I don't mind it so much from a Jenner streak immunity standpoint (I only ever shoot lasers at them), it's just that this makes me wonder why the Raven was even included in this game. Its one niche is that it's supposed to be an EW boat, and if you give that ability to other 'light 'Mechs that outclass it then there really is no reason to ever take a Raven onto the field.

THis is BS, I use a Jenner D and its bonk enough with **** for netcode.

ECM SHOULD BE RESTRICTED TO MECHS THAT HAVE ECM IN CANNON.

And to add to that, countering it with another mech screws PUGs pretty hardcore. It isn't like someone in a Catapult fire support mech pugging can control what his team brings to play.

forget the meta. asakara's counter requires 2 mechs to counter 1. when it becomes 2 mechs against 2, the jenners now have 2 ecms versus the "counter" team's 1. counter becomes useless

exactly the point. the only way to fight jenners will be...to take your own jenners. sounds like loads of fun, huh?

My counter? It is neat when one person makes something up in their mind (i.e. needing 2 mechs to counter 1 jenner) and says it belongs to someone else. :)

Being a Jenner pilot I always take my own Jenner... And I have loads of fun too.

They should add it to the K Jenner.. i always feel its a bit neglected.. or even better.. none at all :X not every light mech is a scout.. if we ever get a hollander, a urbanmech or a panther they sure wont carry ECM..

i have 9 mechs mastered. 3 atlases, 3 jenners, and 3 cataphracts. so i have lots of fun in my jenner as well. but i really have no desire to see the game become even more jenner-dominated than it is now

as described, and even yourself offer that the only way to fight off jenners is with your own jenner. that's not a good game design. it's like the nov6 patch, before the nov8 hotfix, where the only way to fight off lrm boats was with your own lrm boats to out-lrm them. i'm sure the people who enjoy lrm's normally had a great time...at first.

Yeah I feel ripped off for making Ravens at all.

No ECM for the toilet mech. At all. If they add chassis quirks like they said during the YLW thing, give K a chassis quirk. That's all.

Leave EW gear out of the toilet. It's already the absolute top.

Aegis you completely missed my point about how long it takes pgi to do simple balancing. We complained about gauss being over the top compared to other weapons and months later it wasn't even touched at all.
Neither were PPCs buffed even though they claim they plan to.
Sorry but you are having a bit too much faith in PGI here, their time to fix balancing issues with certain things proved to take months more than once. It is likely that it will be same here.

Hey, ask me if PGI can fix the netcode issue; I'll give you a resounding "HELL No.". There are areas where I think PGI is doing it up right and there are areas where I feel like they aren't cutting mustard.

I think ultimately, it's up to PGI to make changes to the game; we really don't have the same point of view on how many people are making what kind of statements that PGI has, so it's hard to really tell.

Which point?

The point that PGI has shown themselves to be very adept at predicting the obvious outcome of their choices (such as the relationship between increased rate of fire and low heat weapons), or their design choices that allow a 1.5 ton piece of equipment to completely neuter entire enemy mech archetypes just by standing close enough to them?

I do not state the only way to fight a jenner is a jenner. I typed it as an option to counter your "2 mechs to counter 1 jenner" statement.

We do have the point of view on this: which is the most popular light mech?

- Jenner.

variant?

- Jenner D

which mech does NOT need a buff of any kind?

- Jenner, and ESPECIALLY Jenner D

it's... not exactly space calculus, I guess. I could even figure it out without my crystal ball (which I usually use to shoot Jenners).

Come December I'll put aside my long time loathing of light mechs and embrace the op. Ability to use endo/dh/ff. High speed lag shield, ecm to take care of missiles, tiny target, simple load out with ML's... same rewards for playing, less cost to pay for repairs. Profit!!!

We may all have to do this. Heck, the Cat A1 is literally useless against ECM now. The mech LITERALLY cannot do anything but try to run away. I don't run a 6 streak A1 for the record, but I like my mech to be more than just a walking lump of steel.

Should have been the JR7-K or no Jenner at all. The Raven and Commando would have been just fine.
As for the Streakapults, they'll have to live with using regular SRMs, because yes, they will be utterly useless. :)

As a Jenner D pilot, I say that this is insane. NO Jenner should have this, especially the best variant. I could drop my AMS+ammo and grab this, and become immune to missiles. **** THAT. I will NOT use this on my Jenner. I will not contribute to the insanity.

Leave it to the Ravens. ONE variant of ONE mech of each size (preferably the one with the worst hardpoint layout), should have this, plus all the raven variants and no other light chassis.

It will have to remain between 180m and 270m.
Which is a range bracket that anyone who liked using pt blank firing LRMs is used to.

In table top you could customize your mechs and put ECM on mechs that did not start with it, if the GM allowed it. Now, since we have a module system in play why not only allow ECM in mechs that lore allows, but if you buy the module and pay for the huge cost to upgrade your master Jenner to carry ECM then why not.

I pilot Jenners, great mech but the weight of ECM will mean either less heat efficient, no AMS or even worse less or no missiles. So the weight of ECM is the big question. If it weighs 3 tons then a Jenner will have to take that hit somewhere, speed, firepower or armor or AMS either way its rock/paper/scissors.

Hmm seems like my A1 Catapult is going to get a slight rebuild. Lrm 10 artemis, LRM 10 artemis, srm 6 and 3 streak srm2's. This will allow me to be useful at all ranges and even when ECM is in effect. Plus this means TAG is now more important. I hate doom and gloomers that cry foul before there is any proof that something is wrong.

Sorry if your uber min/max build now has to be adjusted. This game is in beta, open beta but still beta. We are crash test dummies for PGI and hopefully we will help them get this game right.

Chris
