I wouldn't call it foolish. Especially not when past history in MW4 showed a huge amount of players enjoyed 3PV.

they didn't use it because they enjoyed it, they used it because you could cheat with it.
Do anyone else even remember how 3pv was used in MW4.

get on a building or a hill and shoot through the top of it, anyone below couldn't shoot you back because it would hit the hill or building, that is what 3pv was used for in MW4

Kraven-
We ran into the same problem so we ended up having to play NHUA games with force 1pv. because there where s*** tons of players playing NHUA,
OH, oops sorry, in september pgi will be announcing you can play NHUA as a new game mode.

I, for one, actually enjoyed Mech Assault 1 & 2 as my first soiree into the Battletech universe as a Kid (even though they're practically completely removed from the universe, hey ho) and happily played MW4 in both 1st and 3rd, so I will enjoy playing MWO in both modes!

I also loved Chromehounds (greatest mech game ever made, may it rest in peace!) and have a couple of mates from that, that will be willing to play MWO once they can play in 3rd. They're not really into the whole mech sim thing but don't mind blasting people apart in giant walking robots they can look at from outside.

Grow up, they said they're looking into it, think of the new player made videos, and no one actually wants to use 3rd person, it ruins the feels.

Well tough luck Evil Ash because they are most definitely implementing it.

Also... "it ruins the feels."

And youre telling others to grow up?? Nice one.

The main points of those two articles: first person only is not going away (Garth Erlam), and third person isn't as bad as you think it is (Bryan Ekman). We haven't even seen any third person view screenshots yet. You're making assumptions, let me define it for you.

Assumption: make an *** out of you and me

^^ you pulled that out of thin air.

"Of course as promised out of the gates players will be able to choose 1PV and 3PV mixed or just 1PV."

Please stop speculating and cluttering the forums with your overrated opinions and dictionary definitions. Not only are you stirring the community up, you're making a fool of yourself.

If you assert his point is speculative then your counter-point is, necessarily, speculative. The only position you could reasonably take after dismissing his point is one of ambivalence and uncertainty, that is you could argue he is speculating and 'only time will tell' but you assert that his fears are based in unlikely speculation then impose your own speculative hopeful forecast as though it is irrefutable fact.

My god you are all just utter morons. I honestly can't beleive this thread is 140 pages long. Whats wrong with you people?

They are adding 3rd person, you will get a choice. End of story. Get over it, live with it, or just play something else and stop bringing everyone else down with your constant bitching. Seriously. How ******* old are you all?

Its a game, and this crappy discussion is getting really old.

So... don't take part in it?

I mean, I get the whole 'arguing on the internet is dumb' thing, I do...

But if you don't like a discussion, you are welcome to not read it. Same advice given by you regarding our choices with 3PV ;)

I have my moments.

And, generally speaking, "attitude" is a problem with some posters on both sides.

I do try to be calm, professional, polite, or whatever. Whether I succeed at this is an exercise for the reader :(

I have to say I started with the tabletop being a youth, read the books and have played everything branded BATTLETECH. As long as 3pv can't be abused for unfair gaming I don't care if I can still have 1pv.

Honestly, being able to see attacks hit your backside is advantage enough to make it mandatory. I play lights, and attacking from behind is bread-and-butter strategy, especially because I might not be noticed if they are taking fire to their front at the same time. 3PV will eliminate that ability.

Isn't this what the damage indicator does in the cockpit? I mean, sure maybe they don't notice the big red line on the sides/bottom/top of the reticule, but I do. Even when taking multiple shots from multiple angles.

To everyone B******g about arguing on the internet. For me this thread has nothing to do with that.

I waited 10 years for a new MW game (i didn't like LL).

So i start following the dev threads and info, 5 minutes after i read the thread that Garth posted about MWO being 1pv only I bought 2 founders packs. 2. One for me and one for my roommate who is also a big MW fan (can't remember if i called it an early birthday present or xmass present)

So i play the closed beta and then open beta, my premium time is running low so i logged on to buy $100 in MC to get a year of premium, but before i purchased I read a forum post about Russ saying that they will be introducing 3pv. Well they did NOT get any of my money that day or any day since.

PGI lied or "Lawyered" $240 out of me. Now they say that there will be separate queues, BUT for how long?

Do any of you trust PGI enough to spend more money with them, if this was your deal breaker? (ie you would quit the game before playing in matches with 1pv and 3pv) Do i have to put up a poll?

Hey, here's an idea. If the 3pv "camera" can see me, I should be able to see a red triangle above the mech I can't see (due to terrain), and I should be able to lock missles on to said mech even if I can't see it.

Does anyone know where the poll for this went?

There were several, and they all showed no support for 3pv by a factor of about 10 to 1.

Make that 19 to 1.

I would be totally fine with this.

1,000 years of technological innovation and they have lost the rear view mirror? :P

Generally, I want immersion, I want sim.

Rear view camera, either on a monitor or "switch to rear view", is realistic, believable, and still challenging and fits with the sim aspect.

An external camera view does not.

There was something about a Cry Engine limitation that prevented them using one of the cockpit monitors as a rear-view camera but I've got no idea if that was confirmed by PGI. I wouldn't mind a parking camera though!

On another note, I welcome our 3rd person overlords.
