Remove it.
Cut ECM out of the game.
You have no idea what your talking about. This is a garbage topic.

Nope, it'll just force-toggle your night vision systems and prevent you from using thermal. The night vision systems of enemy mechs will be forced to on when in line of sight of the equipped mech on maps like Frozen City, and off on maps like River City Night.

I can't understand why PGI thought it was a good idea to combine 3 types of ECM into one low weight uber device. I hope there is more to this decision (such as testing the 3 as a combined device temporarily) or I fear that my trust in this dev team has been misplaced.
I can hit your Raven just fine. Bring it out of the Mech Hangar.

I agree that ECM could use a little nerf. Maybe get a lock at 300 or 350 meters. But that's all it needs. The flaws you mention here don't come from ECM alone. Netcode, experience and coordination should be considered as well.

You want OP, a few mechs sitting back 800 meters making heavy mechs disintegrate in less then 30 seconds.
Before they can do anything about ECM they will have to fix LRM boats and streakcats. Then they can work on making ECM more TT like.
You can counter LRM boats if you have a brain by using cover and get behind them, I do it all the time.
You can't counter ECM unless you have ECM

Yes, we PUG stomped before ECm nad maybe its not right to use this as an argument, but the point is:
The most viable mechs out there are the ECM mechs right now, yes, very much players have problems to hit others, but ECM makes it even harder.
Also, yes I did 600+ dmg every game in my non ECM Commando, but that is just a mix of 2 things imo. Me piloting a light fast mech and the inability of some players to hit fast targets.

That is the point. ECM is mandatory.
Why is 8v8 a 8ECM v 8ECM if its NOT OP?
No it's not Manditory. One of my three Mechs is an ECM carrier. AND it is usually in ECCM mode on my Atlas. Unless I hear "Incoming Missiles".
I thought Clanners were superior warriors?

I completely agree on that. It just feels too cheesy.
PS: Yesterday I got a oneshot headshot kill on an enemy raven 3L with my 4PPC Stalker. This made my day.
I was cheering in the chat for the rest of the game. (Raven pilot didn't take it very well and got a bit unpolite though)

8Q would be a good non-op choice (since the 9Q TRO is based on it, except for a removed hand accuator)

But nothing is as controvertial as the ECM.
I just wonder why the devs do not say anything about this topic.
Are they waiting for the shitstrom to go away?
Guess what - it won't.

2) ECM is not fine
ECM should not grant stealth to your whole team and it should not grant invulnerability to missiles. It does neither of those things in tabletop nor in any other version of mechwarrior. Right now ECM is just a poorly implemented band-aid for an underlying problem that was never fixed properly.

I think ECm is a serious problem.
