As a side note... I went back to the brawler variant for the 4SP:
5x mls
2x srm6
Good deal of fire power..

Well that's because people are unlocking their speed tween to boast their mechs speed by about ten percent.

I was actually going through that as you were posting but thanks anyways.. I need that speed tweak, even though it is doing great with 84kph... You can catch up with lights and give assaults a difficult time..
I am loving the 4SP, i find it hard to swap to another mech..

I should never have flipped a coin choosing my third Hunchback between the 4J and 4P, I cannot stand the 4P at all. Once I get to unlock Master, I am dumping it, it has to be the hardest Mech I have owned and my W/L + K/D ratios are the worst. All ML doesn't run well, 3LL no good, 2LL +2ML no good, best is LL + 6ML and still.....

Don't give up on the 4P, it is just a matter of taming the heat. Massed medium lasers destroy anything. Are you running a 250+ engine? http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f9ef49064b9acea

You have 0.5t left, better drop the BAP and put an 260 plus an addidional ML in there: HBK-4P
Pretty standard, but absolute devasting. If you drop the AMS you can put the 18th DHS in there but you end up with 0.44 unused tonnage.
The only drawback of this build is the limited range, you must engage at least to 400m. But with the fast engine (plus speedtweak its not that hard).

I keep it exactly .5 underweight so that I can swap equipment in seconds The difference from max armor to max round number armor is almost nothing. Remember they are buffing the BAP soon so the 4P is a good test platform. I do already have a 260 but I am using it more in my Jager right now.

Otherwise, strap some LRMS and ER Laser on that and use it as a support mech, I found it very inefficient doing 60-70 KPH in close range combat, small mechs and assaults with take you down..
When I had the basic 200 engine, I filled my HBK with LRMs and was very useful speeding up the kills for my team but It wont earn you any decent scoring..
Regarding the 4P, double heat sinks, I assume should solve your worries...
This is bro-science, based on my experience..
A little off topic, I am seeing a trend of more people getting the Trebuchet lately, which feels like a more nimble mech compared to the Hunchback. Though, I still feel the HBK is more robust..

- 14 DHS
- Endo
- Standard Armor
- XL 245 (an engine I kept from a SDR build I sold off to make space, gives a nice top speed to the HBK )
- ERPPC
- 3 MPL
- AMS
- TAG
- 2 LRM's (I replaced the SRM's as I was just running to hot when the fighting came up close, and the LRM's let me contribute a bit more on the mid to long range stuff).

Yeah, I think the reputation of Hunchies as brawlers may be overstated in alot of ways. It's easy to forget that it's just a 50t mech. Sure, the setup everyone knows with the AC/20 is made for up close and personal, but it's still just a 50t ,mech, with moderate armor, in the grand scheme of things. If one enemy heavy or assault decides to punch your ticket, it's going to get punched. So it requires smart play to play to be successful, IMHO, and really needs to be used as part of a team strategy. Cowboying up and charging in with a HBK makes for a short game.
Again, all in my humble opinion.

HBKs should have 1 long range weapons with the 4SP being an exception by players though it could mount LRMs instead.
This is due to the addition of larger maps.
I find having 1 good mid to long range weapon on HBKs a plus.
I believe the 4H is better for AC/10 or LBX than AC/20.

The HBK starts to stand out once you unlock its basic inefficiencies, get double heat-sinks and a 260 engine; then it is a very dependable & durable mech..
Though its a 50 ton like some mentioned here and sometimes you get too excited and start piloting it like a very nimble heavy mech, which is not a good idea.
Its a great brawler, wingman and escort mech for assaults.

Exactly! I get a little too frisky sometimes with my HBK's, since I am so new to them, and am quickly made to pay the price.
