The Cataphract known as "Lucky Thirteen" was one of the first few CTF-2X prototypes to roll off Earthwerks Incorporated assembly lines at Tikonov. The 'Mech was given to Sergeant Major George Lytton, a member of McKinnon's Raiders, also known as the Fox's Teeth, as a reward for his exemplary service during the Fourth Succession War. Throughout its service in that elite unit, "Lucky Thirteen" would undergo several rebuilds and modifications. Eventually, it would even serve as a pattern for a standard refit kit produced by Johntson Industries in 3048. And, though no direct proof is available, there is circumstantial evidence that "Lucky Thirteen" was the inspiration for the Ceasar battlemech, also developed by Johnston Industries.
Sergeant Sara Lytton-McKinnon:
Following the death of her father, George Lytton, on Wotan in 3051, Sara inherited his salvaged Cataphract, Lucky Thirteen, along with his duties as bodyguard of Ian McKinnon, commander of the Fox's Teeth Company. Later that year, however, Ian McKinnon retired and his son, Ross McKinnon, assumed command of the company. This created a breach of the AFFS regulations against fraternization, as Ross was Sara's husband and now commanding officer. At first, the AFFS command ordered Sara reassigned to another unit. However, the Lytton family had served as bodyguards to the McKinnons for over two hundred years and the Fox's Teeth were not about to break with tradition in the midst of the Clan War. The entire company threatened to resign if Sara wasn't allowed to take her rightfull position. The AFFS could little afford that during the crisis of the time and so, Sara has been allowed to keep her position for the time being.

wouldn't lucky 13 simply have the same/very similar hardpoint layout as the CTF-2X? The CTF-IM has a totally unique hardpoint layout (by using recycled parts)

you can put three gauss or UAC5 on it. No one has ever read the backstory to anything in an MMO.

however PGI could give it some different (extra) hard points, as the chassis was in fact a Prototype turned combat vehicle. It also has a very cool back story with characters and units loved in the Canon History. Just sayin'.

Gotta say this. MMO's are not known for their amazing story arcs... it's an excuse for a new shiny mech that has a unique config. 3x Ballistic 3x Energy will be very nice indeed.

The video games have always been apocryphal to lore anyway.

What makes it worse is the whole not loyal to Capellan Confederation but is hunting FedCom Cataphracts for stealing them from Capellans.

All Fox's Teeth Mechs, which is different from the 7th Crucis Lancers parade colors. Only one Company uses that scheme out of the 8 RCTs.

This coming from someone from the FRR, which can't go 10 years without getting conquered? (Sorry, couldn't resist.

As far as the OP goes, I don't really mind them making up hero mechs despite there being plenty to choose from already but the back story was a little lacking imo. I probably won't buy it either way since I can't really make a Marauder out of it.

*poke PGI, the Project Phoenix Marauder IIC looks sufficiently awesome to base a PGI made Marauder I/II on and is 100% lawyer free. Just please don't use the standard PF gangly Marauder model, ugh...

(Green and yellow with credit symbols all over it, he was one of Natasha Kerensky's early enemies despite the actual person behind the mask changing over time). Think Boba Fett of Mechwarrior but nobody knew what he looked like, just his mech.
