how about an item for real money that lets you dish out more damage in a shorter time than your opponent without it ?

Just curious, why do you seem to think the MC version - the real money version - would be worse than what you can acquire through in-game currency?

I am going to guess (again -- guess) that airstrikes and/or arties are going to require the command console. or some other mechanic. There will likely be a GCD on it, and may even require a certain number of resources to trigger.

The fact that I can get all these new toys without spending any MC is fine. If I want one right now, then I must open my wallet...like every_single_other_convenience_on_the_planet.

Did you miss the bit about the free flushes being worse than the paid flush?

You'll be able to flush 15% of your heat (more, based on your heat sinks).
Then you can flush 20% (more, based on your heat sinks)
A paid player can flush 35% (more, based on his heat sinks).

Oh, and for the cost of your two flushes? He gets an artillery barrage, too. A big one. Or an air strike. Or a capture accelerator.

There is no world in which two flushes is better than 1 + something else.

No. They will make money by making a good game which players will want to support through goodwill or they will run all of their customers off and Mechwarrior will die for good this time.

I hope they choose the former.

Buying a single Tier 2 CB module grants you more cooling than a single Tier 3 MC module, it just breaks it up into 2 uses.

You're not losing a module slot for no benefit. You lose a module slot to get a second 35% burst.
