How had the patch generally affected your performance?

much much better than the last (terrible) few weeks... not perfect, little stuttering and such in - i guess - effect heavy situations... but over all it´s fun again

edit: this post was way longer, but it didn´t post properly...grml... no time to rewrite it now... i´ll edit it tomorrow i guess :D

about 16 to 20 fps (feels smooth though) , settings low/ off...textures medium ...

Got small lags since yesterdays patch, which make it impossible to aim with weapons. Played about ten games today and lost em all thanks to those lags. The game worked fine for me since september...till yesterday.

Got a Geforce GTX 560Ti with an i5 2500k and 8 Gig of Ram and Realtek HD Audio. Running Win7.
Systems Specs are on Very High and Motion Blur is off. DSL 6 Mbit, Germany.
Drivers are up to date.

How had the patch generally affected your performance?

No change as I see it, game runs very smooth.

What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?

Resolution 1920x1080.
Advanced video settings set to "very high" except shadows which are at "high"

Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)

Average FPS 50, lowest close to 30 and max at 60 (VSYNC enabled).

System specs

Intel Core i5-2500K @3.3 GHz (maximum turbo freq upped to 4.2 GHz since last patch)
NVIDIA 570 GTX, NVIDIA drivers latest beta release 310.64.
32 GB RAM
Windows 7 64-bit
Onboard Realtek HD audio

Your advertised internet connection speed / Geographic location

100M down/10M up ethernet connection. Finland.

As I see lots of complaints about performance I was curious and set CPU affinity of mwoclient.exe process to 2 CPU cores only, FPS dropped during game play to 10 or below at times and overall performance was very poor. With all 4 cores enabled game runs extremely well.

I don't think that full reinstall is necessary, try deleting all content in MechWarrior Online\USER\Shaders\Cache directory and launch mwoclient.exe again and see if it helps.

Hey Niko... what are the odds of us getting a little reach-around transparency on this?
I mean, I know "we're working on it", but any real idea of what you guys are finding on your end would be nice. I find it strange that some people with lesser system specs are having FPS Gains, while so many of the rest of us can't play at all.

wtf are you doing ?
game is more and more uinplayable.
we dont need more trees, bettwer loking rocks and a camo system.
at first we need a game qitch is playable and wirth every new patch you destroy it more and more.
after last patch with his big frame drop i come back to nearli playable with 20-30 fps with a good user config.
and now... i have ******* 8 fps
from full hd with high details and 50 fps ion the close beta to low settings and 8 fps.
and the resolution is not the big problem with a sub hd config the fps are nearly the same.
I do not understand what you are doing other cryengin3 games really run well.
my system spec are some pages in front of these feedback

so then I'm again a week break and sincerely hope that what will cause her to save this good game
at the moment I'm just disappointed and just where I've already given you all the money accomplishes something really good on her.

Hi,

for me, the patch did not change anything:

Posted Image

Note: ALL values are average values (number of games noted in each bar) of the corresponding value. Error bars correspond to Max (average) and Min (average), respectively.

My hookup is a DSL connection, 16 kbit/s - ping always constant 120 ... 140 ms

General observations on FPS:
  • if at all dependent on the daytime, I observe in the morning (GMT), FPS is slightly lower than in the evening (3-4 FPS) - I think this is related to server load (PDT=GMT-7h) since most players (US?) play in the evening/night (PST)
  • the feature "motion blur" (OFF vs. HIGH) has apparently no impact on the FPS rate, at least on my specific system
  • on any map, huge differences in FPS occur when looking up in the sky, to the edge of the map or when in the heat of the battle - I think this is kind of normal. I could not observe any significant differences between the various maps ... however, statistics is still low (for each map that means). The variation is close to +/- 30%. I am not a hardcore gamer (I just love MW), so I cannot make a statement on whether this is typical or not.
Regarding bugs, I think the game is (still beta) quite stable at least for my particular system:
  • "CTD" bug happened pre-patch (Nov 27th) maybe once, post-patch once
  • "yellow screen" bug never happened post-patch (pre: once)
  • disconnect, black screen, 4 FPS, motion blur bug all never happened to me
Questions which came up for myself while doing this analysis:
  • server load: how many servers are there?
  • how many players actually play the game in one moment on one server? In closed beta, there was a counter in the launcher, but it was removed in one of the October patches. Anyway, I never knew if these were all players on all servers in that moment or just the players on the server I randomly was connected to.
  • is the observed variation (+/-30%) something normal in online games?
regards,

Al Bert

I've steadily been losing fps for the last few patches. At one point I could play at 1920x1080 and never drop below 35fps and now I constantly drop below 20. Looking off into the distance with no mechs in that line I can get around 60fps but as soon as there is a mech in my viewing field, even if not in my los the fps drop.

Specs
stock AMD 965 phenom II x4 BE
4 gigs of ram
evga 560 ti (play at 1920x1080) with light OC

I have tried reinstalling the client but that made little if any improvement.

Please attempt to respond to the following questions in your responses:
  • How had the patch generally affected your performance?
Initially my patch client would not load this patch. Had to do a complete re-install.
  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
After the re-installation performance improved on all maps.
  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
I have an older ATI Radeon HD 4670 so I have everything turned down low. No changes to settings since last patch.
  • Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
Previous patch in menu - 23 FPS

Previous patch in game - 8 FPS

Latest patch in menu - 28 FPS

Last patch I was getting 60FPS with long drops down under 30. Now it is hovering around 45-60 but now I am also getting down into the single digit FPS(s) as well. I'm running a pair of 690's but until SLi is activated I'm running at 1/4 strength, a singe 680. Which should still be keeping the FPS well above single digits.

Reinstalled MWO before 27.11 patch, I also delete USER/SHADERS/CACHE regularly. I was forced to set my graphics setting even lower. Started from HIGH settings, now a mix of medium/low/off.

Problem in frequent reinstalling is that you might get corrupted files (a risk in every patch as game doesn't check the files it sends nor it can't repair broken files), which requires another full reinstallation.

How had the patch generally affected your performance?
- Still having massive rubberbanding & fire delay issues, even when my ping is 100 or less. Recently the lasers have started firing late, twice, or not at all like the ballistics/PPCs.

Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
- Missiles and smoke cause my performance to drop dramatically.

What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
- AA off, Medium on most settings, set last patch.

Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
- 30~40 in game, unknown in lab. This has remained consistent. FPS can drop as low as 1 under heavy LRM/SRM fire.

System specs (You can include them in a [spoiler] [ /spoiler])
- These haven't changed since I submitted a request for CB. I don't have these on hand.
- Using Wireless N for my in-house connection.

Your advertised internet connection speed / Geographic location
- 6MB/s. Baltimore, MD. ~100mg ping. WiMax.

  • How had the patch generally affected your performance?
  • It hasn't
  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
  • Movement, any movement of my mech, or any other mech in my field of view dramatically reduces my frame rate
  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
  • My video settings are unchanged, everything on low or off, 1920x1080 (my monitors native resolution) changing this to a lower resolution does not change my frame rate (I've tested that)
  • Average FPS in-game and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
  • 30 sitting still, nothing moving in my field of view, 5-10 with any actual movement (this is down from 45 sitting still 35 in heavy action 2 patches ago)
  • System specs (You can include them in a [spoiler] [ /spoiler])
  • Intel Pentium E-8400 Dual Core 3.0 Ghz
  • Windows Vista 64 (Latest service Pack)
  • 4 Gigs ram
  • Nvidia G-Force 9800 Gtx + (1 Gig on-board ram, 1 Ghz processor, 200 Cuda Cores)
  • Your advertised internet connection speed / Geographic location
  • 54 Mbps Wireless (not ideal for gaming, I know, but If that's the problem why was the game working so well before?) Central CA West Coast U.S.

I just tried the game after the patch today. Read the patch notes and did not see anything addressing the frame rate issue people like myself are having but I thought I would give it a go. Not unsurprisingly my frame rare is still... unplayable. I've been searching the forums to see if the issue has been addressed but I've not found anything so I thought I would bring it up.

Are there plan's to optimize the game for older Dual Core machines?

I'm at the point where I need to build a new machine, from scratch, new OS, new Mobo, new Cpu/Gpu ect. an upgrade would be pointless, I have to start over, and that's not in the budget rite now. What I want to know is are there plans to optimize for older machines or should I write this one off until I can build a new rig.

  • How had the patch generally affected your performance?
It's gotten worse over the last 2 or 3 patches. Though still playable, and rarely ever stutter.
  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
Only during high speed movement or heavy missile launcher usage.
  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
1920x1080@60hz Effects:High, Object Detail:Very High, Particles:High or Medium, Post Processing:Very High, Shading:Very High, Shadows:High, Texturing:Very High, Environment:High, AntiAliasing on or off has no effect, with enhance application settings selected with Edge Detect setting enabled. 8x Anistropic, AMD Optimized Tessellation enabled, And AA mode set to Adaptive MultiSampling set in Vision Control center.
  • Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
Average FPS in Menus is 60fps, drops to 30s when first selecting a new mech bay. In FPS starts out at mid 50s while waiting. Then averages between 40-18, especially in the forest colony maps. Snow City usually around 40-60 before, and dropped to 30-40 this patch. Caustic, starts out mid 50s, and averages low 30s, looking at the volcano plumes makes it drop to mid 20s. River city averages 20-40fps.
  • System specs
Spoiler
  • Your advertised internet connection speed / Geographic location
ETEX ADSL 6-10Mb down, 512k up.

Things I've noticed, while watching CPU load with the game running while in battle, rarely goes over 40%. Turning the power settings in windows 7 to performance from balanced seems to stabilize FPS a bit, though I do believe that disables turbo. I'm not 100% sure what the GPU load has been, as that is harder to observe. Though i know my gpu fans never go above 40% while running the game.

Does anyone know of a program to run that monitors CPU, GPU, and RAM Load with an overlay that can be seen in game?

And this particular little bug just cropped up for me.
