You might be a Lyran if you think running a Demolisher is going incognito.

...if your commanding officer didn't quite understand what all the noise was when under heavy fire.

...if you wonder why everyone is using these silly C-bills in jokes here. Everyone knows that Kroner are worth more.

Kroner? My currency consists of solid gold Overlord's filled with money...

You might be a Lyran if your response to losing a Mech company is "Just get new ones."

You might be a Lyran if your scouting lance clears an enemy encampment before your assault company gets there.
Oh wait...they'll get there at the same time.

You might be a Lyran if your answer to an enemy force attacking is to hire a mercenary company to fight for you, then claim the glory yourself.

You might be a Lyran if you only played Mech Warrior for the giant mechs and explosions back in the 90's, and have no clue about Battletech lore.

well, House Steiner for me then.

Maybe this is a nerdy thing to say, but the lore is among the most interesting I've come across, especially for a gaming set-up. I'd definitely recommend looking into it~

You might be a Lyran if you think the rank of Hauptmann was named after the Mech, and not vice-versa.

You might be a Lyran if none of these jokes are anything more than common sense to you.

Just make a bunch of jokes about being a Lyran such as this:
1 You might be a Lyran if when someone tries to rob you, you give him 500$ and tell him to keep the change.
2 You might be a Lyran if you are the USA's only hope for it's national debt.

3) You use an Atlas with a 400 engine as your Scout Mech.

You might be a Lyran if you think the Grey Death Legion is the best light recon unit in the House...

oh, after finding out about 40k's lore and getting into other MMO lore, I'll be looking up MW lore off and on. A bit of intergalactic war and all over how many years?

40K doesn't have lore, it has 'nerd trolling'.

It's the "future of the 80s" so the RL current day is an alternate universe. At a glance, looks like the first interstellar war is dated to 2235. (MWO is set to 3049.) The Succession Wars have been going on and off since 2786, with the first one being nuclear. Actually by the looks, there has been nine years of relative peace since the War of '39 ending in 3040.

Actually, WH40K is pretty hilarious; the whole 'Grim Dark' thing was basically a joke on supposedly 'dark' settings that just went over the top, 40K deliberately went even more over the top but a whole generation, maybe two, of fans just never got the joke. :-P

Long may the false Emperor's corpse rot on his Golden Commode. ;-)

This explains a *lot* of things about WH40K.
When I first came across it I thought calling something "Warhammer 40000" couldn't possibly be taken seriously. Then again, I guess a name like "Battletech" has its limitations too~

Well, the 40,000 is because it's the 41st milennium in the 'Warhammer' world... Warhammer itself is "Grim Dark" and has all sorts of 'in jokes' in the naming of people and places. WH40K is the "Grim Dark Future" and has Space Elves (Eldar), Space Dwarves (Squats, officially no longer canon), Space Orcs (Orks), Space Undead (Necrons), Space Chaos (Cultists, Chaos Marines) and Space Gribblies (Genestealers, later subsumed into Tyrannids). Not to mention the Space Church and its many minions; Space Marines (real name), Space Nuns (Sisters of Battle), etc, etc. ;-)

I figured the thing about the date (which in itself seems kind of ludicrous, but the Dune series is around 20,000 or something like that so I can't criticise too much), and I guess I saw the parallels when I started playing one or two WH40K video games - manages still to be pretty cool even when taken seriously - but *still*... "Warhammer 40000"? Well, that's science fiction for you~

40k isn't science fiction. It's fantasy IN SPACE.
