I actually prefer the MC option. I have more money than time.

I think few people have issue with that; However, when cash purchased items are better than time purchased items it ****** people off.

Seems there is a lot of confusion. May I suggest a very short (10 seconds) vid showing the function of coolant pod. This may dispel a lot of fears. Maybe. Just a thought, and it is understood if this will breach development secrecy.

Make a super ECM while you're at it. MC only.

Seriously...

What should be money sinks:

-Camos
-Patterns
-Cockpit items
-Rentable private servers?
-Hero Mechs (Balanced, btw great job so far)
-Novelty items

What shouldn't:

-Game changing equipment that allows players with money to have an advantage over a non-paying player.

Well sore chins aside (from the record level knee jerking) all I can ask is: will this do anything to attract more people to this game or just cause a mass exodus?

Who precisely would join a game BECAUSE it has a p2w feature?

BTW, if you thought 8 mans were already bad, wait til you introduce any kind of consumable where its constrained by a persons wallet/in-game money.

Eventually, with a mature game, any percentage point of advantage will become a necessity, so either that mode will be relegated to the few who have the time to grind, or the rich who want to pay into the obvious cash grab.

It's short term and short sighted.

(sp error fixed)

btw, I don't play WoW anymore because of the grind-fest.... and I don't mind paying for mechs. I understand that's my bad for not having the time.

I refuse to pay into golden ammo.

None. ELO has brought together many couples over the years with their unique brand of music. Keep on keepin' on, classic rock Cupid!

Unless you wasted your comedy name with an incorrect spelling. That's possible. >_____>

I sure wouldn't, even though I don't really want coolant flushes at all. At least it would be equal whether you purchased it with CB or MC - it would be fair. As it is proposed now, the MC one is strictly better since it only takes up one slot.

Well I do not have enough space even for that 1 on my D-DC.And those items are not worth for my money/c-bills.One-time use pffff...

You have 4 module slots. I have 4 module slots.

You have:
Coolant 1
Coolant 2
Airstrike 1
Airstrike 2

I have
Coolant 3
Airstrike 3
Arty 3
Module of my choice

Guess who's got the upper hand (assuming relatively equal skill level).

You actually have to multiply this by 8. Because you could theoretically see 8 P2W players vs 8 F2P players.

I'm sure Paul can defend his own game design decisions, no need for mooks like you to get all defensive about it.
It's the overreaction to the announcement. Everyone is like a big elephant shrieking at a mouse.

Was anyone really surprised this was going to happen when they changed their stance on 3PV? Wont be surprised if 3rd person view is a pay module as well and they call it a hovering drone.

Won't help, coolant pods have to place in the game at all, pay or not.

Or even better, No consumables at all. These ideas they have for consumables are stupid even looking at them by themselves. Coolant flush makes the game even more focused on alpha striking with heat intensive builds. Artillery and air strikes are just Call of Duty lols. Oh **** you got me with an air strike, I applaud you on your mech piloting skills. Grats.

Oh, I was saying that for the last two hours. Like, "LOL GUYS HAWKEN HAS CONSUMABLES SO MWO NEEDS THEM AMIRITE?"

Bottom line is we don't need any of this ********, but we also don't need modules, or XP trees, or ECM the way it is, I just want MW3 with better graphics, but instead they need to give you timesinks, moneysinks, goldsinks, etc, because it's the most profitable way to exploit a playerbase.

It's disgusting, to be honest.

I'm not sure i should be posting, but, it's not this particular instance that bothers me about this, it's that fact that something like this directly stands at the top of that slippery slope, sure it could be ok, maybe a teeny bit on favor on one side, but if it is successfull, well the road just gets easier and easier doesn't it... the spice will flow.

A for money tournament. Real money. PGI gets a cut of the top. Held on a regular basis.

personally I don't like the idea of paying something on a regular basis. I am not much for the commitment of doing so.

you can duck out of LOS and laugh while his mech literally ****** away his hard-earned cash...

This is my plan :P Personally I think that the concept of someone grinding and/or paying money for the ability to fire another shot in a computer game is hilarious. But yeah, I think you're right that this probably could lead to imbalance in organized team play if it's coordinated.

I'll only accept this video if its from a gold plated mech flushing all its heat away to this song
