It's lights, Heavies and assaults only.
Suggest game type name for 8 VS 8 : Medium warriors offline.

Mostly noticed the same thing although there is still room for Splatapults. You have to spend a lot more time in thermal vision though now that the minimap is mostly useless

Team varied somewhat but was usually composed of 1 assault, 3 heavies (two Phracts and a Cat usually), another medium, 2 ravens, and me. Nice and balanced.
What we usually faced was 2 or 3 Ravens/Commandos, 1 or 2 mediums/heavies, and FIVE effing Atlases. That Steiner Scout Lance outmassed my entire team by itself.
Assaults are supposed to be rare on any given battlefield. That's what makes the "Steiner Scout Lance" bit a joke.
I'm gonna go on record as wanting a drop tonnage total matchmaker. Basically when you drop your group is matched against a group with +/- 30% of your tonnage.
The only alternative I think would work is perhaps a C-bill reward bonus based on your relative tonnage... If you're 20% under the enemy's tonnage ( Say your group masses 480 tons, and the opponent's masses 600) you get a 10% bonus for every cbill you earn during that match. 10% under, 5% bonus, etc. Probably cap it at 10% bonus, to keep "Lights only Lances" from abusing it too much.
Basically there are two conditions to be met that, while they won't ensure victory, make it a lot easier. They are:
Bring as much ECM as possible.
Bring as many Atlases as possible.
And since the D-DC can carry ECM, you can do both at the same time.

Last night I had an 8v8 match in my super-Cent where I had 1002 damage and 4 kills. Another one 884 damage and 3 kills....and was in general racking up the most damage overall most games....usually 1-2 kills even if my team lost (of which none were 'lasthits' but were all 100-0% facerips). Most matches over 500 damage easy.
ECM hasn't changed a thing for people that used heat mode primarily. ECM is way overrated it doesn't add any more damage and you should know where the enemy team is already before engaging.
Oh and dragons still blow I killed 2 on the way to capping the enemy base (killed a Raven there too) to win a 8v8 game last night.

It will continue until ECM is nerfed. It's not the "newness" of it but the overeffectiveness of the ECM that makes ECM mechs preferable on any team.

Yea, I do agree that ECM does need some adjusting, especially not disabling BAP completely.
BAP still needs to have some effect especially if the BAPper is not within the range of the ECM.
