So Which Is It? Are We Mostly Pug, Or Mostly Pre-Mades Around Here?

172 replies to this topic

Poll: Premade or PUG (561 member(s) have cast votes)

So, do you mostly PUG or drop with Pre-Mades (Not that I expect this to answer anything since the sample size will probably be tiny, and no way to ensure honesty/accuracy)

  1. Pre-Made exclusively (77 votes [13.73%])

    Percentage of vote: 13.73%

  2. PUG exclusively (223 votes [39.75%])

    Percentage of vote: 39.75%

  3. Both, about 50/50 (51 votes [9.09%])

    Percentage of vote: 9.09%

  4. Both but PUG more (87 votes [15.51%])

    Percentage of vote: 15.51%

  5. Both but Pre-Made more (123 votes [21.93%])

    Percentage of vote: 21.93%

He also states that pretty much everyone that cries about being stomped didn't meet a 4 man premade.

Ya see what Garth's done again? Now every damn person on the forum is going to go "Well Garth said no one's really running into any 4 man premades".

You'll pardon me if I don't. Because Garth has in the past been less than on the level vis a vis game issues.

Still not seeing how he can track whether someone got stomped based on just a forum post that oftentimes mentions no dates, let alone times.

Then you just disagree on this issue. Fair enough. Trust is one thing, what he wrote out is another. Just remember that.

As for the tracking, logs.

Yeah logs. So which part of the logs does he know to look into? Today's? Yesterdays? The afternoon session? or the evening session?

Which is why I mentioned mind reading.

People will say so as it's based on what a developer said rather than any random forum poster. It's more solid than anything anyone of us could write. And because you just don't trust him you will disagree. That's fair.

I hope you don't work in IT. I don't know any other way to put it. I feel as if you just want to disagree to disagree.

PUG here. I want to do premades, but getting into a group in TS takes too much time. I have two young children, so while I may sit down to play for four hours, I sometimes have to cut out after just a half hour to go take care of a kid that woke up. I don't think it's fair to make the group dig for another player, so I PUG instead. And I hate it.

So I guess my REAL answer would be, "would like to do premades, but can't, so I don't play MWO much. When I do, I PUG."

Ad hom insult aside. You're telling that the community manager who has posted asking for fewer PMs because of his busy schedule has found time to look through 'virtually' EVERY complaint post, then go and check the logs for confirmation? Seriously?

In my merc group we have people who are adults and have responsibilities too. We understand that and anyone can drop from a group at any time, and that group can either pick up another player (typically not hard), or just play short for a few rounds while you take care of REAL LIFE™.

There's plenty of merc groups out there you can join with that same 'adult' philosophy, so don't be shy, pick one you like and have fun!

Give it a shot. Though I can only speak for the ComstarEU Servers or the german Mercs Net most people there won't turn into an angry mob if you leave them in a hurry :)

I didn't know how to word it. Sometimes my words fail me.

Yes, I do. PMs can be of any nature whereas if he wants/needs to investigate into a certain topic, I'm sure he has the tools do so. I can see how he would not have the time to read/reply to all PMs, as I'm sure he is bombed with them. Threads/posts on specific parameters could be filed and searched on quickly.

Team work is way OP. I mean SUPER OP. Like almost as OP as an ECM'ed, lagshielded, streak-toting, Craven-3L. Not quite that OP, but with lagshield "fixed" (or at least improved) in the last patch, team work is the most OP thing in the game.

FORTUNATELY it requires no C-Bills, no MC, no specific chassis, no particular loadouts, etc. Anyone with a microphone can do it (and I'm certainly not going to listen to anyone who has the cash for gaming PC try to convince me they don't have/can't afford a mic). So if everyone can do it...then it's not really OP is it? That's kind of like saying having keyboard and mouse is OP. Or hooking a monitor up to your computer so you can see is OP. Driving a Mech with weapons is OP.

As someone who started PUGing, then joined the NA Comstar TS3 sever, I can easily say, win or lose, live or die, working with a team is much more fun. So quit your bitching, go to the sticky at the top of this forum on voice chat servers, join Comstar NA (or your choice of other appropriate server), jump into the looking for group channel, tell the group you join that you are new to comms, and proceed to have a blast!

That being said, it would still be nice to be able to jump into a random PUG when you've only got time for a game or two or need to be quite (no talking...though in theory you could at least still listen to your group) and still be competitive. The 8 man queues need some serious work before they are interesting (who wants to play 8 DDC repeatedly?), but I assume this will sort of get worked out in the Community Warfare stuff. In the mean time, I would completely support the Match Maker limiting the drops to one 4 man per side. This would eliminate sync dropping and hopefully give a better mix of experienced and new players per team.

You are still competitive as a pug, you're just not 'as competitive'.

I pug roughly 50% of the time, I certainly don't lose all those battles, but I definitely win more in a pre-made.

That's the nature of this game, it requires constant communication to be as affective as possible.

I agree with your wording, didn't mean to imply PUGing was a hopeless situation.

If you are a decent player, and you pug exclusively, then your win rate will be about 40%. If you are phenomenal you will pull that number up, if you are terrible you will drag it down.

Same same as Dimento Graven said.
In my Corps we have real life issues all the time. And I Still sometimes pug just because I can drop fast, or can experiement with builds and go back to the mech bay.

However, I don't whine and QQ when I get stomped in 2.48 seconds and lose 8-0.

I respect you, sir, for not QQ. Thank you! /s/

PUGs are the clear majority even out of forum posters who are way more likely to be in a group. I'm so shocked.
