Is this true? I thought the IP was owned in total now by Topps? Microsoft just owns the right to produce video games. Sorry if I'm wrong.

Edit: Added fact MS owns the right to produce video games.

TOPPS owns all the rights to the board game. Microsoft owns all the rights to the computer games.

So they are two separate IPs? Thanks.

I think Bootsock meant owning the IP, not patent.

Yep, apologies, and thanks for that. :-)

3rd person view is a very bad thing on a simulator game. I never play on this view on a simulators. IL2 , Su27 , LFS ... and if i force to use this vision on MWO .... i no play this game. this is not an armored core xbox game (funny game , but casual game) , MWO it's a SIMULATOR

Nice, 136 pages of feedback and pgi the devs still don't give a damn.
Sigh. Anyway, we'll see hows it be and how 3rd person will divide the community further into even smaller player groups.

PGI is banking on 3PV bringing in tons of players and money, that is why they have pushed it ahead of CW. They either have some really strong marketing dating showing that 3PV will bring the money, or they just believe in fairytales. Honestly, the third person console kiddies are not going to bring the money they think they will. We just have to wait and see.

Won't play anymore until there is view's choices, like in the CD game!
AND . . . You who want it too: stop playing until they do their duties!!!
Nough said!
Look at world of tanks as an example.
Go and have a look at many other sims games.
Bye

Did you read latest ATD? http://mwomercs.com/...vs-41-answered/ The first question says 3rd person will be a choice "out of the gates". So get ready for mixed queues once they can't fill both effectively. They will even use the same language from that first answer as to how people who were against it are now for it. Any polling to the contrary on the forums would only represent a tiny unimportant slice of audience.

Well I guess the community will have made a choice then won't they have,

You may also be a bit confused about what mixed will bring. Lets say you have 100 people in queue. 5% are FPV, 5% are 3pv only, and 90% are mixed. That means no one will have trouble getting a game. The only time one of the extreme ends will have trouble getting games is if the other extreme grows large and the middle is smaller than both ends.

Because the FPV people can always get matched against the either crowd.

There will not be three queues, just two. 1st person only and mixed. Those in 1PV will have a choice between the two queues or they can select "any" just like we currently do with game mode. Only the 3PV will be stuck in the mixed queue.

The take I had was while there are two queues, there are three selections. FPV, 3PV and any... while you only get put into FPV or 3PV(allowed) games, if you select any you will be matched into either queue. There again if the majority select any, then the FPV people have nothing to worry about. Even if there is only one 4 premade group in the FPV queue then games will pop for them if the majority of the players have selected any.

3PV is a dumbing down of the Mechwarrior experience. And there is no real argument against that. All to make a few bucks too. Sad to see. People who want 3rd person view should play Mechassault and game companies that want to make 3rd person Battletech games should license the Mechassault franchise instead of the Mechwarrior franchise.

So pick fpv only when it gets implemented. Not hard is it?

It will be very hard if they remove it entirely, merge the queues, or the 1PV queues are as dead as the FFP servers were in MW:4

I am primarily PUG-Star now, not doing competitive drops or 8v8, and I just don't want to get pushed into 3PV.

So far, they say I'm safe, and I'll take them at their word, but I will not cease being persistently stubborn in regards to keeping the queues separate. They have "altered the deal" before and I fear they will do it again.

We shall see.

I'm still 100% against 3rd person view. I will almost certainly quit when it is implemented.

I feel like a 3rd person option will SEVERELY segregate the community if you add two different matchmaking options, one for forced first-person and another with third-person allowed. I just feel like allowing the game to devolve from the immersive first-person simulator that it is into just another generic third-person shooter where players are able to peek around corners and over buildings and corner camp like any other third-person shooter. Even if a third-person mode is added to PvE type of matches players who become too used to that will start begging and complaining for third-person to be added into the main game. All-in-all it was a bad idea from the start that should have never been brought up to the community. It will make a lot of people upset (a lot of your fans and, even further, a lot of your potential and existing investors) and this will inevitably spell a moderate to steep decline in player satisfaction.

When PGI gives us a video showing exactly how 3PV will work in MWO, then we will either see that it is not so bad and stay, or many of us will just quit.

3pv will change exactly nothing. This game became laughstock for others - not a single good word on forums. People, who still clinging to words like "simulator" "promises" etc. are naive. Take a good long look at development - you are not needed. Your voice is ignored. Basically they told you this already "you will use 3pv and you will like it".

It was inevitable honestly - it is too hard to please those who wanted this to be "true stompy mech sim". and spending much without gaining more is bad for business. They tried to fix things, hired new programmers etc but in the end it came to simple thing - it is more economically efficient to broad gamers auditory, than trying to return those who have left. To hack and simplify things instead of redoing or at least fixing. So suck it up losers and embrace truly "next gen mechwarrior" =;)=

1PV players will not have to play 3PV players "out of the gate".....

IGP/PGI wants to wait until they have squeezed more money out of you FIRST.
