There's a number of weapons that have, traditionally, been disliked in both past MechWarrior games and TableTop. While I think Machine Guns could be highly effective for their weight if their raw values are ported, weapons like the Autocannon/2 and Autocannon/5 have been traditionally very bad weapons; they do not do enough damage to justify their extreme weight while offering ammo explosion chances, even with the AC/2s range advantage. This has left designs like the base Dragon with a deserved terrible reputation. What steps have been taken to give the AC/2 and AC/5 a place in the MWO arsenal?

If Ponies are out I am rage quitting this game now and will never play
Serious question: Will purchasing mechs be the only way to acquire them? In the Tweetchat it was stated that everyone gets one freebie mech. I assume purchasing them with either real money or cbills is the standard, but will there be other avenues available to players? Also are the mechs we own available for only us to pilot or no? To elaborate, suppose my lance is on a periphery world and one of my lancemates is killed in action. His mech is repaired to the bare minimum but he does not have enough cash to make full repairs. Can I loan him my spare Atlas for the next mission? (Obviously this depends on the dynamics of the metagame).

I am curious if the only way people can play the game will be in team matches against other teams. or will there be single like matches/duels or littel story missions pilots could accomplish alone if none of thier unit/guild/faction are available/on?

As a follow up, what sort of damage can we expect from these support abilities (ex: is each artillery shell equivalent to an AC/20 round?)

What makes a slow medium Mech more enticing than a fast heavy / assault Mech?
Take the Hunchback and the Cyclops. They have roughly the same speed, armor and the Cyclops has strictly better weaponry. In battle, the Cyclops' only drawback is that it's a bit larger (though not a large difference). The Cyclops is arguably strictly better, giving little reason to pick the Hunchback over it.
Delegating the responsibility of making the Hunchback more attractive to things like cost causes concerns of long-term variety in battles and the so-called 'Pay to win'. If the only thing keeping you from having a strictly-better Mech is cost, then footing the bill with real money means that you have gained an in-battle advantage using real money. That is a pretty good indicator of 'pay to win', and nobody wants that.

And as an added question, what are your starting game modes? (aside from dropship, and regular deathmatch, like specialty planet conquest modes)

Certainly this number isn't set in stone, yet; I am just wondering in what direction you guys are going with this... it could be a vicious, day-by-day fighting environment where the same secondary planets ("Border Worlds," as described in the Dev Blogs) can change hands up to three or four times a week, or the number of viable Border Worlds could be so large that one might spend weeks in a Company's hands, completely unopposed by rival Companies.

At a guess,TAG is also used to spot for indirect LRM fire, so that's likely the use it will see in the game.
