What drugs were you people on when you decided on THIS one?

Ok, not a bad mech, but certainly never popular. There are others that could have been chosen that were much more popular.

Cicada? No!

Why not an ASSASSIN? Better design/artwork, better weapons!

Cicada looks like Jenner and raven: long legs, Torso without "arms", and so on.
A few weeks ago, folks were complaining that the 'Mechs were too often selected in previous titles. Now there are complaints that the 'Mechs are too similar and unpopular. I feel sorry for the devs.

I'm not sure Robocop is an obscure reference :)

I think the right spelling is simply Vrooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom!

Funny thing that I picked the Cicada for the first time in Megamek just yesterday. Didn't survive, but brought a Stalker down to its feet twice by kicking. :)

But I did notice the legs are back canted instead of human style legs like the original. I can see four or more of these with the Uac-5 being a real prolem for the slower mechs.
Actually, I think in the original art, it's a reverse joint. While not as obvious in the TRO: 3025, it's more obvious here:

Well, not my all time favorite. I did see this coming. I just hope they release the Battle Master next.

I am impressed, it is a nice redesign and a good add to the brawl heavy medium mech line-up. Anyone know when the Inner Sphere gets MASC?

What?! Total surprise. Brilliant work as always by Alex and the team. Totally unexpected though so repaints will be tough to squeeze into agenda...

Thing looks wicked! I am not a light pilot, but I hope torso twisting doesn't keep up with them well.

Well, good thing for you that the Cicada is a medium 'Mech. :)

It's pronounced si-kay-da.

It's a bug. The one that buzzes during the fall and leaves it's shells all over trees and buildings.

Wow... Excellent choice, guys! I am honestly blown back by this.

I mean, up to this point, all the 'mech choices seem to have been mostly optimized combat machines. The Atlas, The Awesome... the only one that wasn't really a popularity pageant winner was the Dragon. Now, the Cicada makes it's first appearance since MW2 Mercenaries - and is our very first dedicated scout 'mech. Yes, the Jenner is fast, but the Jenner was designed (Tabletop, anyway) to be more of a flanker to get around the big 'mechs like the Awesome and Atlas and harass it from the rear with a very powerful alpha strike, falling back to drop the heat gauge.

But the Cicada - that's a dedicated scout. It's not powerful at all, but it moves at a break-neck pace and it has absolutely no on-board ammunition to worry about having cook off.

Excellent choice - and surprisingly true to the original while still looking impressive. Here's hoping 'mech #3 keeps true to this pattern and we get to see the Stalker or Cyclops as our next assault.

...Jagermech would be interesting to see as our third heavy, though I'd think the Grasshopper would be most appropriate. Both of our heavies so far have been kind of stand-offish long-ranged combatants, but we've yet to see any very durable brawling heavies come onto the field.

On table top it didn't matter but here it might. I mean is it gonna be a bigger target to aim at than the jenner?

I can't imagine it will be significantly bigger.

The Jenner is 35 tons
The Cicada is 40.

The 5-ton difference is a pittance and just because it creeps over the boundary between light into medium doesn't mean that it's suddenly going to balloon in size.

Judging from the aesthetics here, I'd say it will stand a bit taller, but it will also be a bit more snub-nosed, making hitting it from the side a bit harder.
