Don't concern yourself with the tonnage, concern yourself with the capabilities. Tonnage is meaningless. XL that engine and all of a sudden you've got a lot to play with.

Psh... tone down the engine, keep it standard tech, drop the lasers, and strap on a PPC and 2 machineguns...

That's a Cicada 3C. The standard engine means it won't completely die from losing a side-tosro, unlike Mechs with those Extra Glass engines that shatter if you look at them too hard...

Either way, people are too stuck on the tonnage of the mech rather than what it can do. It's faster than anything else in the game, and it finally gives the mediums something OTHER than a standard trooper style mech.
