Culture shock for the MW4 Generation..

I am inclined to think this will be a serious culture shock to some.
I actually find it mildly amusing.
MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Microsoft did a poor job with their version of MW, and the game mechanics/physics etc. Weapon ranges, mech load outs, limitations. Terrain and many other variables that affect mech combat.
I can't but hope, that MWO will not go the way of MW4 and prove to be a challenging, fun and worth while investment of time and money. Love for the Battletech Universe and a tribute to that of which many of us love about this game and related material.
For the "crotch rocket" MW4 vets and cut their teeth there but never bothered to give a go and the previous versions...
We shall see.

I have a feeling that MWO will do it right and create the game we should have had after MW3.

I agree, to a point because the MW series (yes even MWIV) made me fall in luv with the battletech universe, but I want to include everyone who played only the single player verisons of any MW game regardless of which number. I believe those players are going to be in for a shock when they try and leroy jenkins into a group of mechs and realize that every mech is piloted by an acutal perosn instead of a dumb NPC and said player gets alpha punted straight into hellokittyonline
The carebear tears will sustain me for weeks

I thinkthey should include "Clan Kill points" to represent clan salvage. Sort of like Faction points, but a form of currency. Only real way I can see clan tech filtering into IS hands.
I also want item decay, but we'll see. I doubt it.

Turn based dice roll hex map game =/= Real time simulation with projectile/missile travel times and real time movement
Sorry, but the rules for taking your turn and doing your damage and movement all during the same turn don't translate well to a game where the other person is moving at the same time as you and you have to actually aim the weapons and wait for them to do damage.

Those of us that are old timers, we understand combined unit firepower, how to balance a lance correctly, etc. They only know...if they're LUCKY...MechCommander, at best.
The 'tactics' from MW3 and 4 and the online 3025 (which I also played) don't even come close...that's like saying a Pop Warner player in the sixth grade is ready for the NFL.
They'll learn the hard way, as we did, or they'll burn out and leave, broken and dejected.
Dibs on the salvage.

People want a fun tactical game that doesn't revolve around ONE engagement. I know myself and my friends are looking forward to an actual give and take or ebb and flow to a battle. Where you want to set up a great engagement and snipe down one 'Mech at a time while fading back to hit again.

Yeah, some kind of a system like that at least where we don't see an IS mech running around with all clan weapons. At least if someone is you should know that they earned them somehow and didn't just find a weapon that fits the slot and weight restrictions. I am guessing there have probably been some lengthy topics regarding this issue by now though.

From what I have seen of the gameplay so far I have no complaints, It is higher than my expectations for a free to play game, and I would've thought the majority of people know that they can't just run in, I think thats kinda obvious.
Agreed. But MW 3 and 2 were superior to the 4th game.

Furthermore, although I have never read any of the books, I have browsed about on the battletech wiki and find the lore quite interesting, so I am greatly looking forward to learning more.
