The Light Mech developer video on IGN shows a Catapult getting killed by a Hunchback. The Catapult keels over and dies without exploding, and it "despawned" from the map after only 2 or 3 seconds.

http://www.ign.com/v...loper-breakdown
(time = 2:00 - 2:10)

This isn't how I expected it to be... I'd like to see Dead Mech carcasses littering the battlefield, serving as obstacles to impede movement through tight gulleys (think convoy ambushes - you destroy the first and last vehicles to choke the rest of them in) and perhaps a little explosion on death to sweeten the experience. Just keeling over and dying, then rapidly despawning is somewhat of a let-down... but this could very-well just be an artifact of game-incompleteness. It's just an early Beta, after all.

There are a ton of things not working or buggy in the videos if you watch for them, but it is to be expected in an early build and I'm sure that they are on top of most of them.

I think you should have more guessed it was a result to it being beta. ;)

If it's like other games in the past the persistence of dead bodies and rag-doll-like physics is a graphical setting that can be turned on and off. They may not have implemented the option yet, and it might not even be implemented at 'release' as they are going for a minimum viable product (or whatever term was used) initially.

Personally I wouldn't care if it stayed as the video is, given the option I'd probably prefer it this way.

PGI, please take these comments with a grain of salt.

If PGI ends up slapping a huge THIS IS ALPHA FOOTAGE watermark on future videos in order to get the idea across to people that you might see a bug or 2 and that they should not take everything they see as the way it will be in the final product, then it's gonna be HUNTING TIME ;)

No worries Garth, you guys are doing a fantastic job. The footage and info we already have, which seems to be somewhere between an Alpha and Beta stage of readiness, is better than some other complete titles. We already have the best MW game ever and it's not even done yet. Just goes to show, though, that we care so much that even dead and burning 'Mechs come under community scrutiny. ;)

If I had to guess I'd say dead mech animations are probably far lower on the priority list than other game features.

My guess is that the dev team will update the death animation in the future and mechs will probably end up collapsing while remaining in the spot where they "died". I'm hoping they could also provide some form of cover.

Start ranting and raving NOW so you'll be up to speed when you really need it later on! Game development is also about whipping fans into an expectation frenzy that cannot be sated, so we KNOW it will be needed later on.

Add lemon juice to said salt, then pour on the rubbing alcohol and, to top things off, don't blow on it after.
