What About Community Warfare?

it has been very long time since last time someone said anything about it.
I don t even know if after Open Beta, any of the "new players" does even know there should be way much more on this game than this nonsense 8 vs 8 game mode.
I personally got involved with MWO since very first Closed Beta. My major interest in this game is ONLY related to the COMMUNITY WARFARE.
There is no discussion on the table about it. I am very concerned now.
With all of the last MW games, besides killing each other, which is fun for a while, there was a total lack of motivation to play.
If you don t give a reason, this game becomes way under valued on the FPS market. Be honest, there are tons of other games way better than this out there if my only concern is shooting ppl.
I might go back to take a look at MechWarrior Living Legends if my only concern is shooting ppl.
COMMUNITY WARFARE was the promise behind this entire project to make it legendary, and no one talk about it at all!!
If you Google "netbattletech online", you will find an amazing project was active and working a few years ago. That was the best COMMUNITY WARFARE you can think for the MW universe, and it was FREE.
I played on it for years.
I really want for this game to have something like that, really LIKE that. I am ready to pay big money to have something like that.
Instead, what are the Priorities here??
Freaking "Camo Patterns" and Dolls for cockpit ??????
I am seriously getting concerned here. I want more about the Community Warfare.
Shouldn't the Community Warfare be BETA TESTED???
It has never be part of BETA in any way....
My interest for this game is declining by the day, and is not because of bugs, weapon unbalanced or other kinda crap. All of that can be fixed, it s easy.
My interest is going down because there is nothing more than shooting each other.
It is not even the MatchMaker issue. I don t give a crap if I am shooting PUGs or Unitis, when winning or losing makes no sense whatsoever.
Lack of porpose will kill this game.
DEVs, give us some news about COMMUNITY WARFARE....

We have been promised it will be part of the game, we have never been told when it will be added. Until we're told that the Comm Warfare feature will be implemented the day the game goes out as a full game and is no longer in open beta. Then I see your point. So most likely CW will be tested jut like everything else?
Not ever employee of PGI knows how to code, some are artists, modelers, and others. All work in conjunction to get things out. But it's not likely a programmer knows how to draw good looking concept art or build a mech model in Lightscribe.

Am I entitled or not to be concerned about the feature that I am interested the most on this game?
Does my concern make any sense? The question is: They said will be part of the game. And they said that over 8 months ago.
.. Then silence about it.
There are 2 aspects of Beta testing.
One is related to the technicality and micro-management to balance the main engine and game mechanics
They are definetely doing that on every patch. Good point
The other is related to keep you updated on What is going on. I mean, ok a "slow" relaease, a Beta that will take long time, but hey... You risk your game become Obsolete before even being released.
Google keep everything in Beta forever, but Google is Google
PGI is in the Game industry, you better start rolling your product out there in a way that make sense for your Clients or your clients will move to better products.
I am wondering if PGI thinks that the "Longevity" on this product is given by Camo Patterns and Dolls or it should be given by Game Modes and Reason to exist.
The other day I was thinking about the CW and I was saying to myself "pretty tough to have a Planetary War when you have 4 maps available, all of the Planets in the Inner Sphere are gonna look pretty much similar.."
Definetely there is A LOT of work to be done to get to the CW, but the fact they are not even talking about is almost like to say.. "Let s see if they forgot about it, no pressure..."

We know they read the forums......so how about it gentlemen? I think an Official post regarding it is due, I mean it can't be THAT far off can it? I don't think so anyway, not many features that need implementing to at the very least "test" it. I am certain it is already created and being polished off as we type. We are going to test it right? Likely to reset it prior to the clan invasion?

Oh yes ... yes we were.
"90 days after the start of open beta".
Which is, of course, a pipe dream now given the way things have worked out and are going.
In addition, all mention of CW was even removed from the website during the redesign (when we went OB); the "Game" section of the main menu used to detail where the game was headed (CW) instead of what it is now which is a description of the game as-is.

This thread
http://mwomercs.com/...eature-roadmap/
shows some of the features coming online
50% chance of Conquest game mode coming in December. We all know that with a 50% chance, it is LESS likely that we will see it than actually showing up then, but it is listed.
80% chance of Phase 2 match making showing up on the same scheduled date. Phase 2 is where we separate the PuGs from the Pre-Mades, My GUESS is these 2 items show up at or close to the same time frame.
Phase 3 of match making in Late December / January. This is even more so where CW begins to take shape.
Maps are listed in a different thread. Again the dates mostly co-inside with the Match Making changes, or at least that is their scheduled time frames.
I played NBT for years, still do (it IS active). I agree, they had the BEST, bar none, system for Faction Warfare. Period. I would love to see PGI take that system, update it to their game system and drop into place. Utopia!
However, NBT was not built in a day or even a week. They used that game system of planets, battles, 'live' faction maps for years and years and the current group running NBT still use it with some ever evolving changes. NBT did NOT have to design the game and make it all work AND tie it in to a Planetary System. PGI did and does have to.
When NBT went to Hardcore system overlay, they went through exactly the same things that PGI is going through. heat management, weapons balance, mechs and hard points and on and on. The difference is that NBT had a game the already existed and they used that to fit into their system. And for the record, NBT ran off donations. Dark Phoenix funded the game from his business for a longgggg time, but always asked for donation to keep the servers running. Still that way today.
PGI is on the way and I am very excited about the CW part of the game. I know the Devs are too. I will happen, but these things do take time and they (PGI) have a lot on their plate at the moment. Little steps...

PGI has also stated that everything is due to change in the development process. A statement well known to anyone who's ever been interested in a video game and it's development.
Let's say just for giggles that PGI adds CW in the next patch and it goes something like this:
Planet Alpha is on a border to 2 factions, in order for one faction to control that planet the factions need to have 100 fights (TDM) in order to facilitate ownership of the planet. Though the resources of that planet are controlled by who wins more matches of objective based games like Zone Capture.
Since there's only 4 maps the game is still going to be the same. Capping bases in a TDM isn't going to change anything because it's not a game mode in itself. We need objective based games and maps for them.

Do you have any idea how behind schedule they are, never mind the obvious cash crunch that caused them to chuck the game into "open beta"?
At this point I'd say Spring would be optimistic for CW if it ever exists.

I do not mean to criticize PGI, particularly since I am necessarily uninformed as to the real world pressures they are operating under. I am, however, a single-issue voter when it comes to my gaming dollars and MWO: a good CW experience will keep me buying into the game, whatever I feel to be a poor CW system (clanwars from WoT as an example) will drive me away.
I have been advocating for a MPBT/MPBT:3025 type system in which the Houses were the focus of the system. Unfortunately it is quite clear this will not be the case for the foreseeable future. We will have mwomercs in mwomercs.com from what I can gather. With that being said I am open minded enough to wait and see what PGI has in mind for CW. I hope to be blown away. I am, however, managing my expectations.

But until that day comes I will continue to hone my abilities on the limited battlefields we have, preparing for the planetary battles that will unfold.

Sorry to say this, but adding more fluff features for ingame microtransactions is what was glaringly missing from this F2P game, not community warfare. In this case they had their priorities right. Implementing CW needs a solid foundation and part of this foundation is things like this, that will give the game more longevity.
Believe it or not, they are doing this in a sensible order. You can't just slap CW on a product that itself still has so many walking problems and generates too little income fro the long haul.
Nevertheless I'd approve of more transparency / communication on currently implemented features (even the smallest hotfix / update) and also about the "big picture" that we are all longing for.

This is actually what worries me....There are some new technologies coming down the field in the next 5 years that makes this concept a concern, plus several kickstarter projects that received quite a bit of funding and that are also very popular genres with persistent online shards.

As you would remember the devs stated that CW would come at best at the end of open beta and perhaps even after that. So last time i checked graphical artists did not have all that much to do with the systems behind a major component like CW. So how those are related i have not the wildest of clues.
I am sure that as soon as they have anything to tell us they will, as you mentioned this is a major part of the game. Or do you honestly want a dev post that simply states.. "CW. no new info" that seems abit pointless to me.

You would hope by now they would have beta screenshots, or at least concept art of it. They could at least provide some details of how the CW system will work? If they haven't even decided on the basic mechanics of it, that makes me worried.

again it was explained during closed beta that the aim was to have the game stable and working before they started to implement any major component of the CW.. I am sure that the netcode problem have pushed that idea further in to the future.
Not saying i do not agree, just that i can understand why we have no other news. At best i would guess it is in early alpha right now but more likley still in the prototype stage. Look for it towards the summer.
