You're way out of line.

Can't we all play nice? :D

Not everyone's gonna agree, but let's disagree in a civil manner please...

I'm one of those greens that hate to use the hammer... if we can all get along instead...

Thanks!

Absolutely yes. I think it´s a good idea to make IS Mechs different ("industrial" or "military" looking) from the Clan ones more than is usual in other Battletech products. It speaks about the differences in technological level (Clans have the skill to make their Mechs look more how they want to, IS designs are dependent on technology that is used in them) and philosophy (Clan Mechs are representing their pilots´ code - Zellbringen, IS ones are little bit more only warhorses).

About the nose: it´s a fact that most of the Raven variants are stuffed with electronics, including Beagle Active Probe (BAP) - it´s the logical reason for the nose to look like that. It reminds me little bit of the american RAH-66 Comanche helicopter, that has a long-range sensor in it´s nose too.

heheh but i think raven should look like raven not Comanche helicopter :D

What if it could fly like a helicopter and did not need jets? Then it can look like one as much as it wants. :D

Let me rephrase my argument in a more positive manner. I think that the improvements are great. I think it looks more realistic than the original Raven, the changes are relatively minor, and the mech is immediately recognizable as a Raven.

I think the arguments against the changes are not convincing, everyone is of course free to have their own opinions regarding artwork, however I think that the design is more mature and advanced than all previous releases of this mech, it takes ideas from modern military designs and combines them in an elegant unit.

I beg to differ. The Raven should look like a war machine, not an animal.

I do like it but like many people here I saw a small dog's nose not a raven's. Decidedly less threatening, and totally kills my dreams of running up to enemies and woodpeckering the f@$% out of them.

EDIT: above sentence is joke. Since we seem to be having trouble taking them these days I decided to clarify.

Nah, it lookes more like anteater, or better yet, the dog I do not know the name of. Black, agressive, mid height, very fast, musculous, but slim you get the picture by now. :D

I think it looks more like a puma.

Looks like a dog's head on chicken legs and the choice of Davion colors was extremely poor.

Don't care if the Davion Sunburst was meant as a joke or simply pure ignorance...bad call.

Give it a proper "beak" and it's good.

Well i'm not really sure what your complaint here is about? you do realize that many of the Raven's were capture by the FedSuns during the 4th Succession War, and that because of this the FedSuns were able to get the mech into actual production faster than the Capellans so having FedCom colors makes perfect sense to me. Don't bash unless you know what your talking about please.

It's not so much the foxnose that makes me vote "no", its more that this Raven looks way to thin. Sure, it might look more stealty and militaristic now, but the Raven I like looks much more musculine (for a bird :D ).

Trying to enforce one's own perspective over others in the forums is inane and foolish. Arguing artistic taste... Hmm, the absolute futility of that act surpasses even the futility of doing nothing.

As passionate we are about the design, pro or con, we are not entitled to any extension of our will over PGI's and FD's decision and direction. Your stance, so over-loudly voiced may sway future perspectives, but probably counter to the direction you might want so be cautious. As an artist, I will tell you I enjoy praise, and ignore criticism, I'd be willing to bet FD would do the same.

While I love the look currently and the originally I say change it or don't I don't care, the Raven is in.

I don't like the 'Mech, but the new design is very good. Rather than a weird bird's head on legs it looks more like a machine designed for war. FD's take on the 'Mechs so far has been excellent, especially the cockpits look more cramped, something this new design of the Raven is distinctively different from the old designs.

Yes, the new raven is like the old raven in design structure. The newest thing about the raven is the new nose that looks like a nose from a high altitude recon jet or scout drone. It's like a camera hub to take pictures of the area. I like the new nose because it emphases the kind of electronic equipment that the raven is equipped with for it's advanced scouting role. What I don't like about the nose is that the nose camera on the jets were typically used at High altitudes and the fact the Raven doesn't actually fly to those high altitudes to use it in that situation. Realistically the camera of a ground unit scout would be placed on top of it, instead of directly in front of it because of the same advantage a para-scope on top of a Submarine gets.

This art design of the raven goes very well with the art style of mechs in mechwarrior because the art style is like walking planes without wings on some of the mechs. btw this art style helps people understand that the player will be piloting from the cockpit because simulators were mostly about airplanes and jets back then. (Kind of a general appeal type of thing)

When a moderator or admin shuts this thread down for people getting out of hand, they probably will say "NEVERMORE"

When i saw it i knew it was the raven. It keeps enough of its silhouettefor us to know it is the raven. I like what fd did to the mech. Like i said in another post it looks leaner and meaner then the original. To fd- Another beautiful mech design. Keep them coming.

Davions do not need a factory for the Raven as their good friends in the St. Ives Compact are shipping them over for trade of high end tech and parts. Like the double heat sink engine for the Black Jack 3

As long as we keep it civil, it's good. Someone would bother me if otherwise, and I do like my peace. :D

I like it, but the nose is out of shape. My complete opinion is under the official article about the raven on the last page.
