And yet paying players in a trial mech or a brand new mech (i.e. not fully customised) get put up against free players in their fully customised mechs with maxed out piloting skills. So how exactly is it mildly pay 2 win?

Because you get to skip the whole "trial mech" part and go directly to fully customized and they go back and farm trial mech pugs.

The Phract 4X can use triple Arm mounted UAC/5 (I know, I have one).

No, it can't... the 4X has lower arm actuators... the 4X can, however, use 2x UAC/5 and 2x AC/5 in the arms.

So is not a more flexible mech a "better" mech?

2x ballistic hardpoint in one arm and 2x energy in the CT is not "flexible". :) It's actually very limited in what your loadout options are.

Or you can do 3x UAC5 in a 4X so the guns will all actually hit the same point.

Please count how many free critical slots are in your CTF-4X's arms. you can have 4x AC5, or 2x Ultra/2.

While yolo is crap so its p2L, the elmo may just be p2w, depending on what hardpoints accompany its 3 AC/gauss hardpoints.

3x Energy (1 each in RA, RT, LT). Also, please tell me what size engine and how much armor you plan to fit in there alongside those 3 gauss rifles. 3x ultra/5 is much easier.

I get the feeling that some of the people panicking about the hero mech have never actually played a CTF-4X.

If you can find a group to play with, it will make it a lot easier. If you do not have the time to play, it could take a while to get the sufficient c-bills if you want to do it all for free.

How do you find a group and play in that group all the time?

You just hit the "Find-a-Team" button...oh wait, there isn't one.

You can check the merc recruitment forums on the main forum page, and find a group that suits your needs.

There is also a public team speak server that you can join and play with people on the fly.

Either way, you are going to want to download teamspeak.

EDIT: Redshift has the links above.

You know that the AC5 fires faster more consistently than the UAC5 with current jam mechanics, right?

You're implying that new mech is pay to win, aren't you? Isn't that the whole point?

If I invented a new weapon that weight 50 tons, did 1 point of damage, and caused your mech to self destruct when fired, but it was only available on a Hero mech, would that be pay to win just because the Hero mech was the only one that could use it?

Congratulations, you can only one one specific combination on a Hero mech! Just like YLW is the only one that can carry an arm mounted AC20. But that doesn't make it pay to win.

You are correct. My mistake I have 2 UAC/5 and an AC/5.

No it doesn't.

UAC/5 fires every 1.1 seconds in single shot mode, AC/5 fires every 1.7 seconds.

UAC/5 fires faster than AC/5 and can fire much faster if you want to risk the 3-5 second jam.

My mistake, I was under the impression that the standard ROF for the UAC was much closer to the AC.

I will wait for you to admit defeat, but until then, yes. That was the point.

If you think triple UAC5's isn't going to trash anything it can actually hit(read : not Jenners) even with this atrocious and laughable 1/4 jam rate, then man, I don't know what to say. I think they specifically nerfed the UAC5 because they realized what it was going to do on this new Hero mech. I was dropping people dead in a few seconds with 2 UAC5's on my 4X before they nerfed them, 3 would have been absolutely ridiculous.

tl;dr new mech is pay to win, superior hardpoints. The rest of your post was random pointless crap

I understand about team speak but how do you get in a match with the same group every time. I just have a Launch button that searches for a match and puts me where ever it wants. Never with the same people.

You can make a group of up to 4 people currently. You'll get on TeamSpeak and trade information. Then you'll group up on launch together once you're all ready.

You are completely incorrect.

The hard points are 1 on each arm, and 1 in the torso, that means that you need to hit with 2 different reticules. Good luck chief. Hope you have a nice engine to close in to range to hit with both reticules...

You can create a group in the group tab, then you invite people from your friend's list. Once every one is in the group, each player's Launch button is replaced with a Ready/Not Ready button. When all players are Ready then the group leader can launch the game.

You realise if you are aiming with a mouse and not aiming beyond your torso twist you will still be firing roughly at the center of your screen right?

So yea he will have good luck with that and hes completely right.

I guess you have never messed with the convergence of the arms of the cataphract yet... well, have fun with your wild notions of p2w hero mechs.

I hear UAC/5 are great at hitting moving targets too, without moving your arms or torso.

If I really wanted to be firing ballistics from two different reticules, well, I could already be doing so... and no I don't recommend it.

Someone who likes the design of the hero-mech and would also like to make 30% more C-bills per match should buy it... someone looking to p2w will be disappointed.

convergence is a problem with every single weapon in the game. Even lasers thanks to the netcode I don't see your point.

Except lock on missiles if your going to be a pedant.
