I'm playing the game to within it's matchmaking limitations. How dare I.

Glad to see crappy players who can't win without pug stomping finally admit it. Keep gaming the system more to pad the stats so you can make yourself feel better.

You're trying too hard. I suggest a different approach. But please, don't let me stop you from making yourself look like an obtuse fool.

So what you are saying is that premades that are whining about D-DC stomping and retreating to pugstomp land are just scrubs who couldn't hack it who were only good at pugstomping? Why am I not surprised. :)

i would not disagree :D

i think we all knew this was going to happen. the primary reason most randoms got on TS was so they could win 80% of the time as opposed to losing 80% of the time ... and really who can blame them?

they need true ELO-type matchmaking to get rid of stuff like this. you'll still have pugstompers, but they'll be playing randoms that are individually much better, so they wont' be able to pugstomp

I think a lot of players switch back and forth for many reasons.

1. You may not have 8 players together to fill out an 8 man drop and want to play.
2. You've been playing 8 player drops for a while and want to play something more informal.
3. You want to farm some Cbills.

8 player drops require you to be ready to bring your best. Sometimes you just want to drop and shoot stuff with some of your fellow brigade members. If you try to play informal 8 player drops, you are just going to get your head kicked in.

I dunno, when we have 8, we drop 8. When we have less, we make do.

To my knowledge, even with all the 'cheese' builds/team compositions...we've only lost because of:

1. our own mistakes
2. one really coordinated team that dragged it out to the last man, with only 1 minute or so left on the clock....still a good game if you ask me.

We have rolled the Fatlas-bound teams with nothing but D-DCs, probably because we don't bother with LRMs until ECM is better balanced.

Really? You gave 8 man games a try for 3 whole days? This is becoming a trend as its at least 6 recognizable teams I have seen today alone. One of the groups was on my team, I asked them what happened, is the dream dead already? They said 8v8 is total bs right now, nothing running but cheeze builds.

Is it really so bad you just arent having fun in 8 man teams now? What needs to change, I imagine actual tonnage matching would help. Whats so bad about it though?

I actually prefer 8 on 8s.... but they are sort of right.... the 8 mans are mostly cheesers. Now if you're like me and you want to fight people you just anti cheese them....

Hide in the base and wait for them to "stealth" cap then roflstomp them. We had a knife fighting set up and just waited for the ECM stealth cheese to show up and then won 8/2.

PS - this is with a pug on ngng... well except for the 2 guys who knew me well who wanted me to lead. I have a nasty habit of winning fights I shoudn't.

Also, I don't want to jump on the 8 man randoms who are going back to farming pugs too much either. You really can't just join 7 random people on TS and expect to win against 8 people who practice together for 20 hours a week. It's probably as big a disadvantage as 8 pugs going up against 4 randoms on TS.

They just need *real* matchmaking is all.

Although this 6 D-DC complaint is just an excuse in my eyes. Haven't run into a lot of them and the ones I have run into get dismantled easily because you literally cannot miss an Atlas and their only option is to advance as a group super slowly because Gausscats eat them at range. So while I kind of sympathize, I also lol because a lot of the people in this thread making these stupid excuses were also clamoring about how bad pugs were and how they needed 8 mans back so they could show their skill and now they're doing a complete 180 and complaining about 8 mans.

Finally realize that they CANNOT have weight class matching. There aren't enough 8 man groups around to ensure your 7 light 1 medium group finds a match.. This is it until they have ELO matchmaking, so just roll with it.

What 8v8 really needs is a new game mode, not weight limits. The most boring part about it isn't the mechs, it's the strategy that most organized teams are using of just turtling in their base and they would rather have a 15 minute long standoff than leave their spot. steel jaguars in particular have perfected this "strategy." The game mode is at fault, there needs to be a reason for mechs to actually move from their starting place in a match.

I normally solo drop first few matches when I get in from work to relax and have some fun then jump on TS and find a group (either 4 or 8 man depending)

Only problem I have with doing 8 Mans so far is that after 10 hours at work and 4-5 hours travelling its hard work due to my lack of concentration by that point.

Looking forward to trying out some 8 mans at the weekend when I am not shattered.

As to "Cheese" 8 man drops seemed a lot of that first night patch dropped but less so since then and it seems to depend very much on the time of day.

Personally prefer to run either mediums or heavy mechs never been much of an assault or light fan - when playing against other 8 man balanced teams its great and win or loose good fun. When playing against a min maxed team win or loose its not so much fun.

Find the teams with 6 Atlas with ECM and 2 commandoes a pain in the butt and if the group I am with works out mechs and configs correctly we can beat them but then I always seem to end up driving a mech type i cant stand.

Now if they bring weight limits in soon I will be a happy bunny :)

As to running games for C bills cant quiet understand that I run games for fun :D

It's cute that you keep making up circumstances to try and prove a point. It said nothing about claiming to be "Awesome" nor any complaints about 8 Man Matches. It simply stated a matter of fact of the games current matchmaking systems. Playing in a 4 man is more lucrative than an 8 man. Prattle on as much as you like regarding your personal vendetta with my unit, but it doesn't change that fact. Why don't you go back and re-read what I had posted, it's all there. Though, I forgive your misgivings if reading comprehension isn't your strong suit. It certainly seems that way.

P.S. If you'd like to setup an 8v8 Scrim, I'd be more than willing to facilitate said endeavour.

their real problem is, they can't handle other premades and have to realise, that they are MUCH worse than they thought, because shooting PUGies made them feel so elite

shouldn't playing a game be about fun, not profit?

I concur. Though, if it were "Pick up and Play" regarding Mechs, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Competitive League play(RHOD) requires every individual to be flexible, which in turn requires a large mechbay, and a decent bank roll for testing out up and coming features(As a Team). While I don't revel in the fact that 4 mans are more lucrative than 8 mans; it doesn't change the fact that it's the nature of the beast currently, in regards to C-Bill accumulation. Hopefully that change will come with Community Warfare and Mercenary Contracts.

I can imagine that there are several reasons why 4 man pre-mades are back.
Takes longer to get a team, bugs hurt more in 8vs8 and off course some people need some C-Bills.

I really think at this point we're overdue for some matchmaking mechanics, In all honesty, MWO should have not gone Open Beta without matchmaking.

News flash, sometimes you don't have a full 8, 16, or 24 available for a complete group. No reason not to drop down to a smaller group and keep playing.

I'm sure there are those who are doing it to farm, but I think most are just wanting to play with friends be that 4 or 8 man drops.

Yes, there are a lot of 8-mans breaking up and going back to 4-mans. Saw it on the Teamspeak servers, big-time tonight. I think many players aren't happy with being basically forced out of their favorite mech and into buying an Atlas D-DC they don't want to play all of the time or a Commando, Raven, Cicada they simply don't like.

There is truth here.

Not absolute truth; but truth enough.

I'm still sticking to the 8-man drops as much as possible, and many are and are having fun with it. I do agree that being "forced" into cookie-cutter mechs is a problem, and hope it will get sorted out at some point.

I very much love the overall gameplay of 8v8 right now; just not the necessity - or, rather, the imagined necessity - of running specific mechs and builds (as many units are running non-cookie cutter teams and doing well.)

Im still playing both ways. We did 8 man well into the night they wanted to do successful sync drops which went well. Only problem was there were no mediums in them. Itll be back to playing whatever I want in 8 man tonight. So hello Hunchy and me Cent. I have a 8-man goin on at www.teamcored.com going on every day I can start it. Two rules bring what you want and do not care about W/L. Other posters yeah its cheese build extrodianar as usual lol.

A much bigger problem with 8v8 is all these fatal bugs that crash people to their desktop, lock them in at 4fps, bug their Hud, the gold screen bug, the black screen bug. Those are the things that hurt 8v8 the most in my humble opinion.

The Silverhawks have adopted a new motto: Expecta Cladis. Expect Disaster.

It was the result of a conversation about the Silverhawks in BT lore, and someone mentioned our traditional tactics usually involved the question "OK, who all survived re-entry?"

I immediately quipped that this was a perfect way to describe launching into a match right now - "OK, who all is not bugged and able to play?"

So, for right now, your DC's are the guys who ate a Naval PPC during the drop, and the guys with black screens are unconscious after their mech landed on it's head, or stuck in the wreckage of the dropship, etc.

I think they are simulating that aspect of the lore just perfectly :P
