Weeks is a little not quite big enough of a word.
I only post it in relevant threads that discuss topics that my thread already covers.
My thread can save a lot of people time to discuss the same things that I have already covered.

I am a thread-***** and I apologize for annoying you. ;)

I no like you posting the link to that thread in seemingly every thread I see you post in Taryys... you've been doing it for what feels like weeks now.

They were asking for all the grief when they decided to triple the heat with the increased firing rates. Then, to top it all off, they botched the double heatsinks. They take a broken heat system and make it even worse with the 1.4 DHS. Until they can figure out that triple heat Battletech with nerfed DHS is a bad idea, they deserve every last criticism for all the other things.

That is just, like, your opinion. Man.

Seriously - I am 100% fine with current heat mechanics. I enjoy managing heat and I understand the "you can push your luck and fire faster, or you can pace your fire and run cooler." I like the balancing act of that, I liked it in TT, I like it here, and I hated Clan Mechs and the latter tech levels specifically because of DHS making heat a "non-issue" for many builds.

And that goes right back to "they can't please everyone." Just because you (or I...) think something is a bad idea, doesn't actually make it a bad idea. It just makes it an idea you don't support, and the Devs have to balance that opinion against the opinions of others.

/v/ and /vg/ are truly the biggest, most powerful gaming sites you'll ever see.

The two groups you mention are not separate sites, they are subforums of one site.
Neither are organized or consistent groups, so you really can't assign them a size of membership. There are no members.
No 4chan board is organized enough for you to claim that they are 'powerful' in some way or another.
And the real point is: if you can't handle being trolled by some kids on the internet, you probably shouldn't be on the internet.

Why do you always post things that you haven't thought about.

This community isn't toxic, its just rabidly passionate.

I have to disagree with that.

The amount of hate and vitriol that you see on the forums just from people complaining about configurations other's use is enough to see that this community is almost universally incapable of adapting. I still see players complaining about configs that since closed beta I have considered free kills. Instead of modifying their mechs with the changing times or heavens forbid their tactics, they run to the forums to cry nerf.

They won't even spend one day changing how they approach the battle. They won't be happy until the only viable way to play this game is with boating medium or small lasers and circling each other in 8x 1v1 duels each match. They won't come out and say it, and some don't realize thats what they want (though some do, looking at some of the MechWarrior 3 'vets' here, want to find one? leg someone and see how badly they whine to find out which one is which).

I have discovered that Wireless, no matter what, sucks for gaming.

So I ran a cable through my walls to my router ;)

I have 30Mb Charter Cable, it has been sporadically problematic of late, but when it is problematic, I have 300+ ping times and DNS failures, basically can't play at all.

90% of the time my ping is under 60 - so it "would not appear" to be related to my connection. Dunno.

Similar things can impede the performance of hardwire solutions as affect wireless. You need a clean signal. If your cable pases near an electric motor, for example, bad things can result.

Sadly OP you are expecting people to be civil in an environment that has no real consequences for behaving otherwise. Just rest assured that 95% of the people who play this game don't read these forums because either they were never interested in the "discussions" to start with or they have been turned off by the general lack of civility so prevalent on most forums these days.

Just because something has been done wrong for so long, doesn't mean we should continue to accept it.

I'm sorry, but "Evil Prevails when Good People do Nothing." We - the "Good People" if we want to believe that - need to stop accepting the usual internet behavior. We need to ostracize and denounce - without becoming what we hate - those posters who refuse to act like "decent human beings" should.

For instance, if you use homophobic slurs in TS or voice comms, you should be driven from the game by every rational and reasonable player until the entire gaming community has made it clear that such behavior will not be tolerated and is not acceptable. Now, some groups might be OK with that kind of talk, and that is on those groups, but we should not accept it as the status quo.

So we should not sit by and do nothing when someone "is a ****" on these forums. Again, without spitting out the same venom and vitriol we are denouncing.

Lol right. That's why after PC gaming for 20 years I've never once visited 4chan for anything but **** or death images. Nor have I ever met or associated with anyone that ever mentioned 4chan in a video-game sense.

Yes 4channers think very highly of themselves. Clearly you are one. It makes a lot of sense after becoming familiar with your posting style.

Edit: Apparently you can't say P O R N in any way, with 0s, with mispellings..yeesh. That is not an expletive mods.

+1

Game forums are always filled with doomsday posts but this one is the worst I've ever seen.

PGI is dealing with a very old IP though. And it has a lot of passionate fans.

I hate to defend Vass but, He actually has a point here.

As much as you may hate to hear it, 4chan is more than just /b/ which is what most people think about when they think/hear about 4chan.

4chan has many sub-boards, ranging in everything from My Little Pony/mlp/ and Traditional Games/tg/ [which might I add, many players of MWO used to visit due to ties to Battletech, and the Artist for MWO posted some of his greatest works over on /tg/ To things like Random/b/ and Alternative Hentai /d/, To Cosplay/Gothic Lolita /CGL/ which discusses all aspects of this hobby.

The Anon nature of 4chan makes it a place where the joke is there's only 2 people that actually post on any given board, due to the fact you really can't tell who's who. However to deny the existance of 4chan, and it's importance in gaming is to ignore a sizeable portion of the community that will post there, but not here.

Vass is one of the few that posts in both places. He takes alot of what is discussed over in /vg/'s "Mechwarrior Online: General" Threads and brings it here to discuss, and to attempt to open people's eyes.

KONG Interstellar is /vg/'s "offical" group for that matter. Which has sizeable numbers last I checked.

Vass may come off as an Asshat alot of the times, but I'd say 85% of the time, if not more, he speaks truth.

Just curious, has anyone mentioned there is a problem with suiciders, a lot of streak cat builds, hits not registering, or the lack of a game lobby? I was thinking about starting a thread about these things..... ;)

And I agree 100% on those issues being problematic - just that the tone of some discussion about it is, possibly, putting people off the game.

I just don't want to see this go the route of the CAOD forums for EVE - a greater hive of scum and villainy you won't find (outside of 4Chan or something at least...)

I'm not saying "don't discuss bugs."

I'm just asking people to stop insulting each other, stop accusing PGI / IGP of being worse than ******, etc.

I have many complaints about things in this game and some I've even "been a ****" about. I guess I'm just seeing my own part in this, and I know I see the tone in many other's posts, and hoping there is something we can do to make it better.

Press PGI on issues. Discuss. Argue. Just... do it politely, constructively. Re-read your posts before clicking "Post." I dunno. Something.

The tone exists, among the critics, mainly due to the blind [REDACTED] that they get for responses. The [REDACTED], as I shall now refer to them, post such illogical and puerile statements/arguments, that you can't help getting frustrated with the idiocy. This leads to more and more sarcasm, condescension and hateful posts.

To the [REDACTED]: The critics, whom you attempt to ankle-bite, want this game to succeed more than you do. Please stop [REDACTED] for a day, and actually take a look at their proposals.

Concerning the toxicicty of the population here... alcohol is toxic.

I like this community, even though it might harm my internal organs if I don't be careful. I enjoy having the ability to at least have arguments and know the developes are watching it unfold. It's better than just waiting for the game to come out on the store shelf with no way to express my feelings about its developmental cycle.

As far as I can tell the anonymous nature of 4chan does one thing. Makes it a place that attracts immature people that I never want to deal with like flies to scat.

I'm sure there's plenty of value there. But anonymity does not bring out good qualities in humans. As far as I can tell, it takes the little a-hole deep inside of them, gives it ***, some meth and a keyboard.

Not to say everyone that posts on 4chan is an immature horrible person. That's just the image I have ingrained in my head from the hoards of immature horrible people I've seen quoted on there. And the fact that I've NEVER met a single person that identifies themselves by that site to have redeeming qualities.

P C P is a blocked word? Are you kidding me?
