The only possibility i can imagine where I could tolerate a 3rd person view would be in separate, unranked "training" matches that are there solely for training purposes and give no rewards (except maybe c-bills), for the same reasons Lightfoot mentioned above.

Even implementing it as an option for spectating players would be an unfair advantage. Maybe not during a pug match, but organized teams with voice communication would surely use their dead scout pilots in such a way.

it demonstrates that, the majority of the fan base are against the implementation of a camera angle that alters the game on the most basic of levels and fundamentally alters the game in such away that it eliminates immersion. I have a feeling you are not aware of how badly this will alter the game. Let me just point you at mektek and its free down load of MW4 Mercenaries, and turn you loose on its multiplayer so you can experience the jump sniping.

the reasonable compromise is NOT this. It is placing in a PROPER FORCED TUTORIAL. Teach players that torso facing and leg facing are NOT linked.

WRONG. unbalances it, and gives jump sniping and the ability to see around and over obstacles w/out risking your mech. sorry. no.

then, allow pictures with in the mech lab. If you are so invested in picturing your mech, then, please, die quickly in the fight as you serve no help to YOUR team.

including 3rd PPOV will drive away an already angered and worn out player base. also, Paul said no. he is our lead designer.

So how's that winning arguments through verbosity and restatement going for you? I suppose it's a successful strategy for making your opponents throw their hands up and walk away. Don't think it actually makes your arguments and points more convincing however.

Certainly, you're not really saying much beyond: "If you don't like it the way it is, then get out of here."

There are so many other things that can make this game successfull. The potential is not only in the raw fights but in the meta game hopefully to come (RvR, CvIS, trials, ...). This is where the developers have to focus on, not 3rd person view to satisfy some people who only pop in shortly and move on anyways without more content.

1st person view is the core element the creates the atmosphere in the fights, anything else is just another shooter.

I don't know any game where 3rd person view doesn't give you an advantage over 1st person view and as long as PGI doesn't come up with a revolutinary idea to implement it wihtout this flaw, my sig will remain as it is.

Say "NO!" to 3rd person view!

<snip> Didn't you listen to or read either the NGNG podcast or the text version of said statements containing WHY it wouldn't be an advantage. Or, are you just ignorant to the fact it's not an advantage if EVERYONE who wants 3rd person view, perhaps que's for 3rd person view SEPARATE of those que'ing for 1st.

Can you link to that?
I haven't read/listened to that, and I cannot imagine how 3rd person for some WOULDN'T be an advantage to those who use it.

(Also, I'm way too lazy, and currently at work, so scrolling around the forums looking for a link to what you mentioned isn't exactly an easy task right now)

Thanks.

No prob, that link also links the current podcast (at least for me). I think the one you want is " Mechs, Dev's & Beer #2"

Either you listened to Russ and you're still in the dark (can't help that) OR you need to play this video for yourself - http://www.youtube.c...34E5PK2I#t=358s - Enjoy.

I advise listening to Russ's comments in my previous post.

I'll admit, I laughed.....when I realized people paid 29.99 for a CD that contained "Cheers to you" on it!

Wow, you didn't listen in far enough! I believe if you listen from 16:00-25:00 you should hear it mentioned.

You are welcome
