I'm just hoping that they allow people in House's to be able to form up lance groups with friends. Then when I find people in my House that I can trust to do their job, or at least be /fun/ to play with, then I can group with those people more often.

Otherwise, when talking about PUG? Commander means diddly really. Stay away from the friendly fire airstrikes from some other commander using their commander abilities when they think they should cuz they have the /right/ to play how they want and ruin other people's fun.

Too hard to tell at this point. I prefer any method over random or "I started the group." Hopefuly, there will be some internal mechanic.

Otherwise: test of endurance - we drink; whoever doesn't die leads.

considering most matches are PUG <pick up group> matches, player choice is not a good idea, since, deny it all yall want, we will ALL think "I" should be commander and not "YOU" ya know?

this if ya dont understant pick up the empire mod from half life 2 i quite playing that game cause every one bitched to the commander how we would have one if they were the commander

I think to sum this thread up:

PGI, please tell me you have a different matchmaking system for both pugs AND pre-made units?

All the people arguing for commander voting seem (to me) to be a more dedicated player most likely in a merc or house unit. Voting for a commander in this makes sense, since they all know each other, and know what each is capable of.

Pugs are different, and cannot be held to the same level of expectations one would get from a Unit. This is made even more true by the F2P model, which will attract even MORE players with little to no knowledge of MW or BT.

By who has the least whiny and annoying voice to listen to. If noone has a non-whiney voice, noone gets to be commander.

Petty perhaps, but I hate people with whiny, obnoxious voices who are trying to be bossy and command people over their ****** mics...

Will there be an "avoidance system"? So if I had a bad experience with a player(s) my chances of playing with them go down?

That was a little off topic, but what Melissia just said made me flashback to several occasions on Xbox Live where I hated whiny voiced children.

So... 3rd lance for the Irregulars or do we plan out effective 3 Mech Lances?

Drops happen and sometimes you have to take what's available. How do we handle those pesky Heros and loose cannons?

If ever selected as team captain (depending on how much pre-mission prep time you get) I would politely ask my team what they think we should do. Who's good at what, and what we can compromise on/do without.

I'd think it'd be cool to get to know people's play-styles and whatnot and develop strategies on the fly.

This makes me wonder how many players on the enemy team are going to choose him as a primary target based on attitude alone. I get the feeling his battlefield performance won't back up his forum claims. I suspect making enemies with various merc groups will make for a much shorter average lifespan per match if name tags remain on enemy targets. I remember seeing guys act that way in other games over the years, seems they were often the first taken out by enemy forces.

Sooo Rejarial Galatan how many c-bills will you pay every time we just head straight for him and make it our mission to kill him first when we see him?

jk (but seriously how much)

The ONLY time a commander should be telling people exact mechs/loadouts is if your guild is built that way. If you are part of a hardcore Merc Corp and all the members have agreed to these terms and you only play with your Corp, then feel free. If you get random/voted as commander then you dont get any say. Ask what people have, come up with start, listen what people have to say and try to help out, dont pretend for a moment you are in a real military giving real orders to people.

You know people, you assume I am A. going to take the same exact name into the game. B. that I cannot back my words up with action. C. that I honestly care what the lot of you think of me. What the majority of yall seem to fail to understand is this: No player in ANY game has the right or privilege to tell another player how they must go through a game. There is only 1 set of people in a game out side of the player who is being told how to play, how to play. That is NOT a person who has the 'title' of commander, or party leader or guild leader. It is, the GAME DEVELOPERS. THEY set the rules, not us players. Sure, we can set what rules we want for our merc corps or guilds, but, we cannot say: Player you MUST use THIS mech with THIS EXACT load out. Sure, you can ASK them to use a given mech or set up, but, you MUST take into account that what ever works for YOU, the person MAKING the request, wont work for the player your asking in every situation. Example: YOU rock a heavy mech, you have all your command modules and what not, and you see your lacking a scout mech for a nice round group. You look at your players on your team and ask say the guy in the Atlas to kindly switch to a scout mech. 50/50 shot he has a scout mech first off, let alone has the thing skilled. IF its your own corp, then, you KNOW the player, if its a PUG, then your making a blind guess, and if you guess wrong and just took a guy who is lethal with his mech and ask him to run something he doesnt use at all, well, only YOU can be blamed for that failed match. Look, I am all for balancing a team to make it work, but, to have the idea you can FORCE the issue is ludicrous.

Na thats why you play with a guild if you are taking it that seriously. Like i said before, if you are part of a guild and thats how they roll, thats fine. If you are not playing with your guild then thats not fine, not even in the slightest.
