In the course of the past 3 days they've had over 3000 say no, over 150 pages (combined) of people saying no, and several threads closed and told to use the right thread to say no...
The community has spoken, I just really hope they listen (I will buy cookies if they do)

"Hey, we looked into it, and we realized it was a dumb idea, sorry for going back on our promise and causing all this fuss. We are now back focused on what we should have been doing, and that is putting in new mechs, maps and game modes, while balancing weapons and fixing bugs, in particular the netcode issue. Happy gaming everybody!"
C'mon Garth, Russ and Paul....get back on track where you belong. Look after us and stay true to the franchise first and foremost and the rest will look after itself.

1) No zooming.
2) Unable to rotate camera or freelook. You only see ahead of you in the direction your torso is pointed.
3) You can only see mechs that the 1st person view perspective would give you LOS on. So you could see around a corner, but until you walk up to and around it, POOF a mech could appear that you coudln't see (INCLUDING mechs that stand in your blind spot)
4) No crosshairs on display while in 3rd person view making it very difficult to aim. I think you should still be able to pull the trigger, but no crosshairs would make it nearly imipossible to do any type of accurate fighting.
It would be fine and actually be penalized for being in 3rd person view during a fight.
PS. Been playing the game since Day 1 Open Beta dispite my posting history...don't make me pull out the proof bat and hit you with it.

3RD person view is not needed granted this was featured in the current games predecessor Mw4 mercs however this game has
more emphasis on PvP. Every game has some sort of learning curve some steeper than others, however simply just making the
game grandma friendly is of no credit to the user or the developer. PGI look at the poll make the right decision, make the smart decision.
In mercs we had the option of not joining or joining a 3rd person server they were called Dedicated servers yes indeed so if
PGI put it in I'm outta here ..what a pile of tripe instead
of bringing this crap out TRY fixing the game

You appear to be confused: open beta didn't start today. Please, bring that random mechlab screenshot proof that you have...

The first time I tried to drive a stick shift I almost smashed in the garage. But wouldn't you know it the more I used it the better I got.
I wish Ford would have put a camera behind my truck on a pole so I could watch myself drive on the outside it would have saved me a lot of time...
You probably shouldn't be driving if you need that much help to have a feel for where you are with your truck.

Proved me, wrong... I'll leave my posts up, since I'm not trying to cover anything up. And you have my apology, sorry we put you through the trouble of having to bust out the cam, thanks to the way forum page is. I still disagree with you on the whole 3PV thing, but I take back what I said about you not having a right for an opinion and calling you a liar, since you just started playing today. If I could I would post the same thing in the original thread.

Just gotta take the P.T. Barnum approach. "10 cents to see the Egress" and you're making money.

Actually this has potential. What if instead of the 2D flat armor/internal structure panel on the lower left of your HUD, you isntead had a semi-translucent model of your mech that would twist, walk and run based on what you were actually doing with the mech. Then you could see how yoru torso is twisted relative to your legs, and you could also use it to show damage (missing limbs) and even armor values based on the color of the limb/torso. That woudl lokk pretty wicked, actually, and silence all the naysayers here, and proably only add a little bit of 3d rendering overhead to make it work.

Yeah, several people have floated that idea and I love it. It would be a lot less overhead than having an additional enemy 'mech onscreen, since it wouldn't be a big deal to render it with one of the lowest LoD meshes.
