This is a mistake. They should not reduce their effectiveness. They are Not overpowered.

Spread the damage a bit, but other than that SSRMS ARE fine.

The only fix they need is to remove the shaking effect on the enemy they hit. That's really what the problem with them is. They don't do that much dmg and have reasonable cooldown. Even the shake could be Ok, but unfortunately there is the A1-cat who lets you have 6 of them so the shaking becomes OP. The shaking doesn't really add anything when you got one or two of them, so imo it's a safe thing to remove from them that would keep them the same when used in moderation but nerf the lamers who mount 6 of them.

I run with all weight classes including a A1 streak boat. I use the A1 when I get tired of Jenners circle strafing me to death. They are irritating cowardly pesky mosquitos that run around nibbling me to death. Hitting them is hard, not just because of their speed or skill.
  • Full speed Jenners warp on my screen making laser hits difficult
  • I probably don't have to mention ballistic or standard SRMs
  • When running amongst tightly packed enemies, lots of friendly fire ensues
SSRMs are the effective counter for Jenners. Without streak boats, there probably would be more Jenners out there.

Besides, have you seen how many Cataphracts gunboats are in game now. They seem to be doing just as well as Streak Cats. When netcode gets fixed, they will be insane.

Do you think SRM2s are fine right now? Are they fine with Artemis?

You cant compare them.....Streak SRM/2s are a direct upgrade to SRM/2s in the Inner Sphere

TL 1, SRMS

TL 2, SSRMS

The ONLY reason normal Short Range Missiles/2 were ever outfitted with Artemis systems was for Houses/Companies that couldnt afford the new launchers or for mechs that had SRMS along with LRMS. There were A LOT of SRM outfitted mechs, and its much easier to install an Artemis system rather then installing a whole new launcher installed.

Now when you start talking SRM/4, or 6....then you dont have many options to improve damage, other then Artemis, since the IS doesnt start producing the larger streak variants until much later.(After Clans invade).

Thats mirrored in the TT game as well btw.

Again...you cannot compare them.

What Tech Level is Artemis?

And we still haven't established that we need Tech Level differences lead to straight upgrades. After all, if we had that, we'd already have real Double Heat Sinks.
