Another thought occurs to me.

That is the part raw stats won't tell you. Competencies.

If someone has done the grind to unlock the pilot competencies across 4 frames, they are going to have a great deal more utility, than someone who has stuck to their favourite chassis. Same goes for modules.

Hmm if stats go public, I'm seriously considering making a few more 'tactical errors' here and there to bring my k/d down.

I know that stats are meaningless, but for those e-peeners who look me up, I want them getting even more misinformation as to my actual skill level.

+1

All those peeps who have been alt-f4 ing when I goto kill them are going to have fun when matchmaking stage 3 starts. Their ELO score is going to be way higher then their actual skill level really is!

Trying for another locked thread, Bro?

I have to say no, unless it's zero'd out after beta or one has the option to make it private...or another option I haven't thought of. Testing single weapons, PUGging as fast as I can to gain xp/Cbills, consistent game problems, disconnects, and all the other issues have made for a much worse ratio than I'm capable of. At this point, making it public serves no purpose whatsoever for me.

THIS, RIGHT, HERE ^^^^^.

I honestly could give a rats ***. I am quite certain any kid on here making fun of another persons stats is probably not worth worrying about in real life.

Would not such a kid likely be in dire need of worry from friends (if any) & family in RL?

I don't care about my stats or anyone's stats for that matter. This is a TEAM based game, K/D means absolutely NOTHING, I believe that the only stats that matters is how many assists you have and how much damage you have done compared to your weight class.

Oh good for you you have a 40 K/D... Good for you, What I really want to know is how well a person follows the Drop Commanders orders and works with the TEAM as a unit.

If you care about your K/D ratio you really should stop putting all this into obsessing with a number, and instead focus on becoming a better pilot and asset to your TEAM

i personally think any time stats are introduced to a game it leads to 2 things: guys bragging about their e-peen and people playing matches to protect theirs stats to the detriment of everyone's fun

i think both are a bad thing and i would prefer to have no stats at all in the game forever. plus its going to make dedicated light pilots look terrible if they dont sort stats by mech type, the way they do in WOT

the people who suicide farm obviously dont care about their stats so you aren't going to hurt them any

I'm against it on principle but I don't really care.

Honestly, a LOT of people care about and want public stats, AFAIK, and they need to appeal to the largest number of people, so.... yeah...

Well for 1 stats are all screwed up because 1 premades, 2 LRMs being OP for so long and 3 lag shield mech players.

I think people should be able to hide stats.

*Edit*

Also forgot about the people that quit a game right before they die.

I'd like to see stats so I can evaluate how I do with specific mech builds. I'm not that interested in bragging, would just like some data to see what I do best with. Yeah, I have a general feel for it, for example I know of the 4G, 4J, and 4SP hunches, I'm way more effective in the 4SP. I just think it'd be cool to see the numbers behind those feelings. What are my w/l and k/d with different variants and mechs? That sort of thing.

I don't care about stats, unless them being a bit messed up effects future Elo match making in the context of groups.

I'm for it if they only take stats into consideration that were gathered in non-random matches.

This is excellent! I want to wave my epeen, but more importantly, in community warfare, this can be used as a resume (unlikely to be perfect, but would you rather hire a merc lance at 12 KDR, or the one at .5?). This is gonna be awesome for the game, ignore the personal thing and think of the potential!

Predictions:

a larger amount of mechs based around getting kill shots (i.e. more gauss/streaks)

a large increase in amount of people quitting matches early (deaths need to count if you quit/dc/crash sorry).

A large increase in "timid" players who refuse to leave cover/hiding spot until everyone has engaged. Infuriating when all your assults do this and expect med/heavy mechs to tank atlas head-on.

**

The only way this can be a positive thing is if the statistics used represent co-operative play. Currently they reflect very selfish options only.

I'd like to see stuff like weapon accuracy ratings, kill assists, damage done per match etc. Dont make people afraid to die in a match, thats horrible (for the rest of the team). They should be encouraged to fight to the last not run away and hide.

Anyone who cares what their epeen is needs to reevaluate their lives.

the problem is people do, and it can ruin an otherwise fun experience for others.

If they put in a sandbox for me to test new variants and designs in I wouldn't care either way. I honestly don't care anyway now that I think about it. It might be useful for units recruiting. I wonder if we as players will be able to hire others. That might be interesting. Obviously better stats would command more money for missions

they really need to track things like capture denial and info gathering (didn't they used to do this for exp gains?), but even then I've had tons of matches where I've severely messed up the enemy team but got 0 kills. I've stopped giving a single crap about my kill count and if I'm confident my team can finish an enemy I move on to the next. Atlas firepower is too important to be wasted on some armless streak cat or whatever.

that said my stats are pretty good anyways so unless I get really drunk and die 1200 times in one night I'll be fine.

public stats make me play worse on purpose.. like in world of tanks, I think I have a 42% win ratio in that game. Just to see people rage makes it so worth it.

Now if tournaments are decided who qualifies by this stupid stat, then I'd have issues.

all the stat hounds will start camping base, and only engage mechs that are all shot up. anyone who takes tons of damage will go hide and power down, and almost all stat hounds will drive ONLY atlas's

i just think it will have a detrimental effect on the game but i dont care enough to pitch a fit about it so whatever
