For months people have been claiming that dropping in 8 mans versus PUGs is the "big boys club." Now there is an actual big boys club. People need to step up or go back to PUG farming.

I believe there should be a choice in settings...

Trials only

Custom Only

Trials or Customs

That way you have the choice, limits new people from getting owned, never really able to learn how to play. Allows the big boys as u all say to play with the big boys and not the kids. Seems simple and fair to me, most other games have similar feature, or maps just for new people to learn, to farm in order to join the big boys.

I think it means that all the 8man PuG bashers are now going to start complaining about "better" 8man PuG bashers instead of PuGs.

He's saying, now that they got what they wanted with 8 V 8 drops they are complaining that it's too hard, and that they want their "PUG STOMPING" privilages back...

He thinks premades are just in it for easy wins and cbills and will come running back to 4 mans and pugging. Coincidentally while clearly expressing a desire for 8 man's to fail in his tone he also confirms that he is of the opinion that pug's prove easier opponents.

My prediction: A small number of whining PUGers will post things they literally have no basis to post or know anything about.

Oh look! It came true.

I'm sure some people will do what the OP is suggesting then. But that attitude isn't limited to people in premades. In fact, the entire attitude of many of the puglet players who complain about premades is very similar.

There are a lot of pots and kettles on this forum.

I have run 8mans since the patch and lone wolfed it....I will tell you this....8 v 8 is freaking amazing fun...Very few out and out face rolls on either side of the 15 or so matches we got in before someone had to leave. I LOVED it Even sync dropped a clan vs merc match hehe....

Pugging it was enjoyable as well....because of ECM people are literally playing smarter, and from what people have told me suicide now yeilds you exactly 0 xp and cbills for the match witch cuts down on some farming but not all. (Want to see Duke Nukem bot running and making nothing )

Or that he people running "Trial MECHS" don't have put up with as many "ROFL STOMPERS" running fully customized and heat effcient/weapons boated mech pilots with an over developed sense of piloting skills acting like an NFL team celebrating the fact that they just crushed the local Middle School Football team...

For the record I have never complained about Organized teams. I will actually be part of one once CW comes online.

I have complained about the PuGs that do not fight, and choose to farm or derp around the battlefield getting blown to bits. A bad player is a bad player regardless of how they drop.

I get tired of running my 9M over and over.

I play a support\skirmisher role in all of my mechs, my 9m does the job the best, and weight dosen't matter.

The only reason for me to bring out my DRGs\CN9s is in PUG matches.

So yeah if I don't feel like running an assault I guess I'll skip on the big boy league.

So tell me then are you rolling the trial mechs or are you going to step up and play with the Pro leagues?

I mean obviously that's the right thing to do rather than blacklist an entire segment of the population with an accusation you have little evidence of. Does it happen sure, is it as common as made out, doubtful.

The real question is not how many people will panzy out and go back to the pugs it's will you and the other critics find your balls and up your game?

The thing is, there is an actual competitive game mode now. Whether or not that game mode had some class or weight-based limitations would be better for balance is largely inconsequential to said competition. Ideally I'd like to see game balance be good enough that medium mechs have a place (the oft-touted "role warfare"). Barring that, some sort of incentive to play them other than in-game economics *would* be nice.

However, in the here-and-now, if you really want competition, you have to step up and play to the current metagame. I'd love to be able to usefully use some of my wacky builds in 8 v 8. However, I find that the thrill of good competition beats the desire to use less useful mechs, so I strap on my ECM suite and play better.

Well you have to learn somewhere...but you do not throw middle school in with NFL player.....

Let me ask this, if 8 or 9 out of 10 matches is a rolling and only last a few minutes, how is someone suppose to learn to play? How are they suppose to learn to lag shoot, use weapons anything? What incentives do they have to come back if they get thier balls smashed every match because of unfair match terms? One thing I did like about the old mech warrior games, at least you could adjust settings and you could have unit practices and lessons. Not here, trials are thrown to the wolves, only other option is to join a unit....so why have loan wolf status at all. Why have open public matches? They are there for people to play and learn and have fun......not to get rolled in 80% of matches.
