as it can help you understand how many people may or may not have understood the poll...

Let's try it. People like to hate on things based on prejudice, but they usually stop the dramacrying when something has been introduced and turns out to be cool. If it turns out to be a bad feature, then put 3rd person in the trash bin.

We tried it in multiple previous Mechwarrior games. This huge backlash isn't just knee-jerk, it's based on what happened with 3rd person in all the other games. PvP play became nothing but a battlefield of poptarts, and you played 3rd person or lost, period.

So now that it's been tried and proven to annihilate PvP play, let's put it back in the trash bin where it belongs.

Ah Do you think this you sometimes for God? or he speaks to you, that is the truth only 3VP feel ... and you must now convert all unbelievers that you are the light and the glory, and the disciples will praise you and follow you if you have then established 3VP?

I find your religious euphemisms for this discussion to be fairly offensive.

They can easily separate the servers 1sr person/ 3rd person views just like they are changing the premade format to premade vs premade, no longer mixed in with PUG's...

The Devs are moving in the right directions, hiccups are expected and will be addressed

the more people that play the game, the better, translate into more revenue for more mechs, more game modes, more maps, etc... etc... etc...

More More More, we want more

all in good time

Well looking at the current state of the data a lot of people dont like the 3rd option. Me included, this isnt mech assualt.

This is what I invested in
Not some first person shooter for individuals
You've already screwed up team work when you nerfed groups to cater to individuals
Dont make this mistake with 3rd person

Unless I missed a post somewhere in the 70 odd pages of please dont do its I agree with every post. This is a bad idea.

I saw a few posts that made very good suggestions

A single player training mode allowing you to get used to mech behavior and learn how to read the HUD indicators of where your torso and arms are facing without having to worry about other mechs tearing you apart.

and

Adding the 3d mech display from MW3 for those who dont want to take the time to learn to read there HUDs.

Once again I cast my vote no for third person modes.

They don't need 3rd Person. All they need to do is press the "C" key. Everybody has pressed the "C" key at least once right? No? Back to mech school for you then.

3rd person results in the, "Pop-tart MechWarrior Culture", and that is not just a style of play, it's a slippery slope that will slowly draw first person gameplay away from MWO, even though, as you see 92% of MWO players say no way, they will ultimately bow to free-style pressure to play games that allow it. Been there, done that in MW4. 3rd person option is a Pandora's Box. You have been warned.

The real problem with new players is that you don't have good feedback mechanisms, no tutorialization, missing tooltips in the mechlab; if your not already familure with mechwarrior you have no clue whats going on. That plus the worst free to play new player experience I have ever seen is the main reason you're having trouble getting new players. (Move your pay wall)

Nail on the head, finger to the nose!

People are not leaving because of torso twisting. It's the grind of being a free player, no tutorial, lack of feedback, the perception of pay to win, no in game immersion that comes with having guilds or IS Houses, no in game rank or gear based on how you progress through house missions, etc. The only interaction currently in MWO is dropping in a match with 7 strangers and getting ***** by 8 more strangers due to lack of custom mechs and team coordination. This isn't good or fun for either side.
